I don’t remember credit card. He said “couldn’t pull a greased (pronounced greezed) tee out of my behind with a pair of pliers.” Which poses a question: why is there a tee in your ass?3 points

You win with pitching. I'm all for trading to make the team better but you don't give up years unless you get years in return. Just because the ultra rich, always in contention, alway in perpetual sunshine Dodgers can sign a guy they traded for doesn't mean the Sox can duplicate that because they can't. Trades have to be smart. Chicago is not bathed in sunshine year round. The payroll isn't $250M and we aren't in contention year in and year out. Dodgers are an elite franchise. The Sox can't even beat out Cleveland, Minnesota, KC, or Detroit for division titles. Giving up players when they are still cheap unless you get back other players who are still cheap is pretty much the only way the Sox can operate. It's a lovely fantasy though. If you want to talk about Yelich I prefer to look , not at the extension, but at the trade that landed him in Milwaukee . The Brewers didn't trade for a guy with one year left. They traded for a guy with 5 years left. They gave up a bunch of prospects for a guy on the rise who then became one of the best in baseball. That's how you do it. I can accept comparing the Sox to the Brewers not to the Dodgers.3 points

No I was gonna write in Ozzie but thought better of it. If I said I wrote in Ventura I lied but I do love Ventura. I'm no dummy. If I did lie, sorry, Buffalo, it's not a good thing to do. I realize Trump is a rich spoiled man who is selfish IMO and not the best person. But Hillary had angered me beyond belief. I did vote for Sox fan/great man Obama twice. To be honest with you, I'd probably vote for Michelle O if she ran this time. You won't see me voting for either of these candidates this year. Sad that some people like me won't be at the polls.2 points

Just because I love Tucker doesn't mean he's a bad host, ill informed. I could say the same about Cuomo and Lemon. Just because some people are silent about it does not mean Tucker Carlson and Hannity do not have a lot of viewers. Personally I just want us all to live in peace, have health and be prosperous right now. I fear all three things are things of the past. It makes me sad and concerned that people can;'t accept others' views and why they might disagree with others views. Believe it or not, Carlson has a ton of viewers. So does Limbaugh. So does Hannity. You may know some people who watch them or like them. Those viewers are not all bad Americans. Personally I also enjoy Maher and listening to his views. Yet I also love Rogan. It's good to listen to all views.2 points

One thing worth pointing out is that we have six guys under salary for the 2023 season at a total cost of $70M. That’s Grandal, Moncada, Timmy, Eloy, Robert, & Bummer. That doesn’t include Giolito who will be in his 3rd year of arbitration, which could push that total close to $90M for just seven guys. Even if Reinsdorf goes all-in with say a $170M payroll, that only leaves $80M for the remaining 19 spots. Point is the Sox will not give up on a cheap young talent like Cease very quickly because we’ll need several guys like him to develop into useful pieces to offset the rising costs of the core. I also wouldn’t expect a sizable long-term investment in RF this offseason. A stopgap like Joc or Brantley is far more likely with resources being allocated towards more near term pitching needs while Cease, Dunning, Kopech, & Crotchet continue to develop in the majors or AAA.2 points

I think you simply need to keep Eloy the OF because you have Vaughn and Jose. Just get a strong defensive RF and tell Eloy to let Robert and that guy do their job and only go for balls that are clearly to him so he doesn't hurt himself and others. That is imo why Vaughn to RF is stupid. Vaughn in a corner maybe would work if you had Robert and Heyward in the other corners but not with Eloy out there. And if you get another good OF why would you put an even slower guy than Eloy in the OF to DH Eloy? Vaughn can play 5 games a year in the OF but that's it.2 points

One not many ever mentioned was when someone would hit a foul ball down the line in the empty sections. He would say, the race is on, as a few people would be chasing down the ball.1 point

Theo would never take the Sox job and he wouldn't be a great fit IMO. Epstein is great at what he does but I'm not convinced he can operate without a $200 million payroll1 point

I think there will be a flood of non-tenders and cheap free agents out there to bet on. The last thing they are going to do is dump Vaughn for a position player. The ONLY way he gets moved is if the Sox get a literal ace, and Vaughn is a centerpiece in that deal. Other than that, you might as well start penciling Andrews bat into the middle of our line for the decade.1 point

