  1. He made 1 bad throw. Jesus christ some of you really are the 11 pm 670 meathead callers

  2. well not every team has a elite passer on the bench waiting to take over so they have to take a chance on a journeyman until they find the guy. I know this is strange to you

  3. I wish you and people like you making similar arguments would call into the Score and get roasted by vintage Dan Bernstein.

  4. I’ll take it. Kicked ass and Mitch had some tds. Still more room to grow but a win is a win! Vikings game is going to be tough.

  5. And hopefully next year with a little more reason to be optimistic ?

  6. That's why we should aim for our getting our top priority locked up as quickly as possible, even if it means overpaying. Whether it's Cole, or Grandal, or somebody else...just overpay them right out of the gate, get them on board, and use that to attract other free agents. If you combine our young core with a solid free agent, we become a pretty desirable place. Yes, I know they money still needs to be offered, but the point remains.

  7. The White Sox are in a great position to win a lot of games in the future. If they wanted to they have the flexibility to overpay, get both Cole and Strasburg, and still be an average team in terms of payroll in MLB. Will they do this? NO. But could they? I think It's possible. The question that remains is if and when they will spend to complete rebuild and how far they are willing to go. I don't mind that the White Sox save a lot of money and rebuild from time to time as long as they spend and invest in high caliber players when their teams are in a good position to win.

  8. A tradition unlike any other - Sox fans pining to acquire Cubs players. There are 28 other clubs gents! Also, Ian Happ sucks.

  9. So everyone is supposed to dream small or tell themselves the rebuild will fail because we are doomed to always getting non elite players in Free Agency ? We all know the odds of getting Cole are not good but what Sarava said is spot on.

  10. Indeed. One of the most persistent false narratives among baseball fans.

  11. It would be a reversal of everything he has done in the past. But Jerry turns 84 before next season starts. If he wants to win another World Series, signing Gerrit Cole is probably the best path to take to accomplish that. Rich Hahn keeps saying the money will be there. Now it's put up or shut up time. The money being there for a #3 starter means nothing. Are we trying to win the World Series, or just trying to be a pretty good team? Chicago is a big market. It's time for them to act like a big market team and not like the Pittsburgh Pirates. Not signing a #1 puts a ton of pressure on Kopech, Cease and Giolito to all pan out at their best case scenario, which of course is unlikely.

  12. He threw the ball to the other team on the goal line. Pardon me if I object to that. Hope we didn't upset you Mrs Trubisky. I am sure Mitch is a fine young man. You should be proud. Have a great evening.

  13. You were misrepresenting the truth by saying he only had one bad throw. Plus, those shorter throws under ten yards should be on the money for an NFL QB. That’s why a few people noticed them and mentioned them in this thread.

  14. wow are people really in here talking about possibly getting Cole? sadists

  15. Part of the problem is that the sets they use for running arent that amazing. Too many runs out of shotgun, it doesnt really let the lineman get going downhill. I think the last series is the first time Ive seen them in I-form all year. IMO Nagy spends so much time thinking of clever plays, he gets away from working on the basics. The Bears are up 28, its not the time to be running Patterson up the middle. Its the time to get Montgomery work, etc.

  16. Mitch only made one bad throw? That is just not true. What game are you guys watching?

  17. Yes they are. The defense just allowed a TD on a 97 yard drive to the Redskins. they must be the worst defense in the league. A good defensive wouldnt allow that to Case Keenum.

  18. Legitimate question: Why is anyone fascinated with Mazara? Baseball reference stats. .7 WAR. He is a slightly below league avg bat with negative defense. He is left-handed which is a positive but his walk rate has roughly gone from .06 to .05 to .04 which is exactly what we don't need. I see a poor glove, not great bat who strikes out a lot and doesn't walk. Also, you have to give up something for him. Calhoun 2.5 WAR, better defense, walks at nearly.09 rate, also lefty. OPS better than league avg 112. negative k's more. One year left on deal at 14 million. Angels up against spending limits so may get for salary relief as they have a high prospect ready. Prior to hot streak there was talk he could be released for $ savings.

  20. I don't pay attention to Sox stuff on twitter or facebook. So I'm not really sure what he speaks of. Here on soxtalk and another message board I post on...I think Sox fans have been remarkably forgiving considering much of the incompetence over the last 10 years. The last 10 years have been so bad, that they should be grateful that there's still people out there who care.

  21. Why do you post like your ABV is near danger levels?

  22. Indeed. Sad to see another team’s front office clown the Sox twice and then make a move that the Sox should be making.

  23. Padres FO is ahead of ours in a variety of ways. I'd bet Greg's house on it not happening.

  24. Padres just fired their manager. Here is their official statement: "I want to thank Andy for his tireless work and dedication to the Padres over the last four seasons," Preller said in the statement. "This was an incredibly difficult decision, but one we felt was necessary at this time to take our organization to the next level and expedite the process of bringing a championship to San Diego. Our search for a new manager will begin immediately." I wonder if the Sox will eventually do the same.

  25. The White Sox are going to need table setters at the top of that batting order. I'm looking for Madrigal to be one of those guys. I want Robert to be protection for Eloy. Then they'll both have great seasons. Batting Luis first or second is a vulgar use of his abilities. He is going to be an RBI producing machine. But of course, that'll be so Renteria-like. Now if the Sox go out and get JDM as their DH that'll be chilling.

  26. Runs well. Never will make the wrong "fundamentally-incorrect" plays on defense. Will improve the rest of the defense, especially Anderson's performance next year after Madrigal is paired with him. Like a manager on the field. Work ethic/role model. He knows how to adjust his offensive approach situationally, especially advancing baserunners/making contact. Always has a chip on his shoulder from being underestimated, never takes anything for granted or given.

  27. Franklin's in Austin is the best in the world. The chef has won a James Beard Award for his BBQ. Expect looooooooooooong lines. Personally, I'd head to Lockhart and double or triple up. Black's is my favorite for the food but Smitty's has a presentation that everyone should experience. https://austin.eater.com/2016/6/16/11954976/lockhart-texas-barbecue-where-to-eat

  29. 95-67. This team is going to score a ton of runs. The starting rotation will over achieve. The starting rotation will even be better after Giolito is no longer on the team and replaced by Cease. Bullpen is greatly improved. This should be a Playoff team this 2019 season. White Sox fans will be dancing in the streets this year.

  30. 86 plus Much improved bullpen & and line-up. If starters over perform we compete for the division. Can't wait until more of you jump on the bandwagon.
