You are way off here man. Yoan isn’t even arbitration eligible until 2021. Alex Bregman who was in the same situation last offseason essentially agreed to a 6/$100M extension. Moncada would probably cost more because he already has $30M in the bank and might not be eager to sign away two free agent years, but there’s a number way below $300M to lock him up for the next five seasons.
Overcoming an annual expenditure of $50M between two players (Hosmer and Machado) that combine to produce 2-3 fWAR annually is not an easy task for a mid market team like the Padres.
Abreu just has too many negatives as a player. If uou wanna bring him back, fine, but he needs to accept and the Sox need to address it to him that he is a DH only.
Good point. When I make negative remarks about Ricky...they are my way of taking out my frustration with his bunting and lineup propensities. I like Ricky as a person.
How rare is it to have the league leader in RBIs on a 90 loss team. Jose is running away w the AL and may even catch the NL leaders before the month is out. I guess those .300 hitters give him opportunities for RBIs.
I think Madrigal at 1 and Robert at 2 makes the most sense... as long as Ricky is gone and we have rules about not bunting like the A’s. Madrigal gets on and steals and/or Robert drives him in via extra base hits or homers.
I also didn’t realize Nimmo is still so young at 26. I would love that move. And the added touch of Adam Jones is great cuz Kenny would love that move. But for a bench role, Jones would be a great addition.
White Sox players lead in 2 of the 3 Triple Crown categories. Abreu leading in RBI's and Anderson in Batting Average.
Giolito is also tied for the league lead in shutouts and complete games.
He's good at making things disturbing to watch. IT should be extremely disturbing. It's a demon clown that murders childten. This remake was dog shit, Pennywise looked like shit, the CGI somehow in 2019 was shit, the lines were bad, and it was not remotely scary.
That's a bad idea because the draft pick is fool's gold and that AAV is 200% too high even at 1 year. Teams will just wait like they did this year until after the draft to sign him. And Jose and his agent know that.
Oh, I see you just posted that as a follow up.
This is the most obvious team friendly low ball scenario imaginable. Offer him 1 year, 1 option year. AAV around 9-11 million. He won't get better than that on the open market.
With Robert, Madrigal and Kopech joining the big club next year...we will be competitive with average players filling our RF and DH positions. 2 WAR type of players improve us by leaps and bounds. The big money should be spent on pitching both starters and relievers. Pick 2 of Cole, Wheeler, Strasburg or Bumgarner.