Ok to be fair... Fox News has argued in court that no reasonable person could take hosts such as Tucker seriously as a news source.1 point

I would like to see JR secretly interview Theo to see if he would be interested in taking KW's gig . Then Theo could fire Renteria and replace him, again..1 point

Guessing Realmuto will command more than the $18M paid to Grandal. If we want to bolster C'ing in 21 and beyond, just resign McCann.1 point

I find it weird that Realmuto’s agent is visiting a White Sox message board.1 point

I don’t think this is true. Every time he mentions that the Sox are or aren’t in on somebody it comes to pass.1 point

It is a rare game that Engel doesn't contribute something. Defense and speed play a big role in winning many games. We need both starting & relief pitching as much as we can find.1 point
-
You left out the best part. Grandal's 2020 fWAR went up 0.4 this morning for his spatula framing.1 point
-
Whatever the WAR says, Realmuto is a much better defensive catcher. And it makes sense because in Realmuto you are talking about getting a guy who will be the next guy worth talking about after Fisk and then AJ. He'd be locked up for many years and nobody would be talking about moving him off of the position by midseason 2021 and especially by the 2021-22 offseason. But mark my words those conversations will be coming re: Grandal even if I don't say a word about it personally. Yas is a good hitter though and lefty bat is nice. But we already have enough DHs here. The fit really isn't great or necessary. As a short-term fix, fine, but anytime there is a player the quality of Realmuto on the market I think you have to take a shot. It's such an extreme rarity.1 point

I don't think Vaughn is a prototypical first basemen, unless one considers Prince Fielder to be the prototype. Vaughn has some hefty thunder thighs, short arms and short legs. Definitely not the body type that one would consider to be best suited for 1B. Catcher or DH perhaps.1 point
-
They just need to have a transition plan that leads to Vaughn being the full time first baseman come 2023. Whether it's a 80/20 or 70/30 split next year with Jose getting most of the reps that then transitions to perhaps the opposite in 2022, I think the goal is to have Vaughn the long term solution for first base during this exciting window of contention coming up these next several years.1 point
-
I agree with no RF, Vaughn is a 1B and that's where he should be. While Jose is physically able to play 1B, then Vaughn should be the primary DH. I don't like the idea to platoon 50% Vaughn and Abreu. Abreu has earned the start in 85% of the games at 1B. Give him a few days off and play at DH. It's not like Vaughn isn't going to get reps at 1B and that should be a position that he transitions well to once Jose is not able to play good defense.1 point
-
Eloy takes bad routes but his speed is not bad. He is not a burner but his sprint speed is actually above average. Vaughn is somewhere between well below average and really slow (we will see next season when statcast is out but definitely slower than Eloy)1 point
-
He could definitely be worse than Eloy. Imagine putting Paulie out there. Not saying Vaughn is that slow, but let's me real. Assuming 1st basemen would field better than Eloy is a huge stretch. Eloy flashes decent range at times.1 point
-
It would be like putting Konerko in RF. You might be able to get away with it for a game or 2, but eventually it is going to hurt you really bad. This guy hits a lot, and plays 1B decently. He is also something the Sox don’t have a lot of, a selective hitter. They do need another lefty for sure. Don’t mess with him.1 point

I don’t like that either of them would bring their stained reputation to the Sox, but they are both far superior managers than Ricky and it’s not really all that close either.1 point

Ozzie Guillen hasn't managed in the bigs in 8 years. If he were a commodity at all he wouldn't be doing post-game shows. Ozzie Guillen was a terrible manager from about 2009 on. Whatever magical touch he had with this team was long gone before he left. Ozzie Guillen QUIT on the Chicago White Sox. He negotiated a deal with Miami while still employed. That bridge is burned. Rick Renteria being terrible is no justification to bring back a bad manager who hasn't worked in nearly a decade. Thanks for 2005 and a fun run, but replacing one catastrophe with another is not the change this young squad needs. Ozzie Guillen will never manage the White Sox ever again. Fin.1 point
