Same way I handled the last 3 years, try and do good, try and set a good example, do what I can to blunt the damage to society. I dont even think his greatest enemy could have predicted the damage he would do to our society.6 points

Funny, as a person pretty firmly in between the two parties, it is exactly this kind of stuff that drove me out of the GOP after decades. I can't support a party that is afraid to even sort of criticize their leader out of fear. Nope as soon as it starts, the denizens start in on Obama or Clinton. It is disgusting.4 points

I get a kick out of the need to deflect everything about the Dear Leader back to something bad about the black guy or woman.4 points

I am shocked by how many thinking, rational, intelligent, people I know that will continue to support him and blame everyone else but him.4 points

So where did all of the "let's work together" and "why tear him down?" people disappear to? Again, leadership starts at the top. maybe if the President focused on uniting us as a nation, the nation wouldn't be so divided?4 points

That's the irony here. The Trump family fortune is very much because of the government. Fred Trump made his money on section 8 housing. Donald enhanced his fortune with tax fraud to launder money from his father to the kids. He also took tons of government money in all of his building projects. Now he is office and pushing public and campaign funds through his businesses so that he can be the 1st President in his to profit off of the office WHILE STILL IN OFFICE. He quite literally is the second generation of welfare queen in his family. The difference is the Trump scope is in the billions instead of thousands like most of the people he looks down on. The best part is the cult army that makes excuses for him, while seeing their paychecks laundered to him.3 points

Really bad news for Wisconsin. Conservative courts are forcing people to choose between their health or their right to vote. Several Republican politicians including the president have been explicit that they reject mail voting purely on the grounds that it may help Democrats. Milwaukee already announced that they're going from their typical 190 or so polling places to.... five. How can anyone consider the results of tomorrow's election in Wisconsin legitimate?3 points

https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-hydroxychloroquine-white-house-01306286-0bbc-4042-9bfe-890413c6220d.html Fringe economist Peter Navarro is attempting to intervene with his gut health care advice that has literally zero grounding in sound scientific testing methods. God help us all. We get the government we deserve when people don’t pay enough attention to exactly what it is that they’re voting for, which is Jared Kushner masquerading as a logistics/procurement expert and Navarro rampaging like a bull through a China (figuratively) shop. https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/05/opinions/coronavirus-wealthy-false-security-vicky-ward-opinion/index.html For some of the rich I speak to, a more urgent headache than the symptom of the virus is the possible ramifications of the economic shutdown — but even that may be much less meaningful than you'd think given the tax break some are getting from the stimulus package. A clause in the bill allows commercial real estate developers to offset paper losses from the depreciation of their buildings against taxes on profits from other investments like the stock market. A New York Times report says the estimated cost of the change over 10 years is $170 billion. One real estate mogul told me that he cracked open the champagne beside the pool the day the CARES Act was passed by Congress. "Some people are going to get very rich out of this," says someone else I know in the health care supplies business. Harvard-trained epidemiologist Dr. Ashwin Vasan told me that he's heard disturbing stories of wealthy individuals procuring their own ventilators. This at a time governors of hard-hit states say they're about to run out of their own essential supplies.3 points

You’re an elected official now? Well, that would only make sense, since your dear elected leader spends more time following the way he’s bring covered and wasting everyones’ time holding briefings on national t.v. than he does solving the actual problems. Recently, he’s taken to not even letting the actual health experts talk. He has had some really great/amazing/beautiful/perfect phone calls, I guess. Lots of genuflecting and expressions of appreciation from the “good” governors... We’re in month five of this and there’s still no agreed-upon plan, just posturing to treat any death count under 240k as a victory, all the failures to be attributed to the mayors in urban areas/Dem governors/MSM/Federal Reserve/Biden corruption/deep state cabals, like the Inspector General of HHS who has been in government since 1999 and has served in a nonpartisan fashion over multiple presidencies of both parties.2 points

“Black guy or woman?” I will preemptively excuse you of your veiled accusation of racism. But the Obamas were most recently in the White House prior to Trump. I also mentioned the Clintons, just in case you missed it. Serious question though — how are some people going to handle the next four years of their lives once Trump is re-elected?2 points

Here is what is ticks me off. When the Flint situation happened, the Michigan governor should have moved heaven and earth to solve the problem. He didn't. When this crisis began, Trump should have moved heaven and earth to at least address the problem and he didn't. I don't have a whole lot of admiration for politicians, but for once I'd like to see them act like human beings. How about this for a change? Instead of a person with perceived charisma, why don't we elect someone who cares? At least a little bit.2 points

