  1. They aren't trading Madrigal and Vaughn. Not this off-season. Carry on.

  2. Yes, we already have one crappy hitting right fielder. Let’s not add another in JBJ. 2017: .726 OPS 2018: .717 OPS 2019: .738 OPS If the deal for Price doesn’t include Benintendi and cash for prospects like Collins and Rutherford, walk away and sign Ryu or Keuchel.

  3. Back in my youth I traveled around the Midwest to play Street Fighter competitively. Gala West in Naperville was absolutely epic on Friday and Saturday nights. At 11, there were few things more satisfying than kicking the shit out of adults at a game. Best character: Guile. Favorite character: Dhalsim I transitioned over to Mortal Kombat, but was never quite at the same level in that game. Then I discovered weed, booze and girls and my priorities changed

  4. Jerry Reinsdorf, Kenny Williams, Rick Hahn, Jon Paxson, and Gar Foreman does it for me

  5. Vaughn and Madrigal should be a good enough package to acquire pretty much any player the Sox could want. Even discussing them in connection with David Price is insulting.

  6. The White Sox were tanking last year you dipshit. So I take it you don't want to take the bet?

  7. When was the last time a trade was telegraphed this long before executing? I’m not wasting any energy on this. It was bogus from the jump.

  8. 100% agree. The Shields trade was a failure to begin with simply because James was completely useless.

  9. He signed after the trade deadline?

  10. My lord, the shields bs again. Hahn has traded away plenty of prospects. One lotto ticket worked against him. This narrative is so tiring. Semien was a big leaguer when he was traded and frankly, no one has any idea what he would have become here. I've said this about 1000 times, but friedman traded Yordan Alvarez for Josh Fields. Does that mean Friedman doesnt know how to trade? Everyone gets burned once in a while if you're active enough in the trade market.. Its not easy to trade three high valued assets and win every single trade; regardless of how little credit you want to give him for those moves. I dont worry about hahn getting fleeced in a trade one bit.

  11. Ok, White Sox. It's time to get a fucking plan together here. Not adding a SP was not an option. You don't miss on Wheeler and just say "fuck it" after signing a 31 year old catcher to the richest deal in team history. Also, the fact that that was the richest deal in team history shows we've been on the sidelines doing jack squat for far too long.

  12. @Orlando your photoshop skills are apparently better than we all thought

  13. Because if we aren't going to spend the money for Ryu there are no other options who have any chance of being a #2-#3 starter without trading away someone like Robert, and we desperately need one right now without trading away an untradeable player.

  14. I'm not giving up Vaughn and Madrigal for Blake Snell or Mike Clevinger so if they both got dealt for Price, Nintendo and some cash I will literally be rooting for the entire FO to burn in hell.

  17. Bradley has no spot on this roster post-Nomar acquisition

  18. This would be like if we offered them James Shields and Adam Eaton in exchange for Michael Kopech and Rafael Devers.

  19. The only way that you think about Vaughn or Madrigal is if the Red Sox are sending $60 million and giving you JBJr (I think we can forget about Benintendi.) Even then, do you really want David Price on a 3 year contract for $36 million? Anyone? JBJr. is just a salary dump, again...going into FA next year. The one thing about Bradley is he would improve the defense by leaps and bounds. You could play him and Robert together and DH Mazara and/or Jimenez. But still don't really like it for the White Sox because of all the concerns overhanging David Price going forward...and then losing Bradley into FA and having to fight to fill the position yet again (assuming one of the minor league OFer's doesn't break through next year.)

  20. Why would anyone do that deal, unless they are a Red Sox fan? Betts would leave after 1 year. Hell he'd probably go back to Boston to win some World Series' with Vaughn and Madigral. I swear. Some of you want this rebuild to collapse in front of our eyes, before it's even gotten going.

  21. I worry more about their big league evaluations, for which Shields was a catastrophic failure. The Tatis thing was just bad luck.

  22. JFC. You are so gd obtuse. The guy is arb eligible. He can be non-tendered for $0 after next season. The only chance Mazara is on the 2021 roster is if he has a great 2020. Look at like a 1 year deal with a team option. IT IS NOT A TWO YEAR DEAL. I know you're just trolling me, but gd, you're annoying.

  23. An agent’s dream. Division rivals with a shot at competing bidding against each other.

  24. You don't think the Sox can contend if they land one of Price/Keuchel/Ryu and say Bailey/Wood as a 2nd starter? Bring in Encarnacion and a vet 2B as well. They might be the division favorites but they can contend. It's December 17th and the Twins currently have 2 pitchers in their opening day rotation.

  26. I'm happy our new philosophy is to play for the 24 and 25 seasons when our best position player and best pitcher will be gone. This is fine strategy. Don't force the issue now because we want to be ready to go full force with out Yoan and Gio!

