  3. So then won’t hire the guy because his team hit a garbage can to signal a pitch, but they hire a guy who gets drunk and hits a garbage can with his car?

  7. Right. People make mistakes and entitled to forgiveness when they show it. Drunk driving affects a lot of people, myself included, personally, but you know it is done in ignorance not often done in malice. But that's when it happens once. When it happens multiple times, there's something going on there that needs to be figured out. And you can't just blame the people criticising.

  8. I’d rather have someone who cheated at a game than someone who got so drunk they fell asleep at the wheel TWICE

  9. I have never been more embarrassed to be a White Sox fan. This simply is not okay and MUST result in a statement by Reinsdorf that he made a mistake and they will no longer honor the hire. I honestly may step down as a white Sox fan.

  11. What a goddamn embarrassment. La Russa should have never been allowed anywhere near this team.

  12. We’re talking about 32 total games. This idea that Nick is suddenly a poor defender or base-runner is laughable. He made a handful of errors in a small sample size that drastically brought his fWAR down. It’s not crazy to think that some of these miscues were driven by nerves and trying to do too much. I’m not optimistic that power will ever come, but I’m confident that his fielding & base-running will be above average. People really need to stop drawing conclusions about a player based on their first handful of games.

  15. In all seriousness, getting two DUIs after age 65 - it's hard to believe this isn't a problem. Either he's drinking alone or around a bunch of alcoholic friends that aren't telling him about these things invented 120 years ago called "cabs" (let alone the recent improvements). And beyond that, JR owes his employees an apology. Many are in jobs that are true charms, but lots of pressure and have really been working toward total alignment toward winning. And he stepped around that in an "I know better than you" move, pissing over their work. That's what would happen with normal people. The white sox will feign offense, use the criticism as proof that only they are right and every critique is hysterical, and steer the tank into a minefield. But these are some damn good players, so we'll see if it even matters. The fuckin mets made it to a world series.

  27. I don’t agree. Totally believable with Jerry Reinsdorf and Tony LaRussa involved. The White Sox could literally have dozens of better candidates wanting to manage, setting aside Tony’s habitual criminal behavior, yet Jerry demanded Hahn fire Renteria and hire this disgusting drunken scumbag. If LaRussa is managing the team to start the season, I literally hope they lose every single game until this criminal piece of shit is flushed down the toilet. And don’t pay this racist drunk driving asshole a penny, pull the professional conduct clause and terminate him immediately, if not sooner. Regime change begins at home. RESIGN IMMEDIATELY JERRY REINSDORF, YOU HAVE LOST ANY SHRED OF MORAL AUTHORITY TO LEAD THIS ORGANIZATION FOR ONE SECOND FURTHER.

  29. The Sox either did not know and Jerry is not letting his guy go down like this or they did know and thought it would not leak or blow up. Even if Jerry doesn’t care, if people make enough noise they will have no choice but to fire him.

Do you know how many times you have taken a small part of a comment aside, written a political dissertation response, recommended they read a certain book or watch a show or listen to a podcast, and finished with "DM me if you want to discuss further"? i mean ffs just own it dude. It doesn't bleed into other threads if you aren't bringing it into other threads. Don't respond to it

  37. As time goes on, I hate this hire more and more. I do not want this manager on this team, for many reasons. It’s really bringing me down, and is going to affect my enthusiasm for this team next year. I think all the intangible looseness that has been an asset for many might be totally gone next year under his “old school” stewardship. I really don’t like a lot of his remarks about player action and sincerity.

  38. No. I think we all fairly laid out why the Buster was a fucking hassle and while I appreciate that you keep telling us it was great for you, overall it is not great for everyone. If events like an election take on a life of their own we will adjust accordingly

  39. I think this is true, but I also don't think it's worth discounting. My thought with madrigal was that his reported incredible baseball IQ would raise the impact of his other skills. It's not just in the majors where he has had an issue with running into outs. I think it may just be adjusting to game speed, but it isn't something I expected needing to be adjusted. But the real question is position value. The difference in cost between a cost controlled second baseman and FA one has to be the smallest of any position in the game. The whole idea that "getting a 2 WAR player for 7 years is huge value" just seems crazy to me when Jose Iglesias keeps doing what he does for sub $5 mill and very little demand. So if there is a chance of getting an impact player back and the cost is Madrigal, and it means we have to go sign a Kolten Wong, it's hard to see how the white sox would not be much better. And the other side of this, is its really hard to take the pro-madrigal people seriously when the only thing they keep harping on is comparing him to hall of fame players from 50-70 years ago. It shouldn't be that hard, and the recent similar players have had...much less impact.

  40. That’s immensely disappointing but not surprising at all. The fact La Russa is preventing us from getting a young & upcoming pitching coach really sucks. Fuck Reinsdorf.
