Worried about being healthy? Here’s what Ricky did tonight: Had Giolito throw 119 pitches in his last start before the playoffs Had Heuer pitch again after throwing two innings yesterday Had Crotchet pitch on back to back days the same day he said he probably wouldn’t pitch him on consecutive days Had Colome warming up a day after experiencing back spasms I haven’t even ripped Ricky for anything tonight, but how can you say with a straight face that his goal was keeping people healthy?10 points

It's not. The seasons have peaks and valleys. The Sox won 20 of 25 games; that's remarkable, that's called a peak. No team plays .800 baseball all year. The Sox now are in a bit of a valley, just as they started the season. GUess what? They're win percentage is still .607. That's a 98 win team; you guys can go ahead and bump the preseason win projections, but I'm 99% sure not many predicted a 98 win team. The valleys for good teams hurt MORE because the games are closer. Our valleys last year were 8-0 blowouts. So many here wear the emotions of a baseball game likes it's an NFL SUnday. It's nonsense. Seasons run in runs; hitting can be contagious, bullpens run together frequently, SP tend to get hot together. It's human nature. It's how all large sample games work; it's a collection of many small samples which have a lot of noise. The White Sox aren't hitting. They're still a good hitting team. You should be excited that the way the Sox are losing is a way that won't be possible in the playoffs; because those pitchers won't be used. Baseball is a long season. It's fun to get excited but so many people lose the grander picture. Right now the Sox are worried about staying healthy first, and staying in the top 4 seeds second. Honestly they probably don't care as much about a division this year as others due to the top 4 seed rule. You can get angry that you think these games are all must wins, but it's just not being treated that way. 6 months ago we were all just begging for baseball. COVID had overcome. I made a guarantee to myself then that if we got baseball, I would enjoy it. I have been miserable watching this team for the past few years; this year, they're fun, exciting, competitive and on pace to be a NINETY EIGHT WIN team. Have they been consistent? No, but almost NO TEAM is. I've read that people aren't excited for the playoffs, and they're in football mode and that this team stinks now. What in the fuck? They've outperformed every expectation put in front of them, and we're going to see post-season baseball for the first time in 12 years while suffering in the midst of a financial crisis and a pandemic and people want to complain because they didn't win TWO games? People are taking this for granted, and it's that which is frustrating to a fan and a human in this world we live in. You don't like what you're watching, then watch something else... but calling this a trash product when these guys are putting a top notch product on the field is pure nonsense. Go Sox! ANd Luis Robert is going to shut a lot of dumb asses up come October. Rant over.7 points

No one cares, you egomaniac. Fucking get over yourself, you've now taken to needling people when they don't take your bait, you actively make the board worse every time you post.7 points

A “valley” less than a week before the postseason starts is no time for a Pollyanna pep talk. What’s happening is troubling.5 points

Ruiz and Gio just pitched back to back the highest leverage innings of the season. Did I already post this? You can only laugh to keep from crying.5 points

This was the 13th game in a row. Guys are tired and there are no opportunities to catch a breather, let some soreness work itself out, or have a day to clear your head by not going to the ballpark. It’s tough to maintain dominance during a stretch of 17 straight games. In fact, it’s pretty much absolute bullshit that MLB is doing this to them. That said, you can’t have managerial incompetence piling onto an already difficult situation. Fucking Jose Ruiz? Gio Gonzalez? Trying to close out extra inning or tied games? Seriously!? Abysmal management and decision making. There has to be a reckoning this offseason.4 points

Gio is a gas can at this point. They said Colome was warming up so either it didn’t go well or they were saving him for a save situation. Detwiler has been bad lately, I take it Foster wasn’t available. Gio made a horrible pitch. The Sox lost 2 huge games with the last guys in their bullpen on the mound. If it’s the 14th or 15th inning, you could understand, but not the 9th and 10th.4 points

Maybe we can have another b****ing thread, that will change the mojo! Nah, how about we install a real fucking manager.4 points

Lopez and Cease have taken significant steps backwards under Cooper's tutelage. The same goes for Giolito. He literally went back to work with his high school pitcher coach to fix his issues instead of Coop.4 points
-
If he is going to be considered the ace, Giolito needs to bring it tonight. Shut the Indians down. If they have to win 2-1, 3-2, fine. It's time to play like a post-season team. I don't care who is on the mound for the other guys. They're going to face tough pitching in the playoffs. I had hoped the Cubs series would be meaningless. That isn't the case now. I know that all teams have slumps, but a first place team should not get swept in a four-game series. It is time for Giolito to put an end this shit. This has been an exciting season. Don't end it like the 1969 Cubs.4 points

