You're also talking about a perfect world were everyone listens and does what they are supposed to do with no argument at all instead of being forced to be responsible. Sure it would be great if we made a plan where we just said "Hey everyone stay home for 3 weeks. Only go out if it's vitally necessary. After 3 weeks it will all be over and we can go back to normal again." But that's fantasy thinking. Instead we have to force businesses to close because if we don't, people will still continue to go to them. Whether it's because they think the rules don't apply to them or because they think it's somehow against their "freedoms" or whatever else. And here we are, months later continuing to fight this thing because so many people can't seem to do the right thing.3 points

You a good poster and know the game but we have no clue how he caught the virus . It could have been easy as standing next to the wrong person at the wrong . I just hope he recovers 100 percent by next spring.3 points

I don’t know why you ask this 50 times. The problem is not everyone is in group A. In fact not nearly enough are in group A. Therefore, there needs to be restrictions that will enforce that behavior. They put speed bumps on residential streets even though most people drive responsibly on these streets.2 points

I see that number and only think of shorter waits at the barber shop and a quicker Communion line, but I’m selfish.2 points

Why? Hahn has for sure addressed it internally, which is really all that matters. Sure we all WANT to know, but it isn't a need. It doesn't matter a lick if he tells the rest of us October 2, today, or November. It will come out when it comes out.2 points

Getting Nimmo would be so damn nice. He put up some great numbers this year. His wRC+ of 148 would be 2nd best on the Sox. I feel they'll keep him around given the new owner, unfortunately. They may be buyers.2 points

I love Abreu and understand his aversion to the DH, but the right thing for the team in the short and long term is to agree to a 50% job share. Everyone has got to make adjustments in their game as they age (including learning to be comfortable with different routines), and the sooner he learns to do it, the longer his career can be.2 points

There is zero chance that they didn't order an MRI if they thought there was any chance of a tear. Keep in mind that if there is swelling results aren't always accurate and clear in the early days.2 points

I have just been told I won't be required to come into the office until there is a vaccine and people are getting vaccinated. That is pretty sweet. I was hating working from home for a while, but now I kind of dig it.2 points

How dumb do you think the front office is? They saw RR with the Cubs. They saw him on the bench with Robin in his last year, and how they have seen him run the team for four years. If they didn't like him and he wasn't doing what the front office wanted, he wouldn't be here. I think there is a lot of wishful thinking going on here for a situation that isn't nearly as tenuous as some would like. This team was 72-89 last year, and was 35-25 this year, which was a 95 win pace. They made the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. The players seemingly love Ricky. I think some people are so caught up in the individual moves, that they missing the forest for the trees. Maybe if another year or two down the road if RR really is stopping this team from going something might happen, but it was clear this year that the primary problem was the lack of starting pitching, and the front office knows that better than anyone. I have no doubt they will be looking to add at least one more primary starter, and maybe another depth piece besides. They see their window as now. If they thought RR wasn't in the window, he's already be gone.2 points

Rudy Guiliani, the only person on Trump's debate prep team that hasn't tested positive, was on Fox News last night coughing his ass off. i am sure he is hoping for a positive test so he can feel better than he has in years.2 points

I waited for 3 1/2 hours at the DMV this morning to get my Tennessee driver’s license and voter registration in order. Basically lost a half day of work at the worst time of year for me, but it was worth every waking second knowing I’ll be able to vote against this fucking clown in a red state.2 points

(the quote about feeling better than in 20 years) The steroid he's getting, Dexamethasone, makes you feel better even if you're sick. They give it to cancer patients. The "dietary supplement" he's getting, Melatonin, is a hormone produced by the pineal gland (it's above your brain) that regulates sleep. One of the side effects of Dexamethasone is to keep you awake at night. The guy doesn't understand why he's feeling better! I guarantee with ~100% certainty that there will be a deal before election day even though he said there won't. His negotiation style is to go to the extreme, in public, and scare people. Who are we to say it doesn't work?1 point

Interesting debate but I know we just are wanting him to be healthy after that amazing start to his career!! We can never have enough pitching. Hope all of your families are safe and healthy! Peace1 point

adding by subtraction!!!! Get rid of Encarnacion, Mazara, Gonzalez and Lopez. Opening up spots for Kopech and Vaughn. We can live with this lineup with Engel in right unless the right FA is affordable. Try to keep McCann, although that may tough and could sideline Vaughn. Cease and Dunning may be long relief help and try and stretch out Crochet. Dallas, Gio, Kopech and Crochet and pray for rain!!!!1 point

Cease for Benintendi is a massive overpayment. Lopez for Benintendi is pretty fair.1 point

I put no credence in what fangraphs says about prospects. They had Jimmy Lambert as a 35 FV before the season and Yermin ranked highly. It couldn't be more obvious to me that they don't watch these guys play and the sources they rely on probably aren't that great. From what I've seen on the mound, Colas looks like about a $1M international FA guy as a pitcher. As a hitter I'm not sure but he seems pretty advanced for his age, and this is all the chubby Colas. In shape Colas is probably much better. I see why Colas isn't super exciting because he's not super exciting as a pitcher and as a hitter maybe we are lacking info. But there is raw talent there and I think he looks like a good signing for about $1.5M or less. Remember that most of these guys don't make it at all, and the ones who do will take leaps beyond where they are now. I wouldn't care about what the fangraphs guys say though.1 point

