  1. You guys are nuts. All I want is to win but you want a circus freak show too. I'm all for fun but understand this. If the Sox get Puig it's because everyone else decided to look the other way while he was drowning . If he does one little thing to rock the boat he will be thrown back into icy cold water filled with sharks without hesitation. You'll be singing a different song when someone break Moncada's arm in a bench clearing brawl started by our swaggy team. This isn't the NFL quite yet. The 49ers ended up looking like morons dancing and posing in the end zone after the interception. I told my friend watching the game with me WTF are they doing this game isn't over yet. 21 straight points by KC later they were losers. Winning is still the most fun you can have.

  2. I would like him on the team because he can play multiple OF positions and has some pop to replace whoever he is filling in for. I think signing him would be a huge get this late in the offseason. The positives outweigh the negatives in my opinion

  3. I would have preferred Joc to Mazara, but at this point we got to see what we have in Nomar. It’s very clear the Sox are very high on him and we might as well see what he’s capable of now that he’s healthy and not forced to bat in the middle of their lineup.

  4. I don't get this board's obsession with veteran players that aren't good.

  5. Seriously, I’d love to see the fans shove it in his face on Twitter like he does so often to fans. Honestly, Puig will be so cheap now I don’t see the problem. I think Abreu, Grandal, etc. could keep his ass in line and he would be great insurance for Eloy and Mazara. If he starts acting like a douche, cut his ass quickly.

  7. omg yes please this is my dream, give us some flexibility if Mazara is useless or Roberts hits a road bump. I just want Puig + Tim Anderson on the same team. Will make my enjoyment level maximized.

  8. Their defensemen are fine. It's their forwards that are the problem in their own zone. It is my belief that the problem with the Hawks defense is that their forwards arent good enough in their own end. I have very few complaints about their defensemen. Contrary to popular belief, playing defense in hockey is a team effort. The defensemen aren't the only players that defend. The Hawks don't need bottom 4 defensemen. They have plenty of those already. They need a bonafide #1. You don't get those unless you draft them.

  9. For all the posters getting the vapors over "Puig is a dick," "Puig is a cancer," etc... How about a link proving your point? (And something from the past ~6-12 months, not from 6 years ago.) Not saying that he hasn't had his issues, but in a league and a game that has allowed racists, wife beaters, steroid cheats, alleged child abusers, and video sign stealers, exactly how is Puig anywhere near as bad as they are or were? This whole thing is overblown, in all honesty. He's not a great player, but he's more likely to produce 2 or more fWAR than Mazara or Encarnacion in 2020.

  10. I’d rather watch Mazara struggle for 500+ ABs then accept whatever minimal value we’ll get from Puig. Why not let Mazara succeed or fail on his own, without distractions and the inconsistent ABs that would come with signing Puig? Does anyone really believe he will accept being a backup OF for an entire season? Once Mazara struggles for a prolonged period, Ricky will eventually side with the seasoned veteran. Just like Ozzie, you don’t give your manager tools that will be misused.

  11. Wasn't NOT St*ve just tweeting about the White Sox getting involved in the now complete Betts deal?? I have no doubt that the Sox are in on Colas, but do not believe fake St*ve has any real info.

  15. I’m feeling very positive toward a lot of our operations in this last month. Between the coaching assignments, hearing Shirley talk, the @Y2Jimmy0 article with the new biometrics guy, and now staring at a possibly very productive J2, all of the things that worried me most at least seem different and maybe proof that last years class just got away from them.

  16. They can extend him down the line like they did with Sale and Quintana. I’m not sure he is the type of player that will break the bank in arbitration so there is less risk then a Robert or Jimenez and even if he gets to FA he won’t command top dollar

  18. I think you're right. I think KenHahn got all hot and bothered watching Mazara get 3 of his 19 HR against AAAA white sox pitching in 2019. Problem is that Mazara wont get the chance to face the shitty 2019 White Sox pitching staff, and collect ~16% of his HR in doing so.

  19. I'd only sign him if Abreu signs off on it and only after Abreu has an in-person one-on-one with Puig. May sound ridiculous but I think Jose knows the personalities and clubhouse hierarchy better than even Renteria and would be able to properly evaluate the risk/reward of signing him. No offense to Grandal but dude should probably spend at least a week in the clubhouse before his endorsement counts for shit.

  20. Just because he hasn’t cheated or done something criminal does not prevent him from being a selfish prick who created drama within the clubhouse.

  21. Puig also hasn't been good in 6 years. If his name weren't Puig no one here would be clamouring for him.

  22. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Especially for a 37 year old DH. Also, prorate Puig's injury shortened seasons, and he's well above 2fWAR in those seasons.

  24. I assume Dodgers would rather trade Pollock and move some of that salary (and probably have tried) but he just wouldn't have much interest.

  25. What happens when Puig takes Viagra? He stands up straighter and gets taller. The guy is total dick. We do not want this cancer in our clubhouse. Have you read the stuff his Dodger teammates say about him? The guy is not swag, he's a cancer. And let's say we sign him for just one year? What then becomes his agenda? Is it winning? No, that become secondary, at best, to his getting himself on Sports Center, building his value, and signing a big multi-year contract after next year. And for a guy with a well-documented history of selfishness, we do not want this in our clubhouse.

  27. Not sure why you keep saying this. We are the CHICAGO White Sox. Not the Indianapolis White Sox, not the Des Moines White Sox. CHICAGO. Just because the collective record of the team over several decades (read: very little winning) has led to the under-development of a fan base, doesn’t negate the team’s large market existence. Sustainable winning such as this franchise has never experienced fixes that problem. The base will grow just like it did for the Bulls and Blackhawks after their respective successful runs. Unless you are claiming the Sox can never maximize a large market revenue stream either in ticket sales, merchandise sales, TV/radio fees, or corporate sponsor fees - no matter how successful the team becomes - then this “mid market” BS is just that - BS.

  39. Reported by who ? James Fox already mentioned he heard it was Bummer. He's the most reliable ear to the Sox FO here and you weren't buying it. So I assume you have a list of guys you would believe who will tell you details of a deal that didn't happen ? That's not asking for much.

  42. Joc was available because they upgraded. His price was obviously higher earlier, as they had no MVP level replacement and weren’t looking to move money. But yeah, b**** the Sox didn’t bring Joc in for a year.

  43. Was it actually reported that the Dodgers asked for Bummer for Joc from the Sox?
    1 point
  44. let me be the first to explain it. 5 years of Aaron Bummer and 2 years of Nomar Mazara > 1 year of Joc Pederson and his 233 career Batting average. Also a bird in the hand meaning if the Betts trade doesn't happen( and its not finalized yet) Pederson probably wouldn't be available and we would be stuck with Adam Engle- Luery Garcia RF.

Collins: Avg exit velo velo: 92mph 95+ mph: 50% 105+ mph: 7% Sheets: Avg exit velo: 88 mph 95+ mph: 40% 105+ mph: 5% Collins launch angles are also avg to above avg where Sheets is avg to below avg. 46. Yeah the poster who normally does the White Sox has the same username here as he does on the Operation Sports forum for the show. CWSPALEHOSE I believe. The full rosters normally get uploaded within the first month of the release of the game. I haven't owned it since 2017 and now that you can rollover your franchise from one year to the next, I think it helps get the rosters out sooner.
