  1. Honestly, fuck off man. I normally find your schtick somewhat amusing but you're accusing a leader of your own team who is making history right now of taking steroids. With all sincerity, GTFO of here until you can unfuck your head.

  3. The coolest thing about both teams is that they both are full of players, and all of them have names. I just love seeing, reading, and typing them!

  5. The guy has been a professional since we signed him. He's done nothing but hit with shitty teams and no protection around him. Everybody complained about the extension, and he's as good as ever this year with some actual talent around him. Keep it up, Jose. You've been great. P.S. Suck it, Ron.

  6. I like how Jose — a ROY, 2x Silver Slugger, and 3x All-Star — having a good season is so unfathomable to you that you have to interject steroids into the story line, yet you believe a career minor leaguer at age 27 is some super slugger extraordiare.

  9. Alright boys, today is the third & final game against the Cubs at Wrigley. The Sox will be going for the sweep this afternoon after winning game two by a score of 7-4 despite a pitching matchup that heavily favored the Cubs on paper. The Sox’s offense exploded for another five HRs last night, three of which came from Abreu giving him an AL leading 10 on the year. We have now won seven straight behind a group of hitters that lead all of baseball in fWAR. Unfortunately, wins by the Twins & Indians keep us a game back from the Central lead, but both clubs should terrified by what the Sox are doing right now as this offense is going to a real problem for years to come. On the mound today for the Sox is Dylan Cease, who has a 4-1 record on the season despite an ugly looking 6.16 FIP. As mentioned previously, poor command is really hurting him this year as he’s been unable to hit his spots and is too often falling behind in the count (his first pitch strike % is 5 points worse than league average). This has resulted in a 15th percentile K rate (6 per 9) and a propensity to give up the long-ball when missed over the plate. For Cease it all starts with the four seamer and if he can locate that pitch better, he’ll quickly find favorable spots to leverage his slider & changeup which have been effective this year in generating whiffs. At some point it’s going to click for him and perhaps facing the team that drafted him will bring the best out of Dylan today. For the Cubs today will be Yu Darvish, who sits at 4-1 on the season with a 2.02 FIP. When this guy is on he is an absolute monster and that appears to be the case this year. Darvish has a monster of a repertoire, with StatCast showing at least six different pitches thrown this year and with some of them having various off-shoots (including hard & soft versions of his cutter). Almost all of them are of high quality, with his cutters, four seamer, slider, & curves all generating whiff rates above 28%. His cutter in aggregate is ranked as one of the best in the game (FG has it 3rd overall) and he now uses the two versions of it over 50% of the time (up from 15% just two years ago) to setup his array of breaking balls. No matter how you slice it, this dude is going to be a real challenge for us today. That being said, his BB/9 & HR/9 rates are not sustainable and if our guys can lay off the junk outside of the zone (easier said than done), we may set ourselves for some walks and hopefully a few mistakes in the zone. Looking at the matchup data, Edwin is the only guy who has faced Yu a material amount of times (25 plate appearances) and actually has a 1.059 OPS against him. For better or worse, I’d roll with him at DH today and start Abreu & McCann at 1B & C respectively as both are hot right now and each have a bomb off Darvish (SSS admittedly). I hate leaving Yasmani on the bench and I’m sure people will call me crazy, but I want to maximize our chances of putting any Darvish mistakes in the bleachers and that means rolling the dice on Edwin even if Grandal is probably the safer play. Let’s fucking go boys!!!!!!!!

  10. I'm not pissed cease started the sixth. But not having anybody up is bull shit. You tell him you going out first sign of trouble you done. If he closes the inning out without giving up anything great. But the double to baez should have been the end

  16. If Abreu really has as much to do with the recruiting and extending of our Latin kids as has been whispered about, not to mention taking these kids under his wing and showing them a high level work ethic, he is worth every single penny of that deal he got.

  17. Abreu hits HR in 4 consecutive at bats. Ron: Abreu is the first Sox player ever to fail in his attempt to hit 5 consecutive HRs.

  24. I also hope the Sox can stop the alarming trend of hitting fewer homers than the day before. btw. Based on other statistical trends Abreu will homer four times today,

  25. Ron buddy ! I'm so glad you're Ok ! I thought you might've been gagging on that big black crow shoved down your throat last night.

  26. Think about that. Against the Cubs. In Wrigley. We are witnessing a destructive bat. Five homers in two games. I salute this man. ... I know Ron's excuse. He'll say he can't handle pressure and if there were fans he'd be striking out. He's only hot in empty stadiums. I say ... Jose keep it up, sir. See the ball, hit the ball. Relax and BOOM!

  27. Games over be happy .We beat the Cubs 2 in a row, 3 Abreu bombs. A Robert tater. Not terrible pitching. 7 wins in a row. Why focus on the negative ? Colome isnt Mariano Rivera but he's been a very reliable guy for a while when BP arms are shaky year to year. You guys shit your pants at the slightest hint of trouble. Time to believe !

  32. Hopefully Cease has a good start today. That’s all I‘m really concerned with.. They are playing with house money today and a loss wouldn’t be a big deal. I wouldn’t complain about a sweep though ?

  36. I was blown away with the caliber of the at bats tonight against Hendricks. I can only recall a few changeups they swung and missed. Considering the enormous strike zone he was getting, he usually would have dominated.

  38. The game threads are hilarious - everyone sucks most of the time haha. But that is Soxtalk! I just know one thing - this team is FUN. Perfect, no - but fun and they are going to be good for a LONG TIME.

  39. It really has boggled my mind how negative so many were about mgr decisions and just generally on players given what had been such small sample sizes. Even Mazara - guy has a lot of good at bats. You can see he's a tick slow but I'm not ready to give up and if he's your worse player, that's still pretty good. If there is anything that worries me about this team - it is the team defense and additional of another front line pitcher (hoping Gio is one of them, Keuchel is pretty good, but one more would be stellar (maybe one of our guys develops into it or better yet two or three of our young guys turn into total studs But those are things that could get in the way of winning a World Series - not things that make this team unbearable to watch. They are the opposite - a total freaking joy to watch. This team has made me like baseball again after what was just a miserable freaking decade (2010-2019).

  44. So, they're basically doing club dub like the Bears started when they got good with a young team in 2018. Great, this season is going to end with a walk-off home run against us in the playoffs that somehow double doinks off of the foul pole.
