  1. Another Jack Parkman hot take... shocker.

  2. Ah, “playoff appearances”. Now that takes me back some!

  3. He had a career .348 OBP, it was .363 over a 10 year prime period, and he had 3 full seasons of a .400+ OBP. Along with good defense I will take that any day of the week and in a double header on Sunday.

  4. Jesus christ. I'm out of this one. You're gonna get torn to shreds.

  5. Yep. It probably has something to do with the amount of playoff appearances in the last 50 years.

  6. He's looking like he might have a shot to get above that now lol.

  7. Calhoun is mediocrity personified. Just because he is better than what the Sox had in RF this year, why are some posters entertaining his potential signing like it would be a good one?!? He is OPS’ing over .800 now but he’s .745 for his career. For a corner OF who doesn’t play good defense, he doesn’t hit well enough either to make up for his weak glove. He’s an awful target other than the fact than he’s a lefty bat. .235 hitter right now. He will be a cheaper Adam Dunn Lite here. And he is turning 32 in a month. Stay the hell away from this guy please. The Sox could and should easily do better.

  8. Sure, if he wasn’t an absolutely terrible hitter. The problem is he’s the 5th worst qualified hitter in all of baseball. That negates much of his defensive value and makes him a fairly ordinary player.

  9. Would I want Maddon if I had my choice of any manager? No. Would I want Maddon over Renteria or Vizquel or any other terrible manager the Sox will likely go with? Yes, of course.

  10. You start off by saying you might have jumped the gun on Collins and then IMMEDIATELY write off his catching. Didnt he catch Thursdays game...when people said he was a terrible hopeless catcher...and yet a bunch of garbage pitchers held hot Twins bats to one run? Wouldn't his bat look great at catcher?

  11. Sandy Alomar, Vizquel, Jirschele and McEwing are the four most obvious.

  12. Fuck no. Dude is on an Ozzie like career path. Won a title and started to think his shit didn't stink.

  13. Without question I would want Joe. No manager is perfect. He is better than 99% of the alternatives.

  14. Joe Maddon out manages himself way too often and has run pens into the ground. I don't think I want to see Wacky Joe lineups with Zack Collins leading off or Jose Abreu playing 3B. No thanks

  15. Dude was an all star with an .800 OPS at age 23. People don't give up on kids when they're age 21-22.

  16. He's at the big prospect farm in the sky.

  17. In a related move, the Patriots have also released owner Robert Kraft who was caught on tape involved in a sex ring that included trafficked humans. Oh, wait.

  18. He had a .710 OPS and hit 35 HR in 19 years. That wouldn't get it done in today's game.

  19. Kind of sad that our debate can only be made amongst 3 players since Emery made 3 good picks in 3 drafts ? Jeffery has been good but I'm referring to just Bears.

  20. Well your mental exercise here really supports his inclusion on the AFL roster. Sox need to learn more about him for the next step. Perhaps they're showcasing him to be a secondary piece in a trade this offseason.

  21. If you don't want a response to me about an idiotic comment about Jose Abreu, then don't post the idiotic comment about Jose Abreu. It's that simple!

  22. Well that's not how the Sox operate. We will offer a deal that has quite the bounty of performance based bonuses that we will pitch against guaranteed offers that are longer and more lucrative. We will then chase this guy hoping that he sees the future bucks are actually better than guaranteed money. We will be razor focused in our pursuit. Once he signs elsewhere Kenny will act shocked. We will then go for a retread that had a pedigree and tell the fans to believe in the process.

  23. Yes WE could. The more wins the better. This rebuild does not hinge on whether we pick 7th or 11th in next year's draft. However, our record that indicates the progress we made from last year, could influence whether a FA wants to sign with us or with a team that has a better chance to make the post-season (assuming the money is comparable).

  24. Next year we will be gloating and looking down are noses at all these lousy teams.?

  25. While I still wish we landed Harper, you’re using one year of results and attendance impacts as proof that he’d be a slam dunk addition. My guess is five or so years from now that deal will be an albatross.

  26. I believe he worded his post like that specifically for that reason. It was a joke.

  28. Is it your personal challenge at this point to make your next comment about Jose Abreu actually dumber than the one that preceded it?

  29. I don't know. Since coming back, in 54 second half games, he's hitting .243/.310/.396/.706, with 5 homers, 5 doubles and a triple. HIs BABIP is two points higher than his career average. He could end up being a pretty valuable defensive replacement if his bat has seriously improved this much.

  30. I don't know for certain that they will, because what the big league squad is doing might matter. There's a genuine possibility that next year the White Sox are sitting a few games over .500 in late July, Vaughn is killing the ball at AA, and our DH position is weak enough that we bring Vaughn up to try to help the big league team. I would also start him at high A next year. I do want them to be aggressive with him, but at the same time he has to earn it.

  31. Fox was a second baseman. He spent all but one of his sox seasons playing next to Hall of Famers Luke Appling and Luis Aparicio. So yeah.

  32. So good news everyone! My cousin owns his own business and is planning to create a spot for me in it. I've worked for him for a short time before on a trial basis, mostly to see what I was and wasn't good at. He knows how I can contribute in a more productive way this time. He suggested I start getting some Comp TIA and other certifications. I just am getting started today and I'm excited for what the future holds!

  34. Our 3rd baseman is better than Machado already and just ever so slightly cheaper.