  27. Maybe they sign a flier or two, but essentially done

  28. I mean....who are the 4 out of 5? Giolito is already at worst an above average MLB SP. Lopez is already at worst an average or slightly below average MLB SP. Cease is already in the big leagues, though it wasn't pretty overall but showed flashes. Kopech is at worst going to be an average SP. Obviously we need more out of those guys than being average...but its not like we're projecting 5 SP prospects that are years away from the big leagues to make it. Pretty much all of these guys already have made it - its just a question of if they develop into above average pitchers. You may be looking at 40-60% success rate on guys that are years away, but I think we can project a little higher than that considering where these guys are in their development. Could one of Cease or Kopech completely flop? Yah, I suppose. But I don't see it as very likely unless they have career ending injury situations.

  29. I believe I said if Dallas Keuchel is our big FA SP addition I'll be seething. He's not very good and his numbers have been getting worse. He's not going to kill the team like Madbum at 5/100 would if he takes a 3 year deal but he's such a gross signing and does nothing for me, in my humblest of opinions.

  31. This roster on paper looks excellent. There is one thing that worries me: Injuries

  32. Just like they did with Zack Wheeler, right?

  33. To be fair... let's just be optimistic for a bit. Eloy in LF, Robert does the job in CF. Anderson and Moncada do their jobs on the left side of the field. Madrigal produces like we expected and Vaughn shoots up ala Robert and Madrigal pushing to be the 1b/DH combo next year. Abreu is obviously around. So.... what exactly do we need? Right field. And the way I see it, that's the deepest position. Betts, Springer, Brantley, Pederson all could fit. And truly, if you were going to spend, Betts wouldn't be a bad spot. Then in terms of pitching - let's see what we get out of Cease and Lopez and Kopech and Rodon and Dunning this year. The options above arent fantastic but if even ONE of those guys listed take a step like Giolito last year then you have yourself a 1-2 punch at the top of rotation. Let's say another 2 take a step to be considered a solution for the back end of the rotation ... for arguments sake I'll say Rodon and Cease as your 4/5 and Kopech/Giolito as your 1/2. So then you need to sign ONE pitcher (also knowing you have Lopez and Dunning to fill out depth). Grab me Quintana on a 2-3 year deal at $13-14mm a year. He's your #3. Right there you have a playoff team with the best outfield in baseball and an all around solid infield. The rotation could use help, but its enough to win us the Central and you can assess halfway through the season if you want to add a Verlander/Cole type through a trade to make a push

  34. If he gets anymore under the radar we will be looking at the 2020 offseason to get someone.

  35. I would guess seeing who they get first, Price or Keuchel. From there, maybe a swingman like McHugh

  36. what The fuck are the Sox doing

  37. We don't have 5 pitchers, they need to sign pitchers. Allocating money for 3-4 years on a FA shouldn't impact extending any of these guys right now.

  38. Wow - $90M. That would represent a 23% increase over the largest contract ever signed into effect by the White Sox, that mammoth (snicker) $73M contract handed over to Grandal. Yet even if Washington signed Donaldson at this amount, it wouldn’t come close to being their largest contract awarded. No, both the Strasburg contract recently renewed AND the Scherzer contract still in place both dwarf this potential Donaldson deal. Which begs two questions: is Washington a major market team that can magically afford all of these massive contracts? And when we hear the familiar phrase “The money will be spent”, does our fan base need to respond with “Yes...but by whom?”.

  39. I'm not either however out of all the guys that people are mentioning like Wood, McHugh etc. he was easily the best. Pitched in the AL so he faced the DH and at the end of August had a great 3.06 ERA through a little more than 150 IP. Yes he had a meltdown in Sept and finished with a 3.98 ERA but thats understandable considering in 2018 he had only pitched close to 81 innings. I think it's a great deal for Cincy. Out of all the Free agent pitchers left i had them rated 1.Ryu 2. Keuchel 3 Miley and I think he was better than Keuchel last year.

  40. Do we really think the Yankees are going to let Paxton go that easily if he has a really good year? Maybe, but Tanaka would also be off the books, along with Sabathia from this past season. If they can clear Happ for salary relief, they can carve out a hole in the budget for Paxton, theoretically. At least we do know Stroman and Paxton can pitch in the AL, so there's that.

  41. Nova was a much, much better pitcher than Covey or Fulmer last year, but you’d rather have watched some of the worst pitchers in baseball make up Novas 190 IP last year because you get that much satisfaction out of the white Sox having another 8 million in their pockets?
    1 point
  42. oh no! this is certainly worth getting pissed about.

  43. Fine with me. He completely collapsed towards the end of last year. I do look forward to the meltdown on here now.

  44. Dallas Keuchel is now too old for the White Sox to sign. He was drafted 8 months after the team’s last playoff appearance. The team still has the same 3 dopes making the decisions.

  45. It has everything to do with your post. You made a comment that 25% of posters wanted Avi back, insinuating that it would have been a bad move. Instead, the Sox acquired an extremely similar hitter to Avi for the exact same number of years. It’s quite ironic.
