Beat me to it. I feel like that is the part that most people that are protesting and refusing to wear a mask don't understand. It was never to protect you...it is to protect the people you interact with in case you are someone that is asymptomatic. All these Karen idiots refusing to wear masks at stores in public places just blow my mind. It is called PUBLIC health....meaning for the general PUBLIC. What you do in your own house is your own business but when you are in PUBLIC you should follow PUBLIC guidelines.3 points

LITERALLY NO ONE IS SAYING WEARING A MASK KEEPS YOU FROM CATCHING IT. EVERYONE IS SAYING WEARING A MASK CUTS DOWN ON THE AMOUNT OF IT YOU BREATHE OUT AFTER YOU'RE SICK. IT DOESN'T HELP YOU, IT HELPS EVERYONE ELSE.3 points

Longenhagen also put a 35 FV on Jimmy Lambert and rated Yermin as the #8 prospect in the system. I think it is a lot easier to teach body type and work ethic than it is to teach skill. Put Colas around guys like Robert and Moncada and see how he develops. Because Colas is a prospect with some ability, I hope we sign him. We always need more quality prospects. Also, we should feel pretty good about his chances to play at the AA level immediately, and maybe also play well enough at the AAA level in the same year as his debut. Most of the players who are going to get these high 6 and small 7 figure bonuses are never going to make it that far anyway. And think about it, it's about the same cost as dumping the buyouts on Wellington and Nate Jones.2 points

What a day! 29300 tests 2268 positive cases 7.7% positive rate, a new low. 100 fewer people on ventilators than last week, hospitalization declining.2 points

At first, I was almost like Greg with the lack of haircut. But the more I thought about it, I'm kind of digging it now. It reminds me of when I was in high school, and the only time I would get a haircut is when my dad couldn't take it anymore and forced me to go. It got pretty wild at times.2 points

The MJ story reminded me of a story a buddy told about Bobby Knight. My buddy was at a camp at Indiana and not being a blue chip college recruit only saw Knight for a brief moment each day. But on one of the days Knight came in and talked for about 15 minutes about basketball and life (which seemed to be synonymous). My buddy said later if any of the priests growing up had spoken about God like Knight spoke about basketball, he'd still be Catholic.2 points

At more than 5 million cases, the virus has infected more people in under six months than the annual total of severe flu cases, which the World Health Organization estimates is around 3 million to 5 million globally. The pandemic has claimed over 326,000 lives, though the true number is thought to be higher as testing is still limited and many countries do not include fatalities outside of hospitals. Over half of the total fatalities have been recorded in Europe. source: Reuters So we’re talking 456,400 - 521,600 on a global level, most realistically....and with Brazil copying the Trump Doctrine politically and temperamentally, it means South America will soon be overrun, then Central America, Mexico, and we can go back to June, 2015, and protecting from barbarian hordes invading from the south/border security as a campaign issue. Attacking the CDC, WHO, China, Obama, Joe Scarborough, Nancy Pelosi. Check. Spending $600 million on machines that were supposed to clean/disinfect masks 20 times for reuse when the actual number has turned out to be 3-4 times, making not simply procuring the masks in the first place...well, it is what it is. Check. Even at $1.50 instead of the pre-virus cost of 0.58, that would be 400,000,000 N95 masks, more than enough for every American, with 70,000,000 left over. Another $354 million contract to a Virginia company to create a national drug stockpile despite their having no experience doing so. Check. What’s a $100 billion anyway, it’s not even Bezos’ net worth, even after divorce. Navy Rear Adm. John Polowczyk is just going around telling everyone “he has a blank check from the Trump administration.” No oversight of Treasury/Mnuchin programs for medium and large companies. No oversight of Jared Kushner. No oversight with every IG who crosses Trump Saturday Night Specialed.2 points

The CDC is out to get revenge on Trump. Deep state! Fake news! Or the CDC has been sidelined for so long that nobody’s going to actually pay attention (Dr. Laura Mesonnier spooked the markets speaking out of turn and then the “everyone who wants a test can get one” fiasco in Atlanta) so Trump now won’t give then credit for anything, even if it leads to more confidence in reopening...because, politics. Yet he won’t fire Drs. Redfield and Azar because that would make him look even more incompetent.1 point

