  1. Highly left-handed, have lots of corner OF alternatives, and may not want to play Nimmo in CF long-term. If they are committed to Conforto in RF and want to keep rotating McNeil, Smith, & Davis through LF to maximize their usage, they may be better off trading Nimmo and acquiring a natural CF. And it’s very possible his neck issues create another incentive for moving him.

  2. Give me a friggin break. This man has own the Sox for 38 years and has exactly 5 playoff appearances to show for it. With his ever-changing metrics we've been in a perpetual state of rebuilding since he took the keys from Veeck. Meanwhile he and that cabal continue to laugh at us all the way to the bank. Hell yeah he said it. Ironically, Reinsdorf stopped trying to follow his own advice years ago. The Chicago American League Ballclub Inc is exactly where he wants them to the glee of his investor$. And he must in absolute heaven over the charade he has going at the UC.

  3. Lol me too. Can somebody come up with a chart showing our first place finishes under Reinsdorf? How many times has it happened?!

  4. Don't even bother saying this, because he won't sell. The most frustrating thing about all of this is that most fans have known full well that the White Sox have needed to change, but we have seen the same tired old faces hang around and we get the same results. Okay, I understand the idea behind a rebuild. But what makes this rebuild different than the various other ones that have happened during the last half century? Why should we really think this particular rebuild is going to work? Have people grown smarter? Are they adjusting to the way the game is changing? Is merely loading up on young talent going to lead to real winning? To tell you the truth, I'm sick of the losing and the empty promises. That much I know for sure.

  5. You could have stopped there. Jerry has been a horrific owner, no doubt about it. I'm personally grateful for the one WS. Not to be an ingrate, but in 38 years in a city as big as Chicago, you would expect at least one WS title. As a matter of fact, without that WS appearance Reinsdorf would be considered one of the worst baseball owners in history. He got it however and that's a shining star on his baseball resume. Still five playoffs in 38 years? Cmon that is wretched. Also I know The Cell is OK and has been OK, but it's not as if Jerry has us playing in a palace like Old Comiskey. I know the Sox needed modern locker rooms and training facilities and needed a new stadium, but frankly Jerry's ownership group kind of got us a stadium that rates a 'blah' on the blah-wow specrtum. Old Comiskey was a WOW when it was full. In short, Jerry's has been an awful ownership group. Fans have been very good to him. Our crowds in the Cell have been pretty darn good year to year considering the product. I wish he'd sell now.

  6. Marshall gave us millions in surplus value last year. Even if he regressed to a 4era pitcher he’s still worth 1.3 mil. Hell hes worth that sitting in the minors as insurance for injuries.

  7. 1st and foremost Sox have to make better use of the guys who are non tendered. Last year they could 've picked some decent talent and but didn't pursue anyone as far as we know. The Red Sox have projected arbitration salaries of $70M for 12 players. Yes , that's right $70M . It's even possible Jackie Bradley jr. gets non tendered if the Red Sox plan on making a run at quality starting pitching free agents. Another guy I'd keep an eye on is Blake Treinen. A's probably non tender him after a bad season and back problems. He was lights out in 2018 but is your typical up and down season to season reliever but that outstanding 2018 season makes him intriguing Jurickson Profar might also be non tendered. The Reds may non tender Kevin Gausman and look to resign him fast before anyone jumps on him like they did with Aristides Aquino last years. Anyway I'm sure a thread will open up right after Dec. 2nd to discuss this stuff. A's need to rebuild their BP ,might not be a bad idea to see what they think of Colome's worth. A's have some prospects in the OF I wouldn't mind taking a shot at like Greg Deichmann (24) and 20 year old Cuban OF Lazaro Armenteros who is pretty raw but a smaller version of Luis Robert that the A's paid $3M for in IFA. Deichmann is LH and leading the AFL in HR's so far halfway through the Fall league schedule. They also have Luis Berrera who took a big step forward this year but doesn't have much power. He is good enough however to play CF . He is 23 and LH and had a very nice year in AA. I would think AJ Puk and Jesus Luzardo are off limits. Sox could always throw in one of their OF prospects to enhance any deal.

  9. It would be great if for once the White Sox were owned by a biilionaire whose sole purpose in purchasing the team is to build the best team that he possibly can. Someone like a Mark Cuban. We, as fans, don't need someone sitting on a stool wearing a visor and making entries in his ledger to make sure that the shareowners are getting maximum return on their investment.

