No you definitely said he is mostly dead and not coming back for 16 months4 points

Jack - I’m honestly not trying to be a dick, but are you completely insane? Do you recall yourself panicking over a bunch of Moncada strikeouts to start spring training? If anyone is going to freak out over a slow start it’s going to be you.3 points

Greg, based on your posts on this subject over the past few months, you of all people should have come to the realization that people need rules, or they'll act like fvkcing savages. [See: sh!thole red states that had MONTHS to prepare, then those same fvkcing mooks still render mask-wearing as political. Like texasastan and flori-duh. Or even you, a few months ago.] What's more, your stupid supposition that Kansas' government deemed your barber "the enemy" is so stupid that it insults the stupid. Fvkcing think about it: The BARBER isn't the enemy. It's the ACTIVITY of being indoors, in close proximity, for anywhere from 5-15 minutes at a time, that could pose a threat to people. [IOW, by supplying the requisite viral load to pass on illnesses.] For fvkc's sake, turn off fvkcing fox "news," and pick up a book.3 points

Mostly dead is not not dead. There's a big difference between dead and mostly dead. Mostly dead means he's slightly alive.3 points

Is anyone beginning to think the entire reaction to the wuhan flu is a big hoax? I don't get out much, as I work from home, but it seems like a lot of the reaction is just a desperate attempt to get rid of Trump, and maybe the supporters of quarantining are just happy that something bad has happened during the best presidency in the history of country.3 points

Once a guy does anything out of the ordinary he is branded as a flake because he doesnt follow the wolfpack, It's the most idiotic group mentality bullshit ever. And the fact that its applied to Kopech during this pandemic is truly asinine.3 points

I love how his MLB ERA is always used as some knock against him as if he didn't have a 0.82 ERA before his final start where he was visibly injured (my overall point being that ERA, or any stat, over such a small sample is meaningless)3 points

First of all, it's not Wuhan Flu, it's COVID-19. Secondly, 130,000+ people did not die from a hoax. This virus is very real, and it can be very dangerous to some folks. The worst thing about the virus is that it is a novel coronavirus, which means we don't know much about it. We're learning every day about it, and the actual experts (CDC, Dr. Fauci, countless doctors and scientists) are doing their best to pass on their learnings to the public. It just sucks that we have people in charge who refuse to believe and will go so far as to muzzle the experts. I personally know several people who have had COVID, and most experienced mild symptoms (like a bad flu). One guy, though, was hospitalized and was out of work for a month. He was healthy and didn't have any underlying conditions. Not a hoax. It's real, and it's getting worse because people aren't taking it seriously.2 points

I'm impressed how polished his D already looks in CF in the limited time I've seen him. He's obviously got the tools, but it seems like he's been getting good breaks and taking good routes too. EDIT: Turns out Southsider2k5 already said the exact same thing, that's what I get for responding before catching up to the thread lol2 points

Bummer starting. ESPN had an interesting article about how Bummer could actually be a Cy Young candidate as in a 60 game schedule a top notch reliever actually could be in consideration. Love that idea.2 points

Yea man I was thrilled when my dads best friend died in April. Fist pumping as he drowned in his own excessive fluids filling his lungs. It was fucking awesome man, fuck trump this was a master move to die like that to own the GOP2 points

Florida Governor DeSantis got heckled at a Miami press conference. He stood there looking like the political hack that he is as the heckler told him he had no plan or idea of how to deal with this situation, and he had no answer. The denial goes on and on while the virus spreads out of control. The heckler was dragged out of the press conference when DeSantis should have been dragged out. Give the heckler the microphone; he might have come up with something. I think that is a given since DeSantis and the other GOP governors have shown they have no clue as they run and hide from Trump.2 points

