  9. QB driven league. Rodgers didn't make many plays, but he made enough against an elite defense. His opponent made no plays, bad interception, poor reads, panicky throws, inconsistency all around. There were a couple drops and some abysmal play calling, but they put a LOT on the QBs shoulders in this league, for a reason. The good ones find a way. So far this QB does not look like he has progressed any from last year. However, a huge HUGE mark against the coach for doing absolutely nothing concerning the run game. Monty had a few nice runs in the first half, then vanished in the 2nd half. Total lack of commitment to a balance game plan was a monster FAIL.

  10. Chicago is now having a meltdown and I can’t wait to listen to the Score tomorrow. All of the blame is going to be put on Trubisky regardless of what happened in the other phases of the offense. What was the issue with the offensive line tonight? What is really going on with Burton? Why does Trubisky need to throw so many times and why can’t they run like normal teams do? Runs off the guard to the outside, pitches and up the gut still work in this league? Was it the best decision to not kick from 51 yards and go for it on fourth down? What was the reason for all of the five yard curls? Did they really need to play players in the preseason? I mean, would that really have helped? Maybe, but I’m not positive? This game was overhyped and they didn’t look ready for it on the offensive side of the ball.

  11. Well the sox put in as much work on defense as the 1st team offense put in this year in the NFL preseason.

  15. A few folks on this board: Jose sucks and should be shot out a cannon to Mars A few folks on this board: Jose is literally a god in a baseball uniform, and I have a shrine to him in my garage Most of us on this board: Jose is a pretty good hitter, and less than average fielder, and he'd be a nice option at DH for a couple years There. If you haven't read this thread yet, don't waste your time.

  18. I've never seen any pitcher in my lifetime that is harder to figure out and evaluate than Reynaldo Lopez. How can you be so dominant and so bad in such short periods of time?

  24. Look, the approach is working for TA so whatever... But how the hell do you strike out on these 5 pitches against a guy who just walked in a run and threw a wild pitch

  25. That was a terrible at bat Tim. Struck out and not 1 pitch was a strike.

  27. Lol and then that shit works, just reinforcing Ricky's bullshit.

  28. Coach Ricky, Jim Goins, I am Ryan's Dad. We have been in the back yard all week working on his popups. His mom is coming to the game and it would be swell if she could see him play the OF. She is his #1 fan after all. Hey sorry to be a bother but could he hit first. It would help his confidence. Remind me again is it our turn to bring cupcakes after the game?

  31. Look you would have to be an idiot to think he'd say anything else and I am not an idiot. No it was just me commenting on how absurd the whole situation was . just stating a fact . I said nothing at all about what he should have said. Giving Hahn credit for knowing who the best prospects in baseball were when he made the trades holds no weight with me. I like that you have faith that he can finish off the rebuild. I mean what choice do we have ? And there is talent and it's possible Reinsdorf and company don't screw it up.. but I wouldn't bet on it.

  32. Did I say he should have said anything else ? But its just the total idiocy of the whole situation. Stop sticking up for the guy.

  33. I don't know what the third base coach was doing, but there is no reason for Abreu doing what he did. It makes no sense. A veteran player shouldn't do things like this. As bad as this play was, I don't think it cost the Sox the game. The outfield play of Garcia and Palka certainly didn't help any.

  34. Besides both runners screwing up, where was the 3rd base coach???

  35. This organization is just fundamentally bad. Just about every pop up is a circus, bad approaches at the plate as they never fight off or take pitcher pitches, look at Anderson's defense, it is not getting better or Eloy's. I( ma not certain this organization is doing anything to improve their player development.

  36. I think I understand why Abreu got a lead off third instead of tagging as he would have on a fly ball. First, his run meant nothing. Yes. Moncada advancing to third behind him would have been t significant BUT Moncada didn't tag if you look at the replay Moncada not only did not tag, but he almost made it to third base and had to scoot back to not be doubled up. Abreu saw Moncada coming hard to third and that may have caused Abreu to take a lead off third rather than tagging up. Fan hindsight is 20/20 but I can see a lot of players doing what Abreu and Moncada did in that situation. These things happen especially when there is an unexpected play like the catch on that Eloy missile. No reason trolling Abreu. He is an excellent player and the Sox would not have been in the game without his home run and single.

  41. That's disgusting and proves without a shadow of a doubt Avi woulda been great in RF this year. He's making something like 2.5 mill or 3 mill a year for gosh sakes.

  43. I feel like we (meaning, the broader NFL fandom) have a carbon copy of this discussion every time a QB gets a contract extension. It's just supply and demand. Of guys where there's a consensus among all fans and they are actually "worth" $5 million or more there MIGHT be 5 or 6 guys and they are all perennial Pro Bowlers or first-ballot Hall of Famers, if that's the standard (nobody ever actually says this but it's always implied) then that's absurd, almost everybody will be recycling QBs every year. Of course that's not how it works though, you have a QB who meets a baseline of competence, where at any given time about 20-25 guys starting in the NFL will meet that standard. The other third or so of NFL teams is looking for a QB and as any Bears fan (or Browns fan) knows, that is an awful place to be in. It takes a sustained multi-year effort to put the QB in a position to succeed, and then a fair amount of luck. If you don't pay them then another team will and you're back in the draft starting over hoping you find Aaron Rodgers when even the Packers didn't find him that way.

  48. I hate this comparison... have teams ever paid a guy more than he was guaranteed because he performed better than paid? No. And one more time, it is not within the rules as defined. They are skirting it on a the fact that readiness is subjective. In regards of that part of the CBA, they are not acting within good faith.
