  1. As I see it, the need is for a)2B and b)someone who can hit lefties to play RF who is an upgrade from L Garcia. Holt and Brad Miller can play IF and OF, but can't hit lefties so they are out. Flores, Gennett and Dozier don't play OF, so they are out. Flores would be interesting if he played OF. Kipnis hasn't hit in years, and Zobrist looks like he's done. You're left with L Garcia in RF against lefties, who is better against lefties than Holt or Miller. And then Mendick. Yea, they could sign someone to play 2B, but they all need to be platooned. They can live with Mendick for a few months.

  2. It’s funny how people suddenly care about batting average and RBIs.

  3. And like my earlier arguments or questions all those stats you sited place extreme importance on walks. Where is the importance placed on driving in runs or batting average with runners in scoring position ? Still have to score more runs than the opponent. I know sabermetric stats are like Gods to some of you but use common sense too. RBI's mean more than they are given credit for and walks are given too much credit because they are used over and over again in every major offensive statistical category, propping up weaker hitters while a lack of walks hurt a good hitter thus punishing him with lower numbers across some of the categories who mentioned. 2nd and 3rd 2 outs , whats better a walk or a single ? Do they count equally in fWAR and OPS ? Which would you rather have in that situation ? Also without a list I have no idea who you are saying was ahead of Abreu. Encarnacion made the list of 1st basemen but he played less than 50 games at the position. At least play the majority of your games at 1st in order to beat out guys who play the position more frequently. Just throwing those stats at me without context means nothing. YOU DON'T EVEN TELL ME IF THOSE ARE OTHER 1ST BASEMAN YOU ARE COMPARING HIM TO AND WHO IS AHEAD OF HIM ON THE LIST, SO HOW CAN I ARGUE AGAINST ANYONE ELSE YOU SAY IS AHEAD OF HIM ? (I am not yelling at you .I just have never been able to get the BOLD to work.) Common sense .

  5. So Mahomes gets his SB ring this year. Trubisky next year?

  6. This. Robbie Gould being on the team (who I've personally met before, great guy) doesn't hurt either.

  8. It is hard to predict the needs of fringe teams in a year since GMs can be pressured into appeasing fans and owners. I can see the Giants making a splash just to make one, and the Braves going for him if they fall flat on their faces in the postseason again. Not sure why the Dbacks are a no, Calhoun can move to DH when the NL brings that on board in 2021 (likely happening from what ive read). We will likely lose out to the Padres again in some shape or form. We should be fighting till the end though, he would look so good in this lineup right now!

  10. That's because I've never seen a bad hitter lead the league in either category.

  11. This is how I see it breaking down next year. My guess is Mookie gets 10 years at $350-370MM. Takes him through his age 39 season Padres maybe (probably not) Angels out Cubs maybeeeee (probably out) Red Sox, Yankees out Dodgers in (Friedman has done a masterful job managing their payroll) Rangers out Phillies out Astros out Braves maybe? Nats out Twins out Mets (should be, but out) Giants maybe? A's, Rays no Dbacks no Those are all of the 1.) big market teams and 2.) competitive teams seemingly in a spot to make a push for major signing in 2020-21 offseason. There are only a handful of teams that make sense in terms of window and money who will be all over Betts IMO. So... ... The White Sox *should* be ALL OVER him. He's a perfect fit for their roster in every single way. We've all seen that movie before though, so I'm not gonna hold my breath. I think they prioritize extending Moncada before signing Betts as well.

  12. I’ve never stopped ? I absolutely love batting average.

  13. Holt plays 7 positions and is coming off back to back years with an OBP over .362. Yolmer is nowhere near as good. Their similar WAR totals are a function of playing time, not performance

  14. Trade for him now... Immediately sign him to the 12 year 420 million dollar extension he requested from Boston. haha

  16. Jason, they are not playing decent. They still have one win vs teams with a better than .500 record, and this is their January numbers. None of this says decent. Your insistence that this is all somehow better than what the record is, is really confusing to me.

  17. Trout to backup Robert would also be cool

  18. It really depends on how Moncada Eloy and Robert do this year or even Mazara . There's alot of slightly proven but mostly unproven power but such high ceilings that Betts may not be needed but an upgrade like Springer might be great. If Mazara shocks the world and hits 35 bombs they might try trading him or try extending him. I'll wait til the end of the season to make up my mind.

  19. You turned an innocuous light spirited comment about a player's hair dye into a vengeful; personal attack against a poster. Instead of responding in kind I will simply ignore any future comments by you. Fine by me if you do the same.