Couldn't be further from the truth. The entire club is behind him. Everybody. The speculation on his professional and personal safety concerns in the midst of a pandemic has been beyond unfair by the media and a large portion of this fanbase. People need to get over it and let the guy live his life. Unreal.2 points
-
I don't disagree..I just don't expect a lot from him over the first 1-3 weeks of the season. He'll be fine by mid-August.1 point
-
Honestly, he is going to be the starting 3B if he only has 1 day of practice provided he’s healthy. This lineup can/will cover down for him if he struggles early getting into the swing of things and the upside that he brings far outweighs the idea of easing him into the lineup and playing a guy like Mendick or Cuthbert at 3rd base whose production would probably be about what Moncada gives you during a slow start anyways.1 point
-
No, I learned from that. I analyzed that situation and came to this conclusion.1 point
-
Can he be ready to go 10 days from now? That is the question. Moncada isn't even back yet so we have no way of knowing when he's going to be ready to play. If he does play OD, I hope that nobody jumps on his performance should he start slowly. He's a rep/feel based hitter so if he's not locked in to start don't be surprised. Should he start the season, I'm not expecting much from him for the first 2-3 weeks, and writing off it as covid ball if he has a subpar 60 games.1 point

I didn't like their refusal to consult business owners for calm discussion, didn't consult regular people, wouldn't answer my emails. You don't have to puff your chest out say JUST DO IT MY WAY to be an effective leader. Disgusting behavior of power hungriness. My barbershop is pristine. You should see how good the owner is. Different barbers work at different times. He doesn't want to get Covid, doesn't want to give it to anybody. But he was the enemy to our governor and local officials. I was and am disgusted at the leadership and will vote against all of them. I will add that despite my fury I've obeyed all rules and limited contact with people a LOT.1 point

Why shorten the day til 12:30? What do parents do if both people work? 12:30 is early to have the kids at home unsupervised. Maybe in this new normal we just pretend the kids will be OK without supervision and let them be home alone or go to a neighbors house in which one partner doesn't work cause of layoffs.1 point

The last 2 days were weekend numbers. There are always fewer tests done on Saturday and Sunday, so there's fewer to report on Sunday-Monday (and sometimes Tuesday). We're at about 100 per cases per day on average, and the last 3 days we reported 40, 50, and 60, and we'll probably be back over 100 tomorrow in this county - the question is whether it spikes to something like 150 any time soon.1 point

Jack don't respond to that honestly you should know I'm fucking with you1 point

Isn't the CDC part of the deep state? Isn't everything that isn't nice to the president part of a conspiracy? (Getting those questions in BEFORE Greg reports it from his hours of watching fox "news.")1 point

But jack said he is mostly dead and probably will not play for 16 months1 point

Seems likely that national data will be cooked, but we'll still get state level reports (which may also be cooked, e.g. Florida)1 point

I wonder how many of the same people who don't want to hear about wearing a mask are the same people willing to smash a car window to save a dog? When did we become so anti-human in this country?1 point

Do you scream at them because they make you wear a seat belt or else you will be ticketed? How about the fact that they make you wear a shirt and shoes into a store or else you can't shop there? Are they being bullies then? Are you upset that they bullied people that smoke to smoke outdoors only?1 point

Everyone on the "hoax" side of this claimed hundreds of thousands were dying all over the streets and hospital waiting rooms of China. How can it suddenly NOT be real? What changed? How many of those same people are going without masks or social distancing? Yet still asking their kids to work and/or go to school without any PPE in order to earn money for the family? How many of the conspiracy crew are turning down the extra $600/week and volunteering themselves to basically take pretty much any essential services job that likely pays less than it would be to sit on the couch through the end of July and collect unemployment payments? How many are rejecting subsidized health care coverage from the government? How many will not receive a vaccine but want to send their kids to public schools? Will they pay restitution to their classmates and classmates' families if they get them sick? Why don't they all home school them, then? How many believe in FOX News, Breitbart, Alex Jones and OAN over real journalism? How many of these same anti-maskers were fighting to defend President Obama from 2009-2013 when he made every possible effort to reach out to the other side....when the GOP philosophy of Mitch McConnell was OPENLY ADMITTED TO BE for the Congress to make him a one term president and obstruct every single thing he wanted to accomplish no matter how center right it was (ObamaCare was more to the right than Romney's own Massachusetts health care plan)? That cheered on the blocking of Merrick Garland and are still cheering on the filling of hundreds of lifetime judicial appointments in an "election year" when those appointments should have been suspended beginning in January... If these same things were happening under Obama, he would have been impeached about 3 months ago, if not 4. Imagine ServerGate and Benghazi TIMES ten.1 point

