This could be the worst thread ever. Started talking about Lisle and I have no idea where this shit went to. Find a different place to post about wages and politics.3 points

Freedom of speech protects you against government prosecution pal, it has nothing to do with work. You don't deserve the right to blast your employer in a public setting. They're paying you to support and represent the company - read every handbook in the history of existence. You think it's OK to bite the hand that feeds you publically? Business is an internal matter the second you sign on the dotted line. If you have a problem with where you're working philosophically or opions wise then quit - no one made you work there.3 points

How long will it be before this organization allows us to be talking about our playoff match-ups in September instead of all of their internal dysfunction? It's really tiresome. I want White Sox September baseball to mean something. It's been so damn long2 points

Holy moly has this thread gone off track. Re: Lisle. The shaping of an almost non existent narrative just so certain people can get their daily White Sox bashing in is ridiculous. I would pay attention to what Harold said though. He's a credible poster.2 points

No - That is not how it works. How you treat people matters and how you go about things matters.2 points
-
Jack, you are wrong here bud. Companies can have policies that employees have to agree to that result in discipline or termination if you make disparaging comments about the company. Or they will simply terminate you at will with some sort of reason.2 points
-
Since when has that mattered in this organization? In all seriousness though, he should have never liked that tweet.2 points
-
No it isn't, they still deserve to have rights. It's laughable that you think you shouldn't have the same workers rights if you make more money.2 points
-
Yes, because many justify it by saying he makes more money than me and etc. I don't care how much money you make, you should never be exploited by your employer to be paid less. As I said, if this was you and your job I doubt you'd be as understanding. It doesn't matter what the CBA looks like - all players under the current agreement would be grandfathered in. They cannot retroactively change the rules and time left a player has before becoming a FA. MLB has, by far, the strongest union in professional sports. The mistake they made is they thought teams would want their best players on the roster - they didn't account for deliberate tanking and the suppressing of talent to elongate their control. Never trust your employer - document and define everything. That's the lesson learned.2 points

They need pitching...and hitting...and coaching. There has been a lot of positive developments this year, but they are still far behind contending teams.1 point

At least Lisle gets to move on. Lifelong Sox fans are stuck with this crap. And then hoping against hope they actually sign someone good in the offseason.1 point

Wouldn't be surprised if he might be fighting dead arm. I believe his FB velo was lower than usual. He also had a bit of bad luck. An infield single hit off of 3B and shot straight up.1 point

Reinsdorf has provided Sox fans with a cavalcade of losers in this position to be sure. But Don Gutteridge was actually worse than Bevington and Renteria and that's saying something. I have no idea what Reinsdorf had on Ventura but he clearly was forced into a job he neither sought or was qualified for. Robin is one of my all-time favorites and to have his memory and stature sullied by that despicable owner is unforgivable.1 point

He’s never going to be consistently good if he can’t throw his fastball up in the zone, as we know his off speed pitches are minor league caliber. He’s not improved one bit since he came up with the Nats.1 point

Sad story but Skaggs was a grown ass man capable of making his own bad decisions. No one forced him to put anything in his body.1 point

.280something, 28HR 102 RBI and ppl want him gone. SMH. But yeah I know RBIs supposedly don't mean anything, and according to WAR Yolmers more valuable. lol I hope he gets a nice extension.1 point

You can spin it any way you want to. "Increased spending on analytics ." Is that supposed to impress anyone ? Do you how much they spent ? Do you know how far behind the rest of the league they are ? "Increased modernization" ? Where ? Show me . Did they add another minor league team . They have 7 minor league teams which is as little as there is in baseball when other teams have 8 or 9. If they are supposed to have wave after wave of talent from the minors how do you develop it using minimum resources . Minimum teams , minimum staff , and trading their surplus intl. FA money every season for the last 2 or 3 seasons. Sorry if I don't remember .May have been in the penalty 3 season ago but still could ve signed guys to $300,000 contracts Is that how you add talent to sustain winning ? "Willingness to spend a lot of money, something they hadn't shown in franchise history." Actually the Albert Belle contract was the biggest at the time. They supposedly came in second for Tanaka. Yet the Machado contract put in stipulations that safeguarded the Sox against player injury while KW whined "All he had to do is stay on the field" for an aging player which isn't that easy. That's a serious offer ? They did the same thing to Frank Thomas basically with the diminished skills clause. He has to keep repeating himself because guys like you and others are apologists for the teams failures. But rest assured he is not alone in the way he feels and if I had to guess I'd say the board is split pretty evenly on believing that this rebuild will result in multiple championships or sustained success. So now the issue is extensions which everyone thinks is a great thing which Yoan said. But what did the extensions for Eaton, Sale and Quintana lead to besides a good start to the rebuild ? Did it lead to any winning season ? Playoffs ? Sustained success ? Keep blowing smoke up everyone's ass and there will be those who have every right to tell you that you are full of it. I get it you don't want to hear his negative responses but his posts are a lot more truthful than yours and your belief in the current Front office and ownership. Excuse the rest of us who are in "prove it" mode.1 point

