Do what? Trade for Arenado? Dude is awesome and would definitely be something to pursue at the right price. The challenge is he’s paid handsomely and has an opt-out in two years, so you can’t overpay. I would definitely trade say Madrigal + Stiever for him (doubt the Rockies do that) and not have second thoughts. Think about this lineup for a second: Robert, CF Moncada, 2B# Arenado, 3B Jimenez, LF Grandal, C# Abreu, 1B Encarnacion, DH Anderson, SS Mazara, RF* ?5 points

Actually, it is good that the White Sox acquired a worse player in Nomar Mazara. Someone will be by shortly to explain why.4 points

let me be the first to explain it. 5 years of Aaron Bummer and 2 years of Nomar Mazara > 1 year of Joc Pederson and his 233 career Batting average. Also a bird in the hand meaning if the Betts trade doesn't happen( and its not finalized yet) Pederson probably wouldn't be available and we would be stuck with Adam Engle- Luery Garcia RF.3 points

1. There's nothing weird about them shutting down a fake rumor by comparing it to Tacos. 2. Why do people continue to talk about this trade as if it's actually real and possible? Make it stop, SOXTALK. Make it stop!3 points

Then they can use Madrigal as the headliner to get a guy like Blake Snell.2 points

How is that true? Injury issue: Burger never had injury issues in college, you can't blame the sox at all for not knowing Offensive performance: Burger hit 325+ every year of his college career. His final year he hit 328 with 22 homers and more walks than Ks, bottom line was a 1100 ops. He clearly was considered one of the best and most advanced college hitters. Evan white and pavin smith were highly drafted 1b men that year and burger hit better than them in college. Position and defense: This one is a legit concern. However his bat would have projected to play at first too, maybe not at a star level but at an average regular level. You can blame the sox for drafting so many defensively limited guys (basically 3 1b/DH guys in a row with burger, collins and Vaughn) but you absolutely can't blame the sox for not predicting his injuries and there was nothing wrong with his projection as a hitter either.1 point

I assumed this was going to be pictures of Joc Pederson captioned by things he is imagining. "If I push enough air into my cheeks I can inflate them to scare away predators".1 point

I hope so. I hope Madrigal wears something insane, like #0. Vaughn already said he wants to wear #99 when he's called up.1 point

"Sources: The meeting (yes, they met in person) between Nolan Arenado and #WhiteSox owner Jerry Reinsdorf, went very well tonight. A decision expected tomorrow morning." Assuming arguendo that Arenado and his agent met with Jerry, so what? I would expect Arenado's agent to shop his client around with every Owner/GM he could get a meeting with given Arenado's public statements about the Rockies. He is looking to spark interest by some team so that they can explore a trade. The Sox don't need Arenado. We have our man at third base and a great prospect at second. No need to add 35 Million a year for ANod.1 point

Starts at about 59 minutes. I'm about 1/2 of the way through the part on the Sox. Can't see I really agree with much of anything they'd said so far. As usual I think us fans know more than most national guys. Some pretty lazy takes imo. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/effectively-wild-episode-1497-season-preview-series-padres-and-white-sox/1 point

Thats pretty crazy that one fake random tweet gained traction like this. Usually it may get some talk on a message board but to have so much of twitter talking about it with no others jumping in as well, I just don't get it. Is it all because he guessed the Mookie info before others reported it as official?1 point

Lol. The dude can opt out next year and Moncada sucked at second.1 point

It's fake but I'm enjoying that I have something to follow on SoxTalk this morning.1 point

Is it kinda weird the official Sox account was replying to this rumor?1 point

Was about to say "man that would be some infield" forgetting that ... it already is with Story/Arenado and also...their 1b is like ian desmond or some old mannequin they found in the attic.1 point

It's a tricky one. It's great to see the Sox trolling this dork...but now somehow...this dork will feel that he achieved his goal of getting noticed and make 20 more ridiculous trade claims. I am so glad to WFH today, as I can just laugh at this sillyness.1 point

There is only one reason why I see the Sox doing this is if they think they can’t extend Moncada long term so they would basically move Moncada to 2nd base and in the meantime they are evaluating trade deadline options for Moncada. Possibly for more pitching. Than they would bring up Madrigal after they trade Moncada. However, I think this is totally bogus and this guy needs to stop now!1 point

so ... a recruiter? also, this is my opinion, it's up to the human to show self growth. Take a personality test, get a life coach, find what makes you happy, understand what makes yourself tick. Cant rely on others to do things for you & if so, you'll never be truly satisfied.1 point

This would be a real easy way to make every team in baseball reluctant to deal with you. I imagine that Graterols shoulder has not shown up very rosey in his physical after issues with it last year.1 point

So clearly the answer is hang onto every single prospect until they show their ass and are useless to everyone.1 point

Anybody who is saying it was a terrible pick is a clown. The kid never even had a shot to prove one way or another that he could play - injuries have derailed his shot so far. He might have crushed the ball and been our DH this year - we really dont know. So to say the pick was terrible is really a sad keyboard stance. On a side note, i hope he mentally gets right if that's truly the case here. He's still young and talented. Hopefully he can string together a few healthy seasons to realize if this dream really does have legs or to move on comfortably knowing he gave it his all. Would suck to go through life not knowing because your body kept giving up on you.1 point

Dude, Kenny and Hahn won a championship. This is not "negligible". That is 100 percent tangible and completely separates them from GarPax1 point

Obesity is a relative term. Nearly every athlete is obese as defined in the by BMI. It takes into account only the ratio of height and weight. It doesnt take into account body fat or muscle density. If your 6 foot tall you can only weight about 210 pound otherwise your obese. So in this scenario most athletes are susceptible to it. If you look at your list of risk factors one higher on the list than obesity is age between 30-50. He doesnt fall 8nto that category. This is more what you see in the clinic as opposed to an internet search. Edit: here is the article I was thinking of and I was wrong about the age. The overall age was 30-50 but for males it was 20-30. So he does fall in that range. However, obesity is not found to be a factor. 2325967118808238.pdf1 point
