  2. I'd go after Rendon, put Moncada in RF, and then sign Billy Hamilton to play center and finally get a leadoff hitter. Mendick can play 2B while Madrigal continues to develop.

  3. I feel like three or four of the most frequent posters on Soxtalk hate him for some reason. So there is a general feeling that hes a bust based on a handful of loud voices. It does seem like the organization has given up on him being a catcher...but power, LH and amazing OBP should make him an attractive part of the team. I'm excited for him.

  4. 1. Have a lack of OBP players on the team. 2. Have a lack of left handed hitters with promising power on the team. 3. Trade said player who potentially provides both. Would be so White Sox I'll say that.

  6. This illustrates my point perfectly.

  8. Andrew Vaughn and Tyler Johnson were named to the Team USA 2020 Summer Olympics Baseball team roster. Joe Girardi will mange the team. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/white-sox-prospects-to-represent-team-usa-as-road-to-olympics-begins-562751651.html

  9. Amen. Don't understand hatred of guys who have done nothing to deserve hatred. He's gonna be 25 in February so I just wish they'd make him everyday catcher. Is he gonna have to wait forever?

  10. And you think they would make less if they played the field? Because the player that made the most in total guaranteed money on that list signed still playing the field. How much does Giancarlo Stanton make? Congrats though on getting to make a list of players.

  12. He literally says "I'm not sure what he's trying to do". Yelich needs to not be Charmin Ultra. It doesn't make sense to dunk on Yu either when your team couldn't hit him the entire year.

  13. Yu absolutely was accusing him, as he pointed out earlier in the day a team doing this

  14. Yeah it makes Yelich look like a fucking bag though. Brewers put up a whopping 0.90 ERA against him this year. Also Yu wasn't even accusing him. A little defensive there from the best player on a team that has at least been accused, credibly or not, of sign stealing.

  15. I'm starting to come around to the idea of something like : Wheeler, Ryu, Grandal, Castellanos. Not a huge fan of Pederson. But that would be a very interesting offseason. A lot of timebombs there with Ryu and Wheelers deals possibly blowing up in our faces, but I'd at least consider that an A offseason.

  16. Rookie rankings using Nate Silver's new RAPTOR metric, which captures defense much better than any other advanced statistic:

  17. Maybe. I don't know how you know this for sure, but I guess it's a possibility. But it doesn't matter if they are above or under the radar. To get Cole, they'll have to pay top dollar and beat out the usual big spenders. That hasn't been in Reinsdorf's wheelhouse to do so the past four decades, if you haven't noticed. Not for a pitcher, anyway.

  18. JR has entered a rebuild and traded with the cubs several times while owner. Hahn's checklist gimmick is idiotic. If he believes those checklist items align with winning then he needs to explain why they hadn't done them before. If he thinks they aren't, then why should we care? It's meatball theatre.

  19. If I were the Sox and I was going to pursue Cole, I would act exactly this way and tell Stone and Merkin to say exactly what they said. After being let down with Machado, I would not want the same thing to happen. Now, that doesn't mean we ARE pursuing Cole. We very well might not have any interest in him. I just think that this is the perfect way to act if we were going after him.

  20. I mean, granted, it's Disney, so it's not like they'll miss the money, but you're obviously an adult with means. You should go out of your way to support art/movies/video games you actually enjoy, versus pirating them like you're a high school kid without the means to do so. I was a big software pirate at one point in my life -- so much so that I was listed in e-mags (of the time) of being one of the top software "traders" in the world. That sort of happened out of what started from necessity -- I simply couldn't afford anything, so I went looking for it in unscrupulous places -- but it blew up into what it became ... which in hindsight was pretty stupid. That said, as an adult with means, if a program, game, movie or television show comes out I actually enjoy, I pay for it now ... because I can, and those that put in the work to create it deserve to be paid accordingly.

  21. Let’s hope! After all, Jose is the team leader in the clubhouse for a reason. The more players the Sox have who comport themselves the way Jose has all these years, with his work ethic and positive attitude, the better the team’s chances.

  22. Longenhagen has him at 60 raw which is a bit light for a top 1b prospect (60 game is good but most have raw power half to a full grade below game power so most 60 raw guys are more 50-55 game guys) however he also thinks he has the bat control to get to all of his raw power. I think Vaughn will be able to hit 30+ but he isn't a pete Alonso type of pop guy. But if he averages 27 homers, .285 avg and a .370 obp in his prime years that would be great, basically what they got from abreu in a slightly different fashion (more walk, bit less on the power and avg).
