Because they’re already relying on several young / unproven players and having another guy to anchor the middle of the lineup makes sense for the 2020 season.5 points

Oh, so Canada is too good to have any Americans go there right now? Screw em. Strip them of the "Toronto" in their name this year or don't let them play.4 points

For sure Greg, on the day that covid restrictions were put back in place because people are inconsiderate selfish asshats, Lets talk about how it's no big deal to put them in stadiums to watch a game that anyone can watch on tv. Great idea Greg, one of your many3 points

Never a big Hawk fan, but it did make me laugh every time he talked about PK running the bases with a refrigerator strapped to his back.3 points

I actually do think Ozzie has matured a bit. But what he is doing right now, angling for an already filled role with the White Sox, is off the charts obnoxious. Sorry Ozzie, you quit because you were "disrespected" not having multiple years left on your contract. You also said it was a slap in the face when the organization "only" offered your son $75,000 to play baseball. Last I checked, that was $75k more than any other major league franchise. Let him to the pre and post game. Live off 2005. Nothing wrong with that. Ditka still lives off of 1985. But if he wants back in baseball, with the White Sox would be a huge mistake. Managing or coaching should be with a different organization.3 points

ALRIGHT, here we go. Vaccine company draft - Please note: While I work in the vaccine industry, I have no insider information on any of these companies and I do not intend anyone to make stock buying decisions on my mostly joke power rankings. Also, I do not work for any of these companies. Power rankings, IMHO AstraZeneca/Oxford - Oxford is a 4 tool company, what it lacks is scale up. AstraZeneca provides that fifth tool and can play center field Johnson & Johnson - Dark horse. They appear to be slightly behind on development, but they are the most capable of scale-up quickly Chinese efforts - Rounding out the top three. A bit of a wild card Moderna (Which I just figured out meant Mode RNA) - Very mature vaccine offering but has to contract out scale up from a company like Novartis or Lonzaf AG. Sanofi - Makes my list because I use ACT mouthwash which is made by Sanofi Gilead - Remdesivir appears to be Gilead's offering at the moment. The field - I'm bored of this.2 points

I love how Jason refers to the ivy as "brush", though I think it would be really awesome if he'd call it what it really is, "the weeds".2 points

Yes. They controlled a deadly virus and we didn’t. And the franchise clearly gets to decide what they’re called based on the “Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” precedent. They are the Torotno Blue Jays as long as Joe Carters jersey says that.2 points

I think the White Sox were pretty much down to one spot back in March so this might not be hard to predict. I'm thinking they'll carry 16 pitchers and 14 position players initially. Starting Pitchers Lucas Giolito Dallas Keuchel Dylan Cease Reynaldo Lopez Gio Gonzales Carlos Rodon Michael Kopech Relievers Alex Colome Kelvin Herrera Steve Cishek Aaron Bummer Jace Fry Evan Marshall Jimmy Cordero Carson Fulmer Ross Detwiler Starting 9 1. Tim Anderson SS 2. Yoan Moncada 3B 3. Jose Abreu 1B 4. Yasmani Grandal C 5. Edwin Encarnacion DH 6. Eloy Jimenez LF 7. Nomar Mazara RF 8. Luis Robert CF 9. Leury Garcia 2B Bench James McCann (C) Zack Collins (C) Danny Mendick (INF) Adam Engel (OF) Cheslor Cuthbert (UT)1 point

Your OPS argument is a joke. EE has a lower OPS due to his early years. Take a look at recent years and it is no contest. EE >>> Abreu. If you are so confident, put your money where your mouth is and lets wager a ban bet on it.1 point
-
It wasn't an unreasonable gamble by the Sox. It is inarguable that EE has been great the last eight years. I think the point is that old hitters have the end come on suddenly. We've seen several Sox prospects with wrist injuries take a year to regain their strength and they were kids. I think there is as good a chance that Collins with his elite batting eye becomes a great hitter as there is that EE continues to be a good hitter. One gamble costs you $12 million the other costs nothing. One gamble, if it pays off, has big impact for Sox in 2021-2025 the other has nothing. I know what gamble I'm taking.1 point

EE has looked phenomenal from what I have seen. I was scared he would hit a wall due to age, but he has looked awesome. He very well could be the best hitter on the team.1 point
-
EE is 37...coming off a year where he played 10 games the last two months of the regular season and was nearly worthless in the playoffs. It is just untrue that Collins hasn't come within 50 points of .875 OPS in the minors unless you mean last year in AAA where his .951 OPS was more than 50 points above .875...he was a top ten draft pick and had an OPS above 1.000 in his three years at Miami. I think it's fair to say at their peak career value Collins might never be the hitter that EE was. But we are talking about 20202 with an old man coming off a broken wrist versus a 25 year old player with maybe the best walk rate in the minors, that hit as well as Robert in AAA and and in his last two weeks of the 2019 put up a .960 OPS in the majors. There is just no way you can say with confidence that 2020EE>2020ZC.1 point

Well then how am I supposed to prove I am smarter than everyone with reflexive pessimism while also building in a perfect excuse if I am wrong? Poll's rigged man.1 point

That barrage of extra base hits was fun. 3 doubles a triple and HR with most of the damage coming after 2 outs. Remember David Ross said “I’m going to treat it like a real game as much as possible.” Lucky for him it wasn't .1 point

People want Ozzie back in today's climate? I've read it all now. Ozzie will always hold a place in Sox history for 2005, but wow have people forgot about his flaws quickly. He's not managing anymore for MANY reasons.1 point
