I will take a huge upside 2nd round pick over two or three average picks 100 percent of the time6 points

Ray speaking in absolutes again has me pretty confident that they'll get Crochet signed underslot now.6 points

If one of these 5 pans out, it’s a good draft. If 2 do, it’s tremendous. When is the last time the Sox had 2 guys that ultimately weren’t easily replaceable in the same draft? I get they kill their odds the last 3 rounds, but they picked their BPA in round 2, and seemingly had their plan in place to get their guys. You have to give them credit for that. If they work out, great. If they bust, that’s on them.5 points

Ray I like you man, but you do speak in absolutes a lot. It's not a big deal so I'd just let it go man.5 points

excited to see us draft @fathom, @SoxAce and @hi8is with our remaining three picks5 points

Yea, just watch this and tell me they all didn’t know what was going down. Even his, “I got a little worried yesterday” comment seems almost planted. Looks like he knew he was going to be selected by our team.4 points

If they took him at 11, they have an agreement already. I heard from multiple people yesterday afternoon that the deal was done. I didn't believe it because I had conflicting info about Abel and I thought the Sox planted it for whatever reason. That's not true. The scouting department really wanted Garrett Crochet. They think he's a stud.4 points

In a completely messed up year I think going top heavy makes the most sense.3 points

He didn't go in the first round because he had a deal with the White Sox yesterday morning. This was always happening. I don't know the number but its' at least $3 million. Any other team that had interest, needed to beat whatever number the White Sox guaranteed or he told teams he had a deal and wasn't signing. That's how this works. Nobody else would take him without a deal agreed upon.3 points

Guys...they know exactly how much Crochet and Kelley cost. They had a predraft deal with Kelley (somewhere in $3 million range) and they know exactly how much Crochet is getting. I thought it would be underslot but it's likely the full number after seeing rounds 3-4.3 points

how? I don't think there was any rumblings of him going much higher while there was legit rumblings of him falling.2 points

No chance imo. I'm guessing Sox have spent 7.5 million min of their 7.7. They have nothing left. This is a two man draft + seniors. 11th slot is 4.57; Sox could MAYBE push him back to 15-16 money at 3.7. Then their 2nd round pick wanted top tier money, and was as high as 10 on some boards. In the second, if you gave him top 15 money he'd probably forego school. Maybe top 20. That's another 3.25 min.2 points

I hope Kelley follows fellow Texan Kopech around and develops his work ethic. Second to none on the team.2 points

HS pitchers are a crapshoot, but the White Sox also have the fortune of not having his HS coach abuse him.2 points

the ONLY thing I find funny is how recently sox seem to have gone against logic of the draft in recent years. 2 years ago it was a class deep in HS pitching and light on college bats, they went all college bats Last year was light on high school pitching, they go after hs pitching for first time in years with 2 picks This is one of the deeper drafts in memory - they go for a 2 person draft.2 points

Embers, ashes. The Trump administration will stomp those out very quickly, very powerfully. Some say with more power than you have ever seen. But then again, it will be up to the governors. If they don't respond well, the federal government will step in. Believe me. Thanks to POTUS, the coronavirus has been reduced to ashes. You can thank him in November.2 points

Fans just don't understand how comps work. It's not a statistical comparison. They're not saying this guy is going to have the same exact career as this guy. It's a comparison of his tools and talent level. His body looks like him, he hits like him, he throws like him, etc. They're saying if everything comes together this is who he can be. Baseball people understand it's very rare for everything to come together because baseball is a really really hard game to play and a lot of shit happens along the way to making it to the big leagues and staying there.2 points
