Back before divisional play the White Sox had to compete with the Yankees for that one playoff spot. That kind of skews everything.3 points

I wanna hear why Cease was so good. So encouraging. Really encouraging. I know, it's probably just him getting used to this level. A big night for Rick Hahn. He looks like a genius with Eloy, Moncada, Cease, Collins, etc.2 points

The difference between mendick and collins is probably near zero; the likelihood of Collins getting up again with he sox only having a 1 run lead is far greater than the chance that mendicks "speed" scores where collins doesn't.2 points

This isn't even worth debating. Almost all of his earned runs on his near 7 ERA have come in the first 2 innings. That is a problem that still hasn't been addressed.2 points

Anyone saying it’s been a bad year for the rebuild is insane. Coming into the season, these were the following players that really mattered going forward.... Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Robert, Madrigal Of that group, 5 of them have had great years and 3 have underachieved. That’s not bad considering how uncertain these talents were. I’m more concerned about the coaching in this organization than the talent right now.2 points

It is extremely weird how Matt Skole, AJ Reed, and other AAAA players with worse stats than Collins come up and instantly bat cleanup, but Collins bats 9th. But there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to Renteria's decision making anyway.2 points

29th time the Sox lost by 5 runs or more this season. Jason and Steve like to say the Sox "keep hanging around" when they are trailing by 4 or less.2 points

Wanting to go with Micah Johnson as a major league starter is indication enough of the talent evaluation problems. Two years ago, it was thinking Jacob "Poor Man's Jerry Owens" May had a big league future. We can't even get the back-up catcher thing right. We're paying Welington Castillo millions to record a -1.1 fWAR this year, while Phegley, Dustin Garneau, Narvaez and Tyler Flowers have been worth +4 fWAR. If anyone on this board projected Johnson to be a long-time starter and Semien to be merely a AAAA player, then would be ridiculed or more likely flambéd.2 points

No offense, but isn't Avi basically the same player as Ozuna? About the same age. Ozuna has drawn 45 walks to Avi's 29 in fewer plate appearances and he's whacked about six more homers. Ozuna has 17 more RBI which apparently means nothing with RBI stats discarded. Ozuna makes 12 mill; Avi 3.5 mill. Since the Sox seem to be enjoying not spending a lot of money aside from bonus money isn't it smarter to sign Avi two years 6.5 mill a year instead of Ozuna two years 15 million a year? It's not like we're going to need a superstar in right. Avi figures to pick up the home run pace back in the The Cell. Just saying ... Ozuna's stats don't scream "sign me!" I don't really care either way, but obviously I'd like Avi back if guys like Rutherford aren't going to make it. I guess Leury in right would be just as good as Avi as well.2 points

True, but Collins did make a big change. He is crouching much more in his stance which shrunk his strike zone a bit and it’s also helping him lay off the high heat. This change along with his already amazing patience will hopefully lead to continued success. I’m sure Parkman is happy to be wrong. The funny thing is we still don’t know if he can catch on a consistent basis because he hasn’t had the opportunity but his bat looks like it has potential.1 point

That's called "getting ahead of it". He got called out after Collins start raking and tried to change his position. Because apparently 20 something year olds with long swings are unable to shorten up.1 point

He's changed his mind so much about players when he says his "hot takes" it's hard to keep up.1 point

I'm honestly amazed that just happened. Just when you think you've seen it all, ricky gets you again.1 point

What a freaking joke. Go back and see the calls Cease and Marshall didn’t get. Baseball has turned into a total joke.1 point

He would be on pace for 35 homers with 500 ABs when his previous career high was 8, seems pretty normal and not suspicious at all to me1 point

Are the Sox still keeping Robert and Madrigal down because of Charlotte being in the playoffs? ?1 point

Eloy, Cease, Moncada with great games. Even Collins has been on base. Great game regardless of who wins.1 point

He has an ERA of 11 in the first inning. That has plagued him all year. That is not a "statistical oddity" that he gets blown up almost every start the first 2 innings. That is called a pattern.1 point

I was just going to post this. You beat me to it. Moncada is going to absolutely explode in 2020. If Hahn can get him locked up this offseason that would be great. The price would be sky high in winter 2020-2021.1 point

Right now his fielding percentage is (slightly) worse than Marcus Semien's in his awful 2016 season where he was playing a position in the big leagues he had never been coached a until they brought in Washington. Anderson is absolutely promising, good range, but this is also really bad. Unacceptably bad. Something needs to be done differently, and if Anderson isn't being moved, then he needs better coaching and training.1 point

Having a winning culture is not just a cliché. The real downside to a tank and rebuild that takes years to turn things around and the losing gets to the players, coaches and managers. After a time it takes its toll. Its human nature to get down at times. The result is what fans are seeing in this losing streak. There is no need to over-analyze this game. The Sox were just plain bad in almost every aspect of the game. Walks, bone-head plays, failure to deliver a big hit, and a bottom of the order that gives three innings away. Even the manager gets thrown out when the ump makes the right call. This was not major league baseball. It was a travesty. The FO can't keep telling fans to have patience. Changes have to be made in the off-season. I won't have faith in this rebuild if the team continues to sit on its hands. Just because you have some good young players doesn't mean you're going to eventually win anything. Right now 2020 looks like more losing.1 point

It's one of the negatives of a rebuild (don't shoot the messenger, it happens to be true). The roster makeup is such this team can't contend for the postsason so it's human nature to not give a bleep the final six weeks or so. I know baseball is a fun game, but a lot of the guys are nicked up, too. I'm just saying until we field a roster that's capable of vying for postseason play, the team will probably limp home playing this kind of baseball. When the team gets good, you'll probably see half the errors from say, Anderson. Just my take. It's easy for lousy teams to be lousy year after year, look at the dregs teams in the NFL and NBA as well as MLB.1 point

A front line manager with his own hand picked coaches would have us all feeling better about the rebuild. Watching bad baseball night after night is getting old.1 point
