  2. If Adam Engel is able to hit at a .700ish OPS level like he is since his recall, he is a pretty decent 4th OF.

  3. Isn’t it amazing the top 8 home run teams likely make the postseason? For some reason, it’s not the top 8 teams in terms of sac bunts

  4. They had a sky-high price on him if I recall. Even if they reduced it, they still likely could have gotten a good haul. And then this news would have come out. Have to be kicking themselves now. Also, that guy has been such a cancer for them in the clubhouse it seems. I feel like he's been involved in every clubhouse altercation you read about. Like you said, HE GONE. Edit: if he gets released, which team does he eventually sign with, the Cubs? And which reporter will praise Theo and write about how it's great they are giving him another chance?

  5. Nice loss, Ruiz has no business pitching again this year.

  6. Can we please give Ruiz the Jose Paniagua treatment after the game

  7. Tim gave a look at the home run a bit after he hit it. I hope that doesn’t entice the Twins to throw at him in tomorrow’s game. At least he didn’t throw the bat. That would’ve really set them off.

  8. Man, I love that he did that so fucking much. Right in their faces. The fans are pissed. Enjoy being swept in the ALDS, losers.

  9. Good point, it will probably be Madrigal, Timmy and Abreu

  10. I'm not a Benetti fan, but that will change if he keeps bashing the Twins so openly. I fucking hate that team. Go get swept in the divisional series for the sixth consecutive time, you pricks.

  11. 3 game hitting streak for Collind FYI.

  12. $5 million could be a decent relief pitcher. Hahn should be smart enough to make the right move. But then again, his last offseason was putrid for the most part.

  14. You guys must be into some serious self torture to watch a Detwiler start this late into the season.

  15. Rutherford is notably young for his level and was only at AA this year. He should at least get substantial time at AAA. Collins may not be a young pup, but catchers do seem to take longer to develop because they're not just learning to hit, they're learning how to be the field generals managing the whole staff, every pitch, and all the defenders. That does take some time. Given everything he has to learn, I'm ok with him not catching 5 days a week, but I also don't like the idea of him playing 1b a couple days a week...unless you're bringing in a starting catcher elsewhere. If you're either saying that Collins's bat is so good that we need him playing more often, or you're saying that Collins is never going to be a catcher and he's another failure by our scouts, then go ahead and play him at 1b. If you think he can be a catcher long term and you're willing to work at that, then you act like it. If Collins is playing 2-3 days a week and McCann 3-4, I'm ok with that. If McCann is playing 6 days a week and Collins 1 day a week...well I'm ok with that if Mccann is earning it. IMO, he still looked better defensively than Castillo.

  16. Yup. They will definitely regret that one for a long time. And what a P.O.S. Vasquez is. Don't say this often, but I hope that S.O.B. rots in hell.

  18. He's part of the tank/rebuild and is ready. I want him to start at catcher next year. McCann can help him and play 1-2 times a week. I know I said Hahn will never be fired cause of Eloy/Moncada, but he should at least be reprimanded if this No. 10 pick can't start next season and produce. No. 10 pick.

  19. It's a stupid idea denying athletes to compete. It's like NFL teams having players sit out week 16 and then they get hurt in the playoffs. It's that mythical trying to plan around injury.

  20. So when is he going to grow his IP? Throw him 125 back to back years and then next year hes supposed to throw 180-200? Makes no sense. He needs another 20 innings+ this year to put him in position to throw 180-200 next year.

  21. I would take Tatis who is on pace for 43 HR, hits for a high average and is 2 years younger. A shortstop adds much more value than a DH. Tatis also is a threat on the bases.

  22. Throw in Nimmo or another left-handed RF and that’s my exact plan. Collins gets half a season or so to show he’s a major league hitter before Vaughn starts to enter the equation.

  23. It's baseball's fault. Game after game against the same teams. Sickening to play Minnie so often. Why should their fans care? They've already proven they are 10 times better than the Sox team. Why go to the game and pay $$ when you can watch it on TV? 19 games against Minnie. One big LOL to baseball. GIve us a balanced schedule!

  24. When Luis Robert had to poop during a game, White Sox twitter was convinced he had a broken spine.

  25. You absolutely shut him down. Hell of a season Gio. Hopefully he has no issues with it next season.

  26. I agree . Way too many doubters on Collins limited AB's. Sox are in desperate need of LH power and OBP. He can provide both. Give him the time to adjust just like Moncada and Eloy needed that time and probably Robert will also need time.

  27. This sounds weird to me. Unless we're 100% all in next season, he's demonstrated clearly that he can hit pitching at Charlotte over the last few months including making adjustments. If we're going to sign Grandal and cast Collins aside we may as well trade him, but unless we do that, sending him back to Charlotte isn't going to teach him much when we know he can hit AAA pitching.

  28. Jury still out. Play him now and lets find out what we have.

  29. That's fine. His swing is still long and slow. Maybe he'll figure it out, maybe he won't. But he should have to earn another look in Charlotte.

  30. He needs to get the ball in the air more. 48% GBs is too much - right now, if he qualified, he'd be in the top 20 in baseball in GB rate. Once he starts getting the ball in the air more, he will be nearly unstoppable. He's had a great year, but if he could even just drop that 5% to 43%, he could be like Yelich with 50+ bombs.

  31. I'm not worried about scoring runs. I think it's more important to have a veteran catcher who can handle a young staff, even if he's a light hitting catcher. McCann seems to excel in that area.

  33. McCann is an excellent backup. Nothing more.