I’m not sure you could have deliberately picked someone with a more ill-suited temperament...and complete lack of empathy/compassion, to guide our country in these trying times. He just cannot handle challenging questions from ANY female reporters with calling the nasty or horrid. Makes me appreciate all the other presidents (even GW) going back to Nixon that much more. I mean...it’s not like we didn’t have the swine flu epidemic in 2009...and an obstructionist Congress. Not sure who exactly was for rebuilding our stockpiles of PPE and ventilators at that point. It’s not like we haven’t had a majority of governorships and state legislatures in control of the GOP from 2010 onwards...and a major shift didn’t begin to occur before January, 2019. https://www.scmp.com/news/china/article/3078669/one-virus-caused-covid-19-scientists-say-thousands-more-are-waiting Coronavirus: One virus caused Covid-19. Scientists say thousands more are in waiting Coronavirus has forced changes on all levels of society, and shown how being able to ship goods and people around the world in 24 hours helps viruses spread The second part of our series on lessons learned from the pandemic looks at the importance of identifying new viruses and the risks of them infecting humans2 points

I've seen players fired up from little league to independent ball with very few, if any, fans there. I'm certain they will do just fine. We've all heard stories of insane practice altercations. If players can get fired up practicing, they can get fired up with their careers on the line.2 points

I linked to the thousands of doctors discussing the attack on hemoglobin and it’s ability to transport oxygen to vital organs by Covid-19 as perhaps the primary assault on the body... and said “this is super interesting”. You need to apologize. It’s okay for us to link to doctors discussing the disease that is affecting us all. It’s also okay for us to say “hey this idea presented by doctors is interesting, what do you think about it.” It’s okay for us to discuss things. You need to apologize man. That was a weird flex and attack2 points

I am personally getting sick of this crap, especially now. This is not a time for settling scores. I would imagine many other media sources are seeing a decrease in advertising. Is he happy about that, too? How many people is this hurting? This man kicks people when they're down. He is totally unlikable. The only fake news comes from his press briefings, and his constant spreading of misinformation only makes things worse. Are all these deaths fake news, too?2 points

I passed by a church in Florida earlier today with a fuckton of cars in the parking lot and I couldn’t understand what was going on. I’m not religious but I respect people’s right to believe whatever the fuck they want as long as it’s not harmful to others. Refusing to practice their faith over the internet / safety of their own home is the opposite of loving thy neighbor. The amount of ignorant people and cowardly politicians in this country is truly outstanding.2 points

Why in the hell can’t Trump just answer reporter’s questions without being a complete toddler? Well researched questions are not fake news and reporters asking them are not bad reporters.1 point

To be fair most of the left is the same just in the opposite direction. I myself am independent as well because I don't identify with either party anymore. I would prefer government more in the middle. A president that could talk to both sides and come up with compromise that could help out both sides. I don't get why all of a sudden everyone needs to be correct and it is my way or the highway. Trump pretty much epitomizes what government has become...hence he gets elected pretty easily. I felt Klobuchar was the closest thing to someone I can align with politically.1 point

I really don’t get how Fox News somehow became president and how almost everyone on the right went so far right. And this is coming from a former righty who switched to independent.1 point

Clearly, the guy is just here to get people riled up with illogical whataboutisms, and he's not much better during baseball season. The sooner people realize this and stop quoting him, the less we who have him ignored have to read his nonsense1 point

Illinois went ahead with their primary, which was really dumb, but it wasn't the same as this. Because the Illinois primary occurred before things got bad enough for everyone to understand and before there was a shelter in place order, there wasn't a big surge in absentee requests that the state failed to fulfill on time. There wasn't an equivalent situation here with ballot access, and there weren't really important partisan elections like the WI SC seat. It was local referendums and intraparty primary choices. In parallel to this, Governor Evers arguably waited too long to try to postpone the election, but he did call a special session of the legislature over the weekend. This session was immediately ended by the GOP majority. Across the country right now, one party is trying to make mail in voting widespread ahead of the November election to address this issue while the other is blocking it. It's a public health issue, and not really a "both sides" thing here. A few politicians of one particular party have been very explicit as to why they oppose this: they believe it'll increase turnout which will be better for their political opponents. Recent election trends show that may not even be true, but that's their clearly stated reason.1 point

I used to think Haley would get the VP nod this time around, but Ingraham’s quickly picking up speed. Fortunately, Trump is so stubborn and insistent that he’s always right that it won’t allow him to countenance a change. That and the fact that he’s immediately threatened by those getting so much positive attention, like Dr. Fauci, like Governor Cuomo. It wouldn’t work because she was too independent at the UN, as she ramps up her shadow campaign for 2024.1 point

15 teams play their spring training games in Florida. Where will they play? At least a few teams (chw/lad) share facilities. Do all of these facilities have lighting appropriate for playing nighttime professional baseball games? I think we are a long way from publicly-attended games of any kind. People *may* start to return to work and stores later this summer, but I think having events with 20-50k people is much further away than most think.1 point

No idea how anyone would prefer no season when 1) our core will be accruing a year of service time either way and 2) we’ll all be going stir crazy from social distancing / quarantining. Three or four month of White Sox baseball on TV sounds like a gift from the gods right now.1 point

100% agree. I'd almost rather there not be a season.1 point