Greinke is definitely a good example of overcoming this anxiety issue stuff. Greinke is a very different personality though, kopech is more of a social guy who is dating those celebrity girls while greinke is like this almost autistic, closed off guy so like almost the opposite of kopech in that regard.1 point

Which "soft" government leaders have been most effective during this crisis? One would argue that the female governors/mayors and 3 Republican governors (Inslee/Cuomo/Newsom have also done well)...have performed as well as anyone. Kansas is NOT an easy state to deal with, not unlike Iowa. Lots of religious communities that are conservative/traditional, and then rural folks and farmers that are usually anti-government in general. Otoh, you've had idiots like Kris Kobach "valiantly" attempting to investigate mail-in ballot scandals that have unearthed 22 individuals over the past couple of decades. Westboro Baptist Church. Endless arguments about teaching creationism vs. evolution/Darwin in the schools. It's almost inconceivable to imagine a "non-bullying" attitude getting anyone's attention....at least outside of Johnson County, where the bullying is more over your social circle and net worth/connections. I don't get you Greg, why you harbor mostly ill feelings towards women like Hillary Clinton, Gretchen Whitmer in MI, Chelsea Clinton scared you for five years, Stacey Abrams in Georgia, then the shockingly Democratic female governor of one of the more conservative overall states in the USA in KS....why do they scare you so much? I mean, we've had these arguments for decades about how female politicians exhibiting ambition/aggressiveness, traits valued in men, come across as unlikable in the world of business or Washington, D.C. Why don't Ivanka and Melania scare you even moreso? If someone is a model (the two Trumps) or more attractive (we could even extend this to Sarah Palin, Kristi Noem or Tulsi Gabbard) than average, they are rendered harmless? During a flurry of activity on his Twitter account, Trump retweeted a message from game show host Chuck Woolery that claimed “everyone is lying” about the coronavirus as part of a plot to sabotage the economy and hurt Trump’s reelection campaign. “The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19,” wrote Woolery in the message promoted by Trump. “Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most ,that we are told to trust. I think it’s all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I’m sick of it.” Asked about the retweet at a briefing later Monday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that the “notion of the tweet was to point out the fact that when we use science, we have to use it in a way that is not political.” In an op-ed published on the CNBC website, Mulvaney wrote: “I know it isn’t popular to talk about in some Republican circles, but we still have a testing problem in this country. My son was tested recently; we had to wait 5 to 7 days for results. My daughter wanted to get tested before visiting her grandparents, but was told she didn’t qualify. That is simply inexcusable at this point in the pandemic.” https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-identifies-another-hoax-the-coronavirus-152649383.html1 point

Thank u turnin. Regarding this issue: I've always pretty much had the same opinion: Obey my authorities here even if I personally wanted to scream in their face at their being bullies. I'm often considered a bad citizen/person on here even though regarding corona I a.) never violated any rules .b.) wore a mask the instant it was demanded of me; and at church when that was the recommendation. c.) wrote 4 letters to my government bullies who never responded to one of them. Nice. My point? I've always been a law abiding citizen on this. Do I disagree with some things? Of course.1 point

As far as I'm concerned if an employee in any field is worried about coronavirus, he/she has the right to skip work and be paid. All of Kopech's concerns sound reasonable. It's his arm. He knows if he's ready to test it.1 point
