I'm really really going to enjoy the Cub demise and the White Sox ascension over the next 3-5 years. The Cubs gotta might fat and arrogant, but reality is about to hit them hard.6 points

If I'm Rick Hahn, and I sign Zack Wheeler, I approach the podium at SoxFest and plant my junk firmly atop it.6 points

Man would it be nice for an early Grandal signing to really set the tone for this offseason.6 points

Yes, they sat Grandal in the playoffs and then let him walk because they had prospects behind him... Grandal signed a 1 year deal - the Dodgers could have had him on a two year deal if they wanted to move on when the prospects were ready. The Dodgers were not fans of Grandal - they did not like how he called/received a gamd. Idk what to tell you. So... your argument is grandal is the best catcher in baseball but the Dodgers had prospects in their system so they let him walk. The Dodgers just played Russell Martin for nearly half their games. Good take a month ago by you when I said the sox should sign Grandal as a tier 2, complimentary guy and that he'd fit the mold to make the team better... you posted the following... But, now that we sign him you're all in. HAH!! Spare me. Your takes are cold, flip flop, and are consistently off base. They are statistically, factually wrong, but I don't want to rehash this over and over again.5 points

Bruce Levine on the score pretending this was expected; after saying otherwise. Then he said the Sox now need to add a left handed bat who can hit 25 homers; I guess Bruce must think that Grandal is right handed lol.5 points

So you think this is going to be the only big move they make... on November 21st, 2019... before the Winter Meetings even start? NO matter what this team does, someone will make it negative. Amazing honestly.5 points

Who is the dumbass coming in here and laughing at positive posts? Go away, you fool.5 points

This is huge for A LOT of reasons. Let's see if I can summarize my thoughts on why this is a huge signing. 1. Timing: The White Sox just inked a major free agent before the Winter Meetings. This means they learned to go in with a top dollar bid and not play games. They signed him in COMPLETE silence; the last update on the market was that it was slow moving and yet, here we are 1 hour later signing Grandal. 2. Silence: However stupid this may be, this team is significantly better when they operate behind closed doors without a ton of leaks and bravado. When they shut up and get it done, that's when there are results. 3. Only the beginning: This is the FIRST signing; this leads me to believe that Grandal was one of the main priorities. This also confirms that his market wasn't as big as many thought. Regardless, I think the Sox may have quite a few larger offers on the table right now trying to wrap up negotiations early. This has me hyped. Don't stop now boys.5 points

Just having Puig and Tim Anderson to drive people nuts is enough reason for me to want him around. Let's play heel. But fun heel, not like Astros heel.4 points

I’m in the Eminor camp on this one. Prefer the big money be spent towards pitching and I sure hope this doesn’t prevent them from doing so...4 points

I will predict that Grandal's play style will drive some White Sox fans nuts. That said, I loved this quote from Kenny:4 points

And also if they haven't had one yet it's ALSO concerning (see chris sale)3 points

I forgot that they knew each other. Another positive to this deal. I don't think Collins is getting traded. They're going to work together.3 points

That’s your opinion and I have mine on the 31 year old catcher. Just hope he doesn’t turn into Wellington offensively now that he’s been paid!3 points

I would argue Wheeler is in a tier of his own, and I think he’s gonna get $100M. And I fear that this puts a wheeler in jeopardy. MadBum/Keuchel/etc. are solid 3/4 starters. Getting one of those guys and calling it an offseason is exactly what I fear. Come on man, because it’s what the White Sox have always done. Get one 32 year old guy, and PR the fuck out of it. You’re gonna hear “we went and signed the richest contract in franchise history” a lot this year.3 points

Rick Hahn brilliantly put Catcher Yermin Mercedes on the 40 man roster to throw everyone off the scent.3 points

This does not take them out of Wheeler/Ryu/Madbum category. They were never signing the top 2.3 points

Guys....this is so amazing. Get Wheeler, trade for a RF, and fill in a couple gaps with cheap stop gaps and we got a fucking SQUAD!!!2 points

People thought he'd get 4 and 70 or 3 and 53. So $17-18 AAV was the expectation. To get him this early you'd need to add a little bit, but it wasn't that much of an overpay.2 points

Also love to see the White Sox in shadow ops mode. This came outta nowhere mostly.2 points

This isn't accurate. Wheeler: 2018 fwar: 4.2; 2019 fWAR: 4.7 Keuchel: 2018 fWAR: 3.3; 2019 fWAR: 0.8 Wheeler only made 17 starts in 2017 after coming back from surgery. He wasn't good (0.2) fWAR. Keuchel was 2.3 fWAR in 2017. So even including 2017, Wheeler has amassed 9.1 fWAR since 2017; Keuchel 6.40 fWAR. So, yah...that's wrong.2 points

"We offered Zack 5/85MM with 20MM incentives if he wins 7 CY Young awards during his contract, our offer was better than the 5/$105MM GTD. We no longer have a seat at the table."2 points

Oh look I can use stats too and the most recent ones which should count way more than when he was at A and AA. The Sox had him up for a cup of coffee in June and July . He sucked. So he went back down to AAA to work on a few things. So in July at AAA after being sent back down he hit 43 AB , .349 BA , .453 OBP , .488 SLG , .941 OPS . Pretty impressive but he was just getting warmed up for August. 80 AB, .338 BA , .455 OBP .763 SLG , 1.217 OPS .Monster numbers , These numbers are just ridiculously awesome even if it was for just 80 ABS . Combine it with July making it 123 AB's and they are still crazy good. His last 8 games with the Sox 34 AB, .276 BA , .382 OBP , .552 SLG , .934 OPS . His full season stats at AAA BA .282 , 403 OBP, .548 Slg , .951 OPS. I'd hardly call that "not a very good hitter." If Collins can hit ,240 have an OBP of ,350 and hit 25 HR's he basically is Yasmani Grandal as a hitter without the switch hitting .We should all be hoping he can be a good enough catcher defensively to be the catcher of the future .2 points

Last year these are the cumulative stats for Sox 7, 8, and 9 hitters: 7th spot - .248/.303/.398 8th spot - .239/.305/.324 9th spot - .209/.281/.321 Collins is not a complete hitter by any means, but I would be willing to bet he could provide better production if given the chance.2 points

Omar Vizquel was definitely more concerned with advancing in the profession than doing anything on the Player Development side for the Sox. He now gets the chance to that elsewhere.2 points

I've seen Ricky Renteria work as a manager, and that makes me a lot more upset.2 points
