Counter point: he's a top 10 player in baseball and is 26 years old and the White Sox could completely redefine their franchise by giving him an amazing extension and revitalize a saddened fanbase and go on to win 3 of the next 7 World Series. But fuck it. Money.7 points

Francisco Lindor's worst season is a 4.0 WAR. To put Tim Anderson anywhere close to him is hilarious. If you are going to base TA's surplus value vs. his best season, shouldn't you do the same with Lindor, and his 7.6? What is the surplus value then? That said, the tweet was BS and it makes no sense to trade for him unless you can lock him up for a long time. Come in second when he becomes a free agent.6 points

"He believes this work will help give him the stamina late in the year to boost his stolen base totals, but admits that when he said improving that was his big goal for 2020, it was really just the most specific thing he could think of. “Overall I think I can do better in every aspect of the game, even much better than I did last year,” Moncada said. And the biggest piece and line in this entire article: Moncada, when speaking of the loyalty and appreciation the Sox showed to Abreu said: “I would like to stay here,” Moncada said through Russo. “I think this is a very good organization with a lot of good people. Definitely I would like to stay here and be a White Sox forever too.” Actions speak louder than words, and players have said this before only to leave but citing how they took care of Abreu as a reason for why he wants to stay for life too is certainly exciting. And one quote from Timmy just for more love: (Timmy lives in Chicago in the off-season despite the winters) “I play here so I think it’s only right,” said Anderson, who lives in Flossmoor with his wife Bria and their two daughters. “To be able to play here and go home to my kids every night. But for the most part, man, it kind of feels like home. I came here and felt connected instantly.”5 points

I am totally against trading Tim Anderson. I know Lindor is a fantastic talent but I want to win with my guys. Tim Anderson - Signed a Long Term Extension With the Club - Leader During A Tough Rebuild - Exciting Player - Fairly Good Shortstop Can we just sign good players instead of trade our team leader for upgrades.3 points

Steve Stone can really fuck off. He has been a real prick lately to the fans. This entitlement that runs throughout this organization certainly isn't warranted.2 points

Anderson’s expected BABIP last year was above .350. There’s no reason to think that last season was completely luck. He made real changes and improvements and simply writing them off as an outlier is lazy2 points
-
I can't believe how many people think TA's 2019 (.399 babip) won't wind up being an outlier. He's got a career 98 OPS+ (vs Lindor's 118) and will come back down to Earth.2 points

Well, that's not at all what I did but sure. Last year, Tim Anderson had a better WAR/600 than Lindor. Lindor is absolutely a better player - there is no denying that - but when taking into account their contracts and control I certainly don't think it's absurd to say 5 years of Anderson at his price is more valuable than 2 years of Lindor at his price.2 points

Considering how the offseason was going for the sox I would think most people should be pleased. Should give the sox a chance to compete on the central for the playoffs.2 points
-
If they want to trade him, they'd be smart to trade him to the White Sox. They get the prospects they want, plus damage a divisional rival long term. If they trade Lindor, they don't care what happens next year anyway.2 points

I peeped his account before he deleted it. He tweeted at Heyman that Kuechel has signed with the Sox but is out of the country and will take his physical when he gets back. This was a week old1 point

I think part of it is also that it’s 9:30 PM on a Friday...and also, it hasn’t been that long since the tweet was posted.1 point

Could be, but the fact he deleted the tweet is at least interesting. Anyways, my point is this has gotten almost no attention here while we speculate much more questionable tweets like the one about Lindor. Not suggesting this is legit, just a little surprised is all.1 point

Welcome to the forum. I've seen the Sox play in Pittsburgh, Anaheim, Cincinnati, and KC. I've also seen games in San Diego, Minnesota & St Louis (old parks for all 3), LA, Oakland, Milwaukee, both Chicago's, Seattle, Tampa, Boston, Toronto, Baltimore, Washington, and Detroit. Fenway, PNC and whatever the M's call their park now were my 3 favorites. I'd really like to get to the Bronx, Denver and San Francisco next.1 point

https://theathletic.com/1476009/2019/12/20/yoan-moncadas-2020-goal-is-clear-play-every-single-game/?source=shared-article This is pretty exciting, and of course wonderful work by Fegan again. Here's to hoping Yoan gets out there for all 162 and starts a streak of longevity. In summary: After spending last year tirelessly working on his approach in the off-season - trying to get the most out of his elite tools - Moncada has shifted his focus on his legs and staying healthy for next year this off-season. Maybe this will mean Yoan is on the move more this next season as well.1 point

I love how people think Kopech has this earned right to just be anointed a rotation spot. Make the dude earn it. He just had a serious arm operation and isn’t a veteran. Also if Kopech just was thrown into the fire without lower pitch counts counts right out of ST, that be idiotic of the organization from a health and development standpoint. Let the guy get into game shape in the minors. Get the year back. We’re talking about like 25 innings people.1 point

Wait there’s nice guys who are easy to root for on this team? According to Sox twitter I’m supposed to hate them.1 point

Good. The hamstring stuff is probably from over training quads relative to hamstrings. Hopefully he can put it all together next year if he plays 162 games he will be worth about 6-7 WAR. @EloyJenkins ha just saw your post yes indeed, great minds!1 point

These are from my data; take it for whatever it is worth to you. Maybe nothing. I combined 4 projection tools, and I weight league wide changes more quickly - which does not mean it's more efficient, but it means someone like Anderson might not be dinged as much for an escalated BABIP if league wide BABIPs were high, while Lindor was docked slightly for an iso decline despite a league wide iso escalation. I don't think what I do is perfect, and weighting league wide changes into the following year can lead to issues (such as baseball changing the baseballs back and those past changes being artificial) but I do trust my projections on players with Anderson's profile/pedigree and while I am certainly more optimistic than other services, I also tend to factor/believe in changes much more quickly as I prefer a 2 year and 18 month past look to the standard 3 year. Time will tell, but I don't think 15ish WAR over the next 5 years is crazy for Anderson.1 point

I like Arenado, but if we did something like this I'd be upset, because then why dont you just sign a Rendon? Giving up prospects would make no sense1 point

Agreed. If Cease figures out his control, he’s worth Cole money with his stuff. I wouldn’t trade him for an expensive 3B with weak road numbers.1 point

Another pitcher off the market. What the hell is Hahn waiting for? Why aren’t we signing any of these guys? Oh wait, he signed with the Sox? Then what are we doing signing this washed up piece of garbage? Sorry, sometimes I get confused on how to fit in around here. (In all seriousness, I love the move. Now go sign Ryu or Keuchel.)1 point

Reinsdorf is a joke. Catching lightening in a bottle is the way he's run this organization since he bought it for peanuts then realized he couldn't compete with these far more affluent ownerships. The White Sox are cursed by historically bad ownerships. I hold out hope I'll live long enough to see this paradigm finally change.1 point