We agreed previously on Grandal. The guy tends to die down the stretch. But I think there would be a problem dropping him into a 3 way rotation. If you can drop him to 120ish that might work. Otherwise I would pass on him and maybe trade for a LH IB/DH type.1 point

Btw won't capitalism die once all jobs are automated or outsourced? It is a great idea for like a phone company to build phones 100% automatically but who is going to buy the phones if 90% of the people have no job and income to consume?1 point

I had a good upbringing, good education, and was gifted with above average intelligence. What I could never conquer was work ethic and ambition. I see others with far superior work ethic and ambition. I've always wanted to improve those things. Always told myself I would. Bottom line, I'm just not that ambitious and lack good work ethic. I could be doing more, be making more if I had better work ethic. I just don't. It's something I've come to terms with. I still do well, but I could be doing much better. Work ethic and ambition are real things dawg. Not everybody has it. Everybody knows a bum who has been given every opportunity and advantage and managed to squander it time after time. Hell, look at some players on the White Sox. If they had better work ethic, maybe they would field their positions better!1 point
-
I believe that there is no such thing as lack of ambition. Everybody is ambitious. I don't believe anyone just doesn't care to better themselves. There is no such thing as a lazy person. They don't exist. There is lack of access. I believe that if the proper supports were in place, that 80% of people could do pretty much any job that exists. And I believe anyone who wants to work should be able to find a job.1 point

Even Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland are starting to see significant cracks in their economic models in the last 2-3 years. We have our idealized version from the media and political candidates, but the truth is somewhere in between utopias vs. North Korea/Venezuela.1 point

But that’s where you probably aren’t being realistic. A job that is “starting at the bottom” and is “boring shit” likely isn’t going to pay well enough to live independently on. When I started at $32K a year out of college, I was still living with my parents. I couldn’t afford shit.1 point
-
Most people aren’t handed “cool” jobs, they have to work for them. When I first started in Finance, I was significantly underpaid and had to do a ton of boring shit. I also had put up with an old man who thought he knew everything. I didn’t whine or run my mouth, I just continued to work hard and made the most I could out of the opportunity. You seem to expect some awesome job from the get-go simply because you’re book smart and/or have an advanced degree. Most of us have to start out at the bottom of the totem pole and claw their way up the ladder because it’s competitive as fuck out there. If you expect something to be handed to you, you’re going to end up waiting a long ass time.1 point

They do have rights. They have the right to be represented by a union who negotiates their labor agreement. Don't get mad at the FO for abiding by the agreement in place. That's how the system works. Surly you don't expect management to throw away millions just to be nice guys.1 point

What is their to dispute. You've made your point 1000 times. We all understand your position and opinion. We all understand your expectations. What is the point in parroting them in every single thread. Here's exactly why it's over the top obnoxious at this point: You will never admit that the front office is changing. Despite rebuilding, increased spending on analytics, increased modernization of the organization and other new avenues they have entered. When the Sox offer 250+ million to someone, and finish second, you cite that as a fact that the White Sox arent serious about spending and investing in this core. You are basically implying that the offer was fake and they knew it wouldn't be accepted; so you're stating that the White Sox put in all those hours knowing it wouldn't get done just so they could say they tried. Zero big businesses operate that way, period. They showed a willingness to spend A LOT of money on a premium talent - something they hadn't shown in their franchises history. You cite that failure as proof they haven't changed despite it being proof of the contrary opinion. I already see this offseason and your responses Sox go out and spend 200-300 million this off season on 2-3 players but they don't sign Cole. You'll use that as proof of your assumption that this team can't get the mega deals done. They could sign the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best FA's on the market and you'll be parroting how they once again missed out on the top free agent. This is why there's no point in giving your posts any credence, because they're not tied to logic at all and are based on an abnormal and irrational amount of hate and anger towards a baseball team you're supposedly a fan of. Its outrageous.1 point
-
So true. I don't think I've ever seen a positive post from him.1 point

Yep. In a vacuum, extensions for both guys would be amazing. But somehow they will be used as excuses for not signing any top free agent talent this offseason. I can already hear it coming out of Hahn’s mouth... ”We were close with a few of our free agent targets but knew that we would not be able to lock up our own internal talent long-term if we matched what they ultimately received from other teams. Our goal is still the same as it always has been — consistent and long-term winning. We felt if we dug too deep for our free agent targets, our end goal could be compromised.”1 point