  10. At least have taste and post the real deal

  11. The problem is you need to leave some flexibility for the young guys’ arbitration raises / extensions or your payroll will quickly balloon past your limit. If that limit is around $160M (only based on what you’re suggesting), it’s unrealistic to expect that in 2020. There certainly will be some phasing to all this. That being said, a league average payroll should be possible IMO.

  12. Please, no. I don't care if White Sox fans love him he is a bad announcer. They don't need to pick someone White Sox fans know for color announcer. No one knew who Jason was before he joined the booth.

  13. I still think trying to extend Moncada and Giolito should be one of the main priorities this offseason

  14. Ehhh...I think Nylander for Jokiharju is already a disaster, and going to get worse. If they are as bad as they look, I don’t see how Stan sticks around.

  15. Let me preface this by saying I think you are one of the best posters on this website. You seem to be thinking Boston is a good trade partner because they are cap conscious. I even understand liking JBJ. I wanted him when he was much younger and for 1 year he would be great. My problem is why do u keep wanting to trade away assets for 1 year players ? It's not the time . The Sox are rising there is still much the Sox have to wait on. Will Moncada maintain , fall, or get even better? Same with Anderson Will Eloy become our version of JDM ? How fast will Lopez ,Cease, Kopech .Dunning become good or will they at all ? Is Gio a legit top of the rotation guy ? Can Collins become the LH power/OBP bat and be a good enough catcher to stick ? Can some of the minor league OF's show enough growth to be counted on for future use ? Will Vaughn rise quickly ? He would have to show a lot in AA this year to even consider him next year and AA is typically not a good place for our talent to take a step forward. How long will Abreu be here and for how much money ? Will he be the primary DH ? Is Eloy the future DH ? Will a guy like Mercedes even get a chance to prove he can be a legit hitter in the majors. Basically he's the only non top draft pick I'd want to see since guys like Sanchez, Leury and Engel Palka Cordell etc have been given chances. I'd really like to see DH handled internally given that we will probably still have Abreu . I really wonder if the Sox have shopped him around at all or are all the rumors about him being here to stay really true. In my mind still way to many questions than answers in the lineup but more so among the starting pitching. That's why getting starting pitching is so important . If the young starting pitching can improve quickly maybe anyone we pick up as a FA can be traded for assets instead of dealing from our quickly diminishing minor league talent now. Make pitching the priority and deal with position players afterwards. I'm much more optimistic about the hitting getting better and having Robert and Madrigal in the lineup than I am with pitchers finding command . There are just too many of them that will need time. If the Sox can get some good FA starting pitching I'd feel much more comfortable making trades.

  16. After reading your post, I wanted to relate this story. I have had a booth at SoxFest several times during the years. One year Eddie Einhorn's wife and son were next to me. His son had done a documentary on the 1983 division winners. Since we were going to be next to each other for the weekend, I went over and introduced myself to Mrs. Einhorn. She seemed a little shocked. Someone was being nice to her? I didn't like some of the things Eddie had done, but I saw no reason to be rude to his family. Or to him, for that matter. I heard from one former Chicago sportswriter that Eddie was an engaging person. Anyway, we need to remember we are all people. And fans must remember it is tough to be a public person. Jerry Reinsdorf has become reclusive and that is one reason he uses Steve Stone as a spokesman, although I don't think Stone is all that effective as a spokesman. As I have said before, it is time to tone down the anger. It is not good for the fans, and it is not good for the future of the franchise.

  18. Great thread. It reminds me of how many people criticized Hahn about the Sale trade when Moncada was struggling in his first year. "We should have demanded Benintendi...blah blah blah" The hindsight bias that exists on this message board (and every sports message board in the history of message boards) is so ridiculous at times. Bottom line: We had three great cost-controlled assets, and Hahn got a great return for all three. In addition, the extensions we gave them prior to that made them such a valuable trade chip. Hahn deserves a lot of credit for those trades.

  21. Hawk was a train wreck at the end. The guy would go entire innings saying like 2 sentences when it was his inning. When the Sox were bad he was unbearable. Jason is light years better than Hawk, it's not even close.

  22. Let’s hope he leaves someday. The Sox announcers suck.

  23. Yeah 3B seems like a pretty low priority target. I know Moncada can, and has said he would, play anywhere, but that doesn't mean they SHOULD move him.

  24. I don’t see him being a target.