Wow go read Doc Graham's Instagram post ... can't copy it here, wouldn't let me copy, paste. ... So turns out masks are controversial. He calls them "absurd ... they encourage the fornite transmission ("infected articles") to hand to face transmission of the virus. So go ahead and allow idiots to delude and mislead you to the false sense of security - and danger - of masks." You can find Graham's full quote on Twitter if you don't want to Instagram. Personally I'm glad to see masks losing momentum. It's common sense that you are going to touch your face more with a damn mask on and the mask is going to be moist from your mouth and that is NOT GOOD!! It's very simplistic to say a shield, a mask will keep covid out. Doesn't appear to be that way. https://www.theblaze.com/news/former-neurosurgeon-masks-ineffective Also another thing I read: “It seems kind of intuitively obvious that if you put something—whether it’s a scarf or a mask—in front of your nose and mouth, that will filter out some of these viruses that are floating around out there,” says Dr. William Schaffner, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University. The only problem: that’s not likely to be effective against respiratory illnesses like the flu and COVID-19. If it were, “the CDC would have recommended it years ago,” he says. “It doesn’t, because it makes science-based recommendations.” The science, according to the CDC, says that surgical masks won’t stop the wearer from inhaling small airborne particles, which can cause infection. Nor do these masks form a snug seal around the face. The CDC recommends surgical masks only for people who already show symptoms of coronavirus and must go outside, since wearing a mask can help prevent spreading the virus by protecting others nearby when you cough or sneeze. The agency also recommends these masks for caregivers of people infected with the virus. Just trying to say there is controversy over masks and I do not like them. Common sense is my mask is full of moistness, wet crap from the mouth after even 15 minutes and I'm adjusting it and touching my face way more with a mask on than off. Before the mask mania hit, I NEVER touched my face once during Corona crisis, now I touch it all the time.1 point

Hmmm what do you think of this story. Corona is not being spread from being on surfaces https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/health/2020/05/21/coronavirus-news-what-cdc-saying-covid-19-surfaces/5235317002/1 point

Colas can hit 95 from the left side, AND is a pretty good offensive player putting up plus numbers in a good pro league in Japan at 21. I think he is in a similar ranking to Cespedes. Even knowing Cespedes was out there Passan called him one of the best players to emerge from Cuba IN YEARS. The big question isn't how good is he, it is if he will be able to sign anytime soon. https://tw itter.com/JeffPassan/status/1213158209126617093?s=201 point

Another encouraging note, just in my small sample size, I take a walk around the neighborhood for lunch, and the amount of mask wearers is growing substantially. Today, I only saw 1 person without a mask, and he was a guy that had to be at least 85, with a cane, walking a dog. Everyone else, covered. I was very happy.1 point

Doctors have never seen a test so negative. They kept asking him how he knew so much about negative tests. Scientists from all over the globe may study him to see how his result could be so negative.1 point

40 million people?? Just printing the checks and mailing them out to recipients of unemployment will cost millions of dollars. My gosh our economy is doomed. So pretty soon we'll be at 50 percent unemployment? Half of our great nation will be idled? God help us all.1 point

As much as I believe what they did was wrong, prison time seems too harsh. I'd rather see a couple million dollar scholarship fund set up than be paying for their room and board for a year or two.1 point

I am so glad Harper did not sign here. His fake personality is just so annoying. I can never forget the hair flip thing he did after homering against the Cubs in the payoffs. It was like 3-2 and the pitcher just set him up and he had to swing, and the pitcher lays a meatball right down the heart of the plate, and Harper hits a slam. Most veteran hitters in the league probably hit that pitch out, but when he does it, he has to make himself into an Herbal Essence commercial of fake-ass celebration like he's Fabio and he just switched somebody to margarine off butter or something. I hate that guy. If I was a pitcher I'd just throw at him because he sucks. Wasn't he also the pro-babies in the dugout guy who kissed LaRoche's ass for all that stuff? I'm glad he is no where near this team.1 point
