  1. MLB: No spitting Joe McEwing: spits, take a swig of water, swishes it around his mouth, spits it out.

  2. How can you call a homer for a team you don’t believe exists?

  3. Dunning is pushing 26. He might already be. They don't need to play service time games with him. He needs to get innings in.

  12. Sox fans are weird. One one hand, you have people that criticize Reinsdorf for being too loyal. On the other hand, you have people who post insane stuff like this. I'm just going to assume people forget Ozzie signed a backroom deal with the Marlins while he was still the Sox manager and that he's a drunk.

  16. I still believe in Collins’ ability to hit major league pitching. Hopefully he can carve out a role once McCann leaves after this season. Would be great insurance for an aging Abreu.

  17. I'm not sure we can make any predictions on Roberts peak OBP. Pitchers might find out very fast not to throw him strikes. He's going to see more sliders and curves away than Eloy did and that's saying something. He's going to be forced to take walks. The good thing is they cannot pitch around the whole lineup and that will help Robert . Maybe we're all being cautious in our appraisals . We aren't used to having a superstar type who does everything well and that could be Robert and also Moncada.

  18. Moncada plays 3b. Robert is much better defensively than Acuna. I’m not impressed by Acuna defensively. Offensively, I think Robert has as much or even more power but will hit for a Slightly lower avg and OBP.

  19. Moncada is not gonna play 2B for the foreseeable future. You are better than that @chitownsportsfan

  25. Ozzie quit on the club during the season to take the Marlin's job. That's something that can't be forgiven. Edit to add: And isn't quitting on the team during the season the exact thing that an old school guy like Ozzie would agree is a never forgive event? He can't have it both ways.

  26. Tools are just that...tools. In my view, a high power tool might still only produce just OK results. It's about potential not necessarily about the current results. Out of nowhere TA wins the batting title. He always had the potential but last year it came together for him. His defense at times is stupendous...as you point out sometimes not so much. Wouldn't shock me at all to see GG one of these days.

  27. Ozzie deserves a 2nd chance. He brought this team a world series for gods sake. We currently have a certified clown as our manager, yet we won't consider Ozzie? I'm with @greg775 on this one. The sport is too PC now a days. A brash man's man like Ozzie won't get another shot.

  28. Geez I can be a dope, a moron, a jerk, but those are not going to be among my last words. I will be pissed if the reason I die is corona, though. Obviously it could cause my death, God willing against it I desperately hope, but I hope I don't die of something as awful (in a physical, societal, blame game sense) as corona.

  31. Did you just bump a post from over a year ago...to b**** about a pick the Sox made over three years ago? You truly are a remarkable troll. Clearly, he could play some defense.

  34. Why would it be an Antifa flag instead of BLM? Because a certain someone has tried to pin it on them despite providing no evidence corroborating evidence? Well, for that to make sense, have we ever had any public flags displayed for the NAACP, SCLC, CORE, SNCC or even Black Panthers....all of the Civil Rights groups coming out of the 1950’s and 60’s? You can argue that the MLK Holiday and DC Monument is the closest representation of a flag...and moving further and further away from Columbus Day. Perhaps the proposed Harriet Tubman $20 bill. This is where it gets to be a VERY slippery slope. Do we change Memorial Day, somehow? Then you have Juneteenth, for example. Or the cultural wars over “no longer celebrating Christmas” in order to incorporate a multiplicity of other religious holidays as well as Kwanzaa. One’s head starts to spin. And then, what about (or especially) Native Americans and Hispanic Americans? Do Asian-Americans get skipped over because the discrimination they have faced is the most invisible and/or least controversial? https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/06/andrew-sullivan-is-there-still-room-for-debate.html Is there still room for debate? Very insightful piece, TLDR will be common response...but an incredibly important point he is making that many are losing sight of at the current moment. After we lost the Floyd Thread, not even sure we can reopen it even slightly, and that’s a huge shame, because it’s a necessary aspect of the national discussion which should be happening.

  35. I will never understand how kneeling in protest for the anthem is almost sac-religious, but when it comes to all the symbols of the Confederacy, you know the literal traitors who tore the country apart to enslave black people, it is "heritage" and "history". How is kneeling at the anthem less honorable than praising and honoring actual traitors? And why just the Confederacy? Why aren't we flying British, Spanish, and French flags in these same areas. The Confederacy lasted less than 5 years. British rule lasted hundreds of years. Where are all of the Union Jacks and Cornwallis statues? I have never seen a single British flag flying the US yet I know what happened during the centuries of colonization and the Revolutionary War, as well as the War of 1812. How is that even possible? On a related note, if Antifa comes up with a flag, do we have to fly that for the rest of our history? Do we have to build statues to them? Otherwise how will people know about that history?

  36. Every southern town should have a Civil War section at their library or cemetery. The history is certainly significant. It makes no sense that Civil War statues are part of modern politics. From the same people who dislike kneeling before the US flag.
