  1. I don't see Cole, Strasburg or Rendon happening either. But there is a solid group of FA after those three before you get the dumpster diving you're pushing for. Plus, Ozuna and JDM are not getting 9 figure deals. The Sox need to sign one of Grandal or JD Martinez. A big bat has to happen. They need to sign a SP just below the tier of Cole/Strasburg - whether that is Wheeler, or Bumgarner, or Ryu, they all work. After that, I am OK filling in the gaps with guys like Hamels, Miley, Alex Gordon/Kole Calhoun/Dickerson/Gardner, etc., but they need to add two of the ten or so FA, or this is never going to work.

  2. That's a good point, but I don't think anyone should buy the reason he hasn't played in 3 years is because he sucks. To deny he was blackballed, isn't being realistic.

  3. Ozuna a superior player, but I was for A) never losing Avi and now B) signing Avi...Brings power and a solid bat to this lineup, potential DH/backup RF? My ideal realistic offseason consisted off adding 2 of Hamels, Q, Miley, Avi, and Alex Gordon...along with bringing back Abreu SS Anderson 3B Moncada CF Robert 1B Abreu LF Eloy DH Avi RF Gordon C McCann/Collins 2B Madrigal With Yolmer, Leury and...Holt? off the bench Super fun to think about...And maybe, just maybe, we can have somewhat of a consistent lineup finally Gio-Hamels-Miley-Cease-Lopez with Kopech and Rodon coming back and Dunning at some point is super fun too

  4. I'm hesitant to commit $80 million to Ozuna, but I'll totally go with that deal and if it blows up I'll call it a gamble I'd do again.

  5. If this was a computer game and not real life I’d love this idea. Essentially Tampa Bay do this as given there budget it’s the only option really and then strike when a core arrives together. this isn’t a computer game however, we fans and sponsors to appease. Ideally we need to grow these two areas and an even longer rebuild would deminish this. further more waiting for this core to arrive may not happen if players flame out. We have a core growing now, let’s use it, let’s spend! If it means we need to rebuild or re-tool again in 2023 or what we so be it.

  6. Let’s maybe set our expectations a bit higher.

  7. Do the LaRoche's come along as part of a package deal, along with the Tattered Sale Jersey giveaway night?

  8. The Lux/Verdugo/May (probably taking on Turner's or Jensen's salary) for Moncada deal has been bandied about...at SoxTalk. The problem is that while the latter two look to be solid players, you're betting on Lux to be a superstar to really make it worthwhile. Then you're without a 3B again in a year or two...and Burger's not exactly next in line for the spot. Once again, you're having to move someone (Anderson or Lux) to 3B to fill yet another hole that just popped up. I would say...just go out and sign Rendon, but this is the White Sox we're talking about, after all.

  9. Agreed about two quality players. However, when has a player like Moncada been traded? It's possible his value is too high for other teams to entertain. The trade would need to include 3 studs in it, plus at least one other quality prospect

  10. We can certainly do better than Ozuna in RF, but I wouldn't upset if we signed him to a 3-4 year deal and he was our 3rd or 4th best addition this off-season. He's an acceptable complimentary piece in an otherwise much larger off-season IMO.

  11. Doubtful Gregorius gets a QO. If he does, hard no.

  12. That roster you proposed is likely under 90 million dollars.

  13. This is probably a lost season, although I think they were 3-3 last year. But their offense hasn't been this bad since Bob Avelini. Chances that it turns around when the head coach admits he has no answers is very doubtful. I just hope the Bears dont stick with Mitch like they did with Cutler, way past the time it was obvious things aren't going to ever be good enough.

  14. Your last paragraph is just flat out wrong. Only like 2 or 3 teams had Mahomes as #1. The rest of the teams all had Mitch/Watson #1/2 in one order or the other. It was absurd to watch college football and see what Watson did to Alabama and not think he was so much better... but NFL teams have no idea what they're looking for when evaluating a QB and overthink things. Almost no one had mahomes ahead of trubisky.

  15. Oh my. Enough blaming the coach for the QB being complete trash. Putting too much on the 2nd pick in the draft in his 3rd full NFL season. How long do you need to baby him? He's not a "young QB" anymore. Enough with the experience excuses. It's not the coaching staffs fault that Mitch can never find the open guy. It's not the coaching staffs fault that Mitch can't hit basic corner routes and seem routes - missed 1 TD and one massive gain yesterday. It's not the coaches fault the QB cant read a defense pre snap and adjust to the proper play. Nagy should run more, he's making mistakes no doubt but the bears problems this year are tied to the fact that their QB just is not good.

  16. Honestly I'd rather have Avi Garcia at significantly less $$ and years.

  17. There's only a few teams that can deploy this strategy well -- and it's lead by the Rays. Even with all of their talent on the MLB roster and on the way i wouldn't trade my spot with them.

  18. He didn't trade up to get Daniels.

  19. This early in the off-season, I would expect an article like this to highlight a team's glaring need more than any real connection. I expect the Sox to be there, but right now, i'm certain there's nothing to this.

  20. If the Bears are done with Trubisky, you have to fire the GM right? He traded up to the 2nd overall spot and took a bad QB and passed on two superstar qb's. Not to mention some of his other mistakes. The whole RB situation, Anthony Miller looks like a 2nd round bust. Overpaid average players, Burton and Gabriel. The way he has drafted in general has been more bad than good. He trades away a lot of picks to move up.

  21. Maybe they can put all their players up in prospective trades to see which ones the Astros actually like...then find better coaching for those guys.

  22. Tim Anderson has the ability to make some plays at SS that I'm sure even Omar Vizquel is impressed with but he also makes a lot of errors. What if this doesn't improve? He did lead the league in errors in 2019 and only played in 123 games. At what point would a change in position be considered? I know the White Sox front office thought about moving TA to CF last year to give Manny Machado his choice of 3B or SS. Instead of trying to find a RF in a down year for free agents at that position what if the Sox moved TA to CF or RF and signed someone like Didi Gregorius to play SS? That seems like it could be a better option defensively and maybe also offensively than signing a player like Ozuna to me.

  23. So wouldn't this be 3rd generation rebuild? Enough already

  24. My god Mitch is absolutely terrible. He was at least serviceable last year and flashed some upside, but he’s gone completely backwards this year. I don’t even care about Mahomes & Watson, I’m speechless of how we thought Mitch was the guy and have somehow allowed him to actually get worse.

  26. Didn't we learn anything last offseason? Signing Anthony Rendon isn't up to Rick Hahn. That's above his pay grade.