Ahhhhh yes. No White Sox loss is complete until Ray tells me how to be a fan. Now I can sleep.3 points

I couldn't be happier with my decision to not give a shit about the results of this "season" because you people sound absolutely miserable.3 points

August 21st 2 out of 3 from the Cubs and September 14th 3 out of 4 from the Twins. Show me the other series wins this season against good teams. Show your work. Show me our story of success this year against good teams.3 points

And you just KNOW that if we get swept out by the Yanks, the excuse was going to be "We ran into the hot team, it happens in baseball, nothing you can do" when it was completely in our control this week.3 points

I thought managers dont have an impact on the game. Then I watch the clown show trot out the last arms in the pen. I cant wait for him to throw Cishek out tomorrow in the 9th. Why not.3 points
-
Yup the fact that a manager let the team stop playing hard after just clinching a playoff spot doesn't bode well for Ricky at all. It kind of just shows the fact that we were winning in spite of him and whatever he did for the clubhouse.3 points

A win tonight and Twins loss would be HUGE and make me a very happy camper. Could leave Cleveland with a 4.5 game lead over the Tribe and 2 games over the Twins. Its possible, but a lot to ask for sure.3 points

I had my face painted half white and half black in Anaheim for game 5, sitting near the left foul pole on the field level. Some drunk dude in a tie died shirt in front of me was yelling obscenities at me... and everyone was telling him that kids were around and to calm it down. ? Walking out of the stadium angles fans were congratulating our team and the parking lot afterward became a huge White Sox talegate party. Best way for an out of state life long California Sox fan to live out that year. ?3 points

Why the hell is Dyson on the roster if we're not gonna let him pinch run? Yolmer is the only guy we have who can play the infield on the bench. You should never run him for the DH.2 points

Hahn clarified eligibility last week during his press conference, and struck down some misconceptions including the Sept 15 active roster deadline date bantered about here and elsewhere. The rules regarding the expanded playoffs, including taxi squads, the elimination of the bogus extra inning rule for playoff games, and other aspects can be found here: https://www.mlb.com/cardinals/news/mlb-announces-expanded-playoffs-for-2020 The roster rules can be found here: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility Hahn indicated the White Sox playoff roster will be submitted to the league on the date it is due to allow maximum flexibility among the 40 players eligible.2 points

Signing EE was the right move at the time. He is a quality bat and they didn't know Abreu would go nuts. Collins and Vaughn were probably not in the plans for this season. Signing Grandal over McCann is the right move and I have no problem with that. Trading for Mazara over signing Ozuna or trading for Joc was a problem. Not giving more at bats to McCann over EE a few weeks ago was a problem. Playing Mazara over Engel is still a problem. Lineup construction and order is still a problem. Go Sox!2 points

Also, EE was signed before anyone knew there wouldn't be minor league season.2 points

IDK if this is a meltdown. A couple bad games and some bad luck. We are a week removed from taking 3 of 4 from our rival.2 points
-
So teams that had their bad stretches earlier "deserve it". Cmon, the Sox have played so well they can afford a little skid. It would still take a pretty bad meltdown to lose the division. They have the tie breaker.2 points

Starter. With this stuff, he has a chance to be a TOR guy and they need to see if he can do it. Starters have far, far more value than relievers. Yes, I thought he was a dubious pick, and if they leave him as a reliever, I will, unfortunately, have been correct. Starter.2 points

I would have been late on the 2-2 pitch because no way would I think they would be dumb enough to throw a low fastball2 points

At the end of the day if there were NO questions about Crochet, he would have been the #1 pick. He has that kind of stuff. I honestly believe if we had played a full college season that the Sox wouldn't have drafted him with the 11th pick. If he had showed what the Sox think he can be, he would have been a top 3 pick in all likelihood. If he had regressed towards what he had looked like before his previous season, he wouldn't have been on a radar until the later rounds as a lottery ticket. He also did some starting, but definitely wasn't a full time starter in college. He will need to really work to get himself into shape for the marathon that is starting, but the team wouldn't have drafted him if they didn't think he could do it, as well as believing in their developmental staff here.2 points
