  2. Around the league, there are a lot of guys putting up awful numbers right now. Gary Sanchez, Javy Baez., Cody Bellinger, Altuve, Semien... Chances are, EE isn’t a .156 hitter and Mazara actually has some pop. Odds are overwhelming that James McCann isn’t suddenly a .350 hitter. Ride the hot streaks, but usually things come back to or at least pretty close to the mean. The guys slumping will heat up, the guys on fire will cool off a bit. No need to panic .

  6. The guy has been a professional since we signed him. He's done nothing but hit with shitty teams and no protection around him. Everybody complained about the extension, and he's as good as ever this year with some actual talent around him. Keep it up, Jose. You've been great. P.S. Suck it, Ron.

  8. Alright boys, today is game two of a three parter at Wrigley. The Sox absolutely demolished the Cubs in the series opener last night, winning by a score of 10-1 thanks to a strong outing from Dallas Keuchel and six bombs that travelled a combined 2,547 feet. The Sox have now won six straight and sit just one game back of the Twins for the division lead. This team is on fire but far bigger challenges await these next two games. One of those challenges will be Kyle Hendricks, who makes the start for the Cubs today. Kyle is off to an excellent start this season with a 3-2 record and a 2.71 FIP while generating lots of weak contact via his sinker / changeup heavy approach and pinpoint command of the strike zone. Hendricks has faced the Sox seven times in his career and despite a 1-3 record he’s actually been pretty good against us posting a better than career average FIP (3.26) & strikeout rate (8.5/9). That being said, rosters obviously change over time and only two members of our current team have more than 10+ plate appearances against him in Jose & Tim. Both have been awesome against Hendricks posting OPS’s of 1.134 & .900 respectively. If the offense can just avoid chasing Hendricks’ curves & changeups outside of the strike zone, they’ll hopefully see more 87 MPH four seamers in the zone and have a chance to score more runs than expected today. As for the Sox, we’ll be rolling with Reynaldo Lopez today fresh off the IL. I’ll be honest, I was a huge fan of his when he was first acquired in the Eaton trade and would love to put a positive spin on what he might offer today, but he has simply failed to show much development under Cooper. Despite elite velocity, Reynaldo has struggled due to inconsistent / poor spin on his four seamer and an inability to command his secondary pitches. That being said, occasionally it all clicks and he’s able to dominate like he did against the Cubs back in 2018. And if nothing else works, at least we have StatCast’s “similar pitchers” to dream on! Let’s fucking go boys!!!!!!!

  12. For a game that's designed around being a marathon, it's amazing how little patience baseball fans have now. It has to be a generational thing.

  13. Hopefully it’ll be Lopez for 3, Detwiler for 2, Foster for 1 or 2, and then go from there. The Sox need to have a short leash for Reynaldo

  14. Lol you know how mnay baseballs are a hair away from being gone? Thats called baseball. You guys are fucking hilarious. Gave up 1 hit in 3 2/3 and the sox are lucky because of a lazy fly ball. Embarrasing Same dopes telling everyone how much smarter they are than renteria everyday are the same guys crying about jose being extended.

  19. Current wRC+ & fWAR stats for our starters through what should normally be the 1/6 point of the season. Obviously there will some be regression for certain guys (both good & bad), but the fact is Yoan, Timmy, Robert, & Eloy are all legit young stars that we have locked up for the next four to seven years. The “window” has officially fucking opened. Anderson: 204 / 1.2 Moncada: 125 / 1.2 Grandal: 103 / 0.4 Abreu: 141 / 0.7 Jiménez: 145 / 0.8 Encarnacion: 64 / 0.0 Robert: 133 / 1.1 Mazara: 69 / -0.2 Mendick: 97 / 0.3

  35. Lopez needs to be kept on the World's shortest leash. We have 1st place in our sights...this is no time for Ricky's gentle management technique.

  36. Rick Renteria may suck. Cooper may be past his prime. Fernando Tatis Jr may be an MVP JR may be kinda lame. Rick Hahn may be just a lawyer. KW may be past his prime. Menechino may... wait I havent heard anything about him. But shit this team is fun. And everyone involved in building this deserves some credit for doing this before rebuilds like this go the way of the do do bird. Finally some fun times on the South Side. Enjoy this everyone. Hopefully they can win a World Series or 3 while they're at it.

  40. The way McCann easily shoots balls to right and right center when he has 2 strikes is definitely a skill he couldn’t have had when he sucked. It’s something only elite hitters do

  41. It's a great question. I know the politically correct answer is to let them play and see what we have. My personal preference would see more of Engel in RF and McCann being used more as DH. The lineup that helps me win tonite's game is the one I prefer to have on the field.

  42. I am not one to read too much into one game; the next two will be tough. But there is something symbolic about the 10-1 win. The Sox look like they are on the rise, and the Cubs look like they are on the decline. I hear little talk about a dynasty and what a genius Theo is. They had their nice playoff run and it's over. What do the Cubs fans have left ? A greedy and fascist owner and the Marquee Network. In reality, the Cubs were more lovable when they were losing. Their past success wasn't deserved. Future losing is.
