China is overpopulated and their government doesn’t really give a crap about people or human rights in general. One-child policy? Most executions among any countries in the world? Muslim concentration camps? Human rights activists simply disappearing? Yes, totally absurd and almost incomprehensible... I’m not saying this was intentional but some people have far too much faith in reason when it comes to a twisted and corrupt Communist country. It’s no surprise China and Russia get along just swell.2 points

The idea that the Chinese intentionally created the virus, to kill a bunch of their people and then watch the world struggle with it after, is so preposterous on it's face that it's on par with believing the world is flat. That doesn't mean that anyone trusts the info from China, of course. There is plenty of reason to believe the number of cases and deaths in China is not accurate - some causes being intentional and some not.2 points

Yermin was in AA when Reed was in the bigs. He wasn't a realistic option. If he was blocking anyone, he was blocking Collins. Also, I figured something was up with Reed. He was still in the Sox org, but didn't appear in any ST games.2 points

Wait, let me try. I don't know if Trump supporters are racist, but a whole lot of racism originates from them.2 points

In order to buy the idiotic conspiracy theory that some are trying to sell, you would have to buy the idea that the United States would have botched the response and ended up as bad as it has. If you would have theorized that the US would respond perfectly and minimize both the impact and the spread of this, the theory doesn't work.2 points

Follow the science. Whether the Spanish Flu or MERS or Ebola/Marburg or Swine Flu, there’s a logical reason. The Chinese government tried to kill their own people to create plausible deniability, then successfully forecasted Trump would somehow botch it up? That’s quite the crystal ball. There was one Chinese woman on the island of Palau five years ago making a Youtube video about bat soup, and somehow 1.5 billion are now bat soup connoisseurs. I guess if it helps you to sleep at night, we can all believe whatever provides us comfort and reassurance.2 points

In what world can you thread a needle so perfectly as to avoid talking politics while talking about the epidemic? Lord.1 point

I see you proscribe to the throw so much shit against the wall maybe one piece will stick doctorate program. Im pretty sure you dont pass the boards if you miss every question and guess one right. Had he taken it serious right away, not been golfing, not holding pep rallies, maybe our world is different. But well never know because he cares more about his golf score than any of us.1 point

Huff Post today..."Having sold himself as a great business and military leader despite bankrupt casinos and bone spurs, President Donald Trump faces his greatest challenge yet: making Americans forget the two months he dismissed concerns about a deadly pandemic as a “hoax.”1 point

Relitigating Wounded Knee or Japanese displacement camps or drone strikes and endless wars across the Middle East doesn’t solve the problem TODAY. Nor does worrying about or blaming China, at the moment. Plenty of time for the entire world to assess this a year from now. Argue about it in September or October, before the election. Right now, saving the most lives, red and blue and purple...are all that matters.1 point

Its cute that you think these things only work one way. Especially when you watch our response to this when we had advance notice was quite literally to try to protect the economy instead of people.1 point

This is absolutely silly. I don't think China purposefully released this virus as an act of biological warfare. Regardless, comparing the US to China is an absolute joke. They literally have Uighur concentration camps where they harvest the organs of the prisoners. I get it, "America bad" is the cool mindset to have, but what a reach by you. Comparing China to the US from a humanitarian standpoint is laughable.1 point
-
By your logic, this is just as likely to have been planted by America in China, because this country never interfered in other countries affairs and definitely never used biowarefare or genocide against people before.1 point

Annnnnd none of those things are really comparable to any of the other things.1 point

Not really. It was never "very bad" here because we almost immediately shut down after the first case and death at the nursing home. Things are "fine" here for the most part. The hospitals are busy but not overwhelmed. People should be looking at Seattle and WA state as an example of how you can come out of this. We have probably 2 weeks left, maybe 3-4.1 point

Seeing as the length of the Wuhan lockdown is supposed to be 11 weeks, that seems to be a pretty good starting point, especially since our lockdown doesn't look nearly like China's.1 point

This is the death blow to the MLB season. I can't possibly see how they can have a season when the earliest they can start is July 1st. Guys, as much as I hate to say this, the best case scenario for sports is for there to be a 120 game MLB season starting in June 2021. I believe all sports will miss the 2020 or 2020-21 seasons.1 point

Dude they gotta pull the plug on this Biden thing. This is like Sharon Stone doing that other basic instinct when she was 50. At first you’re like: “No! That’s a terrible idea. They’ll never make that movie!” Then: ”Wait, they’re actually gonna do that? C’mon they can’t possibly think people are gonna go for that.” Followed by a brief moment of: ”Well...that first one was pretty cool. Maybe I’ll check it out...” And then: ”Nahh I’ll just Google the titty parts.” And finally: “Well let’s see what we got here. Let’s see what those titties look lik...oh God! They’re terrible. Those same fake orbs but old AF! WTF do they take me for?! They spent 50 million hoping to make 100 million on old Tits?”1 point

Would have prefered Collins got that shot. Assuming no major injuries, Collins isn't getting a long look here this year.1 point

Replaying the '05 season is fun and all but what I'm really jonesing for is some games from '08, peak Carlos Quentin when he was just wrecking the league. 5/25/08 would be a fun game to revisit.1 point

It is much worse, and this month is going to be horrible for so many. But in the beginning of March we were testing around 2-3k people per day. Now we are around 110k, and about to deploy at least 50k a day from abbot labs that are rapid tests and compatible at most hospitals on site. If by the end of april we are at 300k/day, and by end of may it may be at the production level where tests can be administered at a wide enough basis that things like sports could be conducted due to their ability to test asymptomatic people daily. We'll just have to wait tos ee how it plays out.1 point

I don't know what is more insane. 7-11 still selling Big Gulps, or people still buying them. I would think there's as good of a shot of Covid 19 being on that Coke button as there is anywhere else.1 point
