  2. Are we using Madrigals ~10 abs in Spring to define him as a player? In that case can we release Moncada?

  3. Maybe you shouldn’t follow the dude on social media since you know, you’re making gross assumptions about the man’s commitment to his job based on a January pic from a football game. Fuck your internet sleuthing.

  4. WHAT IF... and hear me out...... Not Steve Ciscek is acutally a Y2Jimmy burner account that he will use to praise himself so that Y2Jimmy will then become a larger writer/reporter. IT'S THE INCEPTION OF MLB RUMORS!

  5. Why would Moncada & Robert need buckets of money after their initial signing bonuses? They don’t and still signed extensions anyways. That is all the proof one should need to understand Jose’s impact here.

  6. In the distant future from the broadcast of the 30th annual Field of Dreams game..."pinch hitting for the White Sox....Mike Trout."

  7. Ding ding ding. Renteria takes a ton of flack, but as I've said a managers job is 99.9% relationship management/player management/emotional management and .1% strategic. These players seem to love Ricky, so I will give Ricky a pass and the benefit of the doubt. Years and years of losing and never a negative word out of the clubhouse. That's really difficult to do.

  9. I'm still of the opinion that it is a mistake to trade him...unless someone overpays which is highly doubtful imho. A quality backup catcher is very valuable in a long season for a team pushing to make the playoffs so he is most likely more valuable to the Sox than what they will get in return.

  12. There is a lot of complete bullshit in this thread. He's in minor league camp with the other minor leaguers. Matt Spiegel was just talking about how he saw him doing some hitting drills near the backfields. I have no idea what the ETA is to arrive at an affiliate but saying he's not with the team is nonsense. He is in Arizona rehabbing. Whatever that entails.

  15. I really do appreciate your play by play Wallace. Can't get anything out here at the steel mill. And good to see Burdi throw out of the pen like that! Geez, we get him back - can you imagine the options we will have for the bullpen?

  16. Yes, I can already see/sense something special about this team's personality. They have incredible young talent complimented by a confident streetwise grittiness binding them together and already giving the team its own unique identity. There is no other team I can compare them too. If their talent pans out this team is going to be an absolute dream for fans and marketers.

  17. I'd make a poor GM because I would've paid him about 30,000,000 more. Lol

  18. His knee is more of the issue. If the patella isn't stable it could really rob him of power. It looks like he is doing well though.

  20. This is why I'm confused when people want Renteria gone. It seems like his players will run through a brick wall for him. Firing him and bringing in someone like Girardi wouldn't work IMO.

  22. So the argument is that Moncada will be underpaid if he wins MVP this year...

  23. I wouldn't be mad, but only if it's in the 40-50 range. Pitching is just so risky that you are usually better off just holding them through control and using them and then signing the ones you think are best as FA's when the time comes.

  24. Moncada's statcast profile from last year. Well above average with everything, and great with everything other than speed.

  25. The odds of the White Sox not being fully aware of this hypothetical Moncada "injury" before guaranteeing him $70 million are 0.

  26. Moncada just guaranteed himself another 70 million - if he's good, it's 90 million. Yes, I always want to hesitate before citing an un-quantifiable metric like "clubhouse culture" because it's really hard to actually know... but this off-season has made it incredibly clear that these guys like each other, and they really appreciated the Abreu extension. It's another thing that fans can get up in arms about because they felt he was "overpaid" but it's part of managements job to assess other impacts that we may not see... they appeared to gamble CORRECTLY on the Abreu narrative and impact. For that, I will forever appreciate Jose Abreu. It's really hard to be the alpha among athletic alpha's; where everyone respects you so much that they change how they approach their jobs and futures.

  32. The world isn't gonna end if we have a 2 war 2B batting ninth. That's perfectly fine. Not everyone is an all star. He's having a rough spring, I suspect he might be trying too hard to prove he should be up on opening day which wasn't gonna happen regardless. He will find himself and even if he's just an average regular that's OK.

  35. Another "fake" winner the media plays up with irresponsible stories. A couple points: 1. No one betting 3+ team parlays - in this case 10 team parlays - is a successful gambler. He may have gotten lucky and hit a couple big ones, but once you get past 3 team parlays the hold becomes so much that you can't overcome it. You are better off betting every game individually - that is a much more profitable endeavor in the long run, and is just one example that this kid is a loser. 2. No true winner in that world is public about their endeavors and successes; even the ones you hear about are after years and years of being originators and market setters; not after a couple years betting big and shitty parlays. Once you speak up, you are at risk of giving up the small edge you found. 3. The media constantly cites players "winnings" without accounting for any losses. This kid became famous because Darren Rovell wrote about him constantly. Rovell was basically a walking mouth piece/hype man for the guy without knowing it. All of these guys who look for public attention beating that market are full of shit. 4. If you are a legit originator/market setter, you have been booted/kicked out of 99% of sportsbooks and are forced to use beards to place wagers for you and etc. You do not go out in public talking about how great you are. 5. If you are very very good at this, you're looking at a 3-5% ROI over millions and millions wagered; you are not winning 30-40-50% like all these fake clowns claim. The sportsbetting market has a lower ROI than the stock market/investment world because of all the hoops above; the only people modeling and beating that market do it because they enjoy it, and they enjoy the challenge. If you can model to beat that market you can model to beat any market. This kid is a fake clown that Darren Rovell played up - likely the kid of some rich people - and got national attention and then harassed and threatened people giving gambling a bad name... Fuck him and Fuck Darren Rovell. Having been in that world for a few years out of college, there are a ton of scumbags and scammers everywhere; poker and sports betting wise. People who sell picks are criminals and should be treated as such as well.

  41. I'd argue that the last 4 years were much better than anything that took place from 2009-2015 though. They would constantly kick the can down the road. The organization was basically just treading water. Not losing enough to benefit, not building rosters good enough to win, not spending appropriately on amateur talent, no scouting or development changes geared toward sustain success. The success on the big league level over the past few years has been terrible but it was by design. They have more talent in the organization right now than they've had before and logical player development models in place that are sustainable into the future.