It’s been said already... he will during his end of the year presser... usually they don’t take the focus from any playoff baseball and hold announcements until the end of the World Series.1 point

If the Sox aren't firing him, they are on board with what he is doing. If they have a major problem with him, they would fire him. They would not let a guy that they didn't think could lead this team manage a team that is just starting its big run, and potentially waste those years. Sure people like Frank Thomas and Steve Stone have opinions, but the only ones that really matter are JR, RH, and KW. If they are OK, he stays. if they don't think he can handle this, he goes. They aren't about to waste time here. Replacing RR would be a MUCH cheaper option spending for players. I think you are retreating a bit from your original opinions hear to soften up the original statements to make them a bit more gray, so hopefully you realize that no front office would let a manager just do whatever the hell he wanted, especially if they thought it was stupid. These guys are 100% working together on this decision making. They made decisions during the season which were intended to try to get the guys they thought coming into the season would be best for the team in the playoffs. You mentioned things like EE hitting fifth. I am sure they weren't just looking at this seasons number and instead were judging him on the hitter he has been his career thinking that the team would be way better off with a vintage EE, than anyone else on the team in that role, so they tried to get him back there. I promise you that if RH and KW had a problem with this, RR would have gotten a talking to and it wouldn't have happened more than once, or they would have fired him. No management would tolerate mid level leadership who refused to be a team player, and the White Sox aren't any different. RR is here because RH and KW think he can do this job. If he was running around on his own, he wouldn't be here.1 point

I don't think it's cut-and-dried these days. As more and more pitchers run into UCL issues, it seems to me that we've seen both (1) an increasing number of pitchers able to get back to 100% using platelet-rich injections and related therapies as an alternative, and (2) an increasing numbers of pitchers fail to get back to effectiveness post-Tommy John, either at all or within a short-enough time frame to avoid significantly lowering their ceilings. The cost of losing six months to waiting and finding out you need TJS anyway seems like a significant cost to us in the short-term, but when you compare it to the risks of the procedure and the built-in costs of loss of physical-prime development time that comes with the rehab, and try to put yourself in the shoes of the person who is taking those risks -- all of a sudden six months can seem like a reasonable or even barely significant price to pay for more information/certainty.1 point

Timmy might have a case to make with 9 hits in a 3 game series But on the whole, I agree they will take stick with Mazara based what he did at the end of the year...the only disagreement I would have with myself about that is that they did bench him for game 1 of the series and they might not like what he would get in arbitration. We will see.1 point

Hahn should have nothing to do with ordering an mri... that is completely on the medical staff. I am sure if there is any reason to he would have had it by now. I will trust what ptatc has said on here many times... if you don’t need to do surgery you don’t do it.1 point
-
I know some think the opposite; however, the longer this goes on without knowing makes me think this is more serious than expected. It never works, look at Dunning, to say let's see if it can heal.............Starting to get worried. Hahn should have ordered the MRI immediately and we would have know something by now.1 point

I think you need to go all in now with the expectation of having a 3 year window. The White Sox don’t have endless financial resources but they should be able to push a $150 million payroll over the next 3 years. Here is what I would do if I was GM - Trade for Lindor and extend contract, move TA to LF. Looking at the package BOS got for Betts I think the price for Lindor would be less than what LAD paid. Sign Springer Sign Stroman Acquire TOR arm for a package built around Vaughn This lineup would be the best in baseball: TA Lindor Robert Abreu Moncada Jimenez - Permanent DH Springer Grandal Madigral Rotation would look like: Giolito TOR acquired via trade DK Stroman One of the remaining arms you didn't trade (Kopech, Dunning, Cease)1 point

The Sox will overtake the Cubs in popularity right after the Mets overtake the Yankees and the Clippers overtake the Lakers. In other words, probably best to just look at what's going on on-field for any bragging rights.1 point

I'd trade for the Cubs owner any day. This list of "stupid" goes to Reinsdorf hands down. It's great to relish in the Cub's misery but in reality it's picking a speck when we have a log in our own eye. Outside of both teams having a world series this century the choke factor is huge on both sides. The Sox will always be the step child in Chicago.1 point

Let me know when the Sox are packing in 35K+ into GRATE and the Cubs are mired around a 18K average. Then you can crow. I feel the pain of raising a kid in Chicago as a Sox fan but any talk of "tipping points" is way premature. The Sox are positioned to perhaps grab some attention, that's about it.1 point

Pretty epic collapse by the Cubbies in the last week...losing 7 in a row...5 one run losses in a row at home. I am not saying they are at the end of their run but the window is closing.1 point

Probably too early. I'm still holding out hope for an all Chicago World Series in the next few years, and I think their core is still solid enough to do so. Pitching has got to be better for the north siders, though.1 point
