If you didn't hate WSD before, his failure to use a "Katz out of the bag" joke here should finally convince you. Absolute incompetence.14 points

When Tony took a stand on kneeling, and then his dopy comment about being the judge on sincerity of the protest, he presented himself as holier than thou. That is BS but tolerable. Now he looks like a joke and every stance and position he had taken previously makes him look more foolish because of his disingenuous attitude. This is why he needs to go, he is simply put, a dick. He will be unable to lead the players and will become a shadow puppet. What makes matters worse is that we all know that Hahn is not behind this move and the team has gone silent. Had there have been good sales pitch and some rationale atonement for previous idiotic remarks I and I think the fans would be ok. When Renteria was fired there was a very clear message sent. Since that day the whole message as circled and went down the drain. Go get Bochy or Alomar and repair this thing. This is old white guy stuff at its finest.8 points

Ah, so it isn't "sox will spend more" with larussa, it's "sox will be desperate for immediate upgrades but not with money so they will trade prospects for short term deals, and then next year they will also not have more budget so they will then be trading for Mike Leake and acting like they are world series contenders" Phew!7 points

Are you fucking kidding me with this bullshit? Do you remember Trump, three years ago, REFUSING TO HELP PUERTO RICO WHEN LIKE 80% OF THE POPULATION HAD NO POWER? How about when he drew a fucking sharpie on a weather map so he could be right about a hurricane path that he was fucking wrong about, only to turn around and blame someone else. Bush declaring brownie was doing a great job when New Orleans was under water and tens of thousands of people were being bussed out and dropped in various locations with a gift card and good bye? Yea it's always a country unifying event when a hurricane rolls through. Hey how about when California is on fucking fire and Trump is refusing to send them critical federal aid because he knows it's a blue state.7 points

Lynn for Grandal. Texas gets better and it looks like they are not going to go full rebuild. Sox can go after Realmuto and Springer with McCann as a backup plan. Definitely don't want to trade Stiever. I am okay with trading Dunning but I think Stiever is the biggest overachiever candidate in the group and i am least worried about him heathwise. Good chance he turns into an MLB #3 or better. I'd almost rather trade Cease but I still dont want to trade Cease. Lets just throw the most money at Bauer (I know it wont happen).6 points

Hire Sam Fuld as bench coach and let him manage the clubhouse. We’re stuck with La Russa as our in-game decision maker for better or worse, but let’s limit his interactions with the actual players and perhaps his risk is reduced.6 points

Here is the connection you aren't making. If Jerry is willing to support his drunken friend over middle class workers trying to make a living, that tells me I made the right decision.5 points

Give Tony a spot at the end of the bench with a clear view to the sky. Hand him an Old Style and let him yell at the clouds.5 points

I broke down and actually sent an email. The taunting of the sox fans with the staying silent and hiding behind not commenting until it plays out as if they are a party in the case is such a slap in the face.5 points

Underneath it all, Dave is just worried about his sources and is perfectly willing to play his roll as a servant boy to Jerry to keep at it. NO surprise there. This reads like Brooks and Scott wrote this for him.4 points

who cares if it's fake or not, it's throwing out names that are players in baseball and we can discuss whether we'd want them, would trade for them, etc. There isn't anything else going on beside our manager risking people's lives. Fake insiders >> TLR.4 points

It's anecdotal Greg, and the actual result after these tragedies shows that your point is largely trash. honestly I'm fucking done with your bullshit and dragging threads down with your pretend aw shucks shit. I will swear all I want because this is, down to its core, bullshit. This country is pitted against each other because of actual fake news, you fall for it hook line and sinker every damn time and then come here asking us all why we disagree. You do zero research, your points are anecdotal at best. im just done with you. I didn't weirdly freak out on you, I told you your point sucked and in fact it is wrong. You've somehow let a Billionaire owner convince you that he has no autonomy, no free will, no choice in this matter. He does. If fans put enough pressure on sponsors, they'll tell him the Larussa is bad for business right now, so they are terminating the deal until he's gone or until a couple of years go by and it all blows over. He then has a choice, a legitimate choice with a glaringly obvious answer - fire larussa or suffer revenue losses. If he CHOOSES to take losses (a stupid, selfish, and irrational choice) and then CHOOSES to fire every other employee except Larussa, that is on HIM, and only him! Your argument is like saying we can't put someone in jail because their innocent family will starve to death if they choose not to work. Your argument is like telling someone who got sucker punched not to fight back or its their fault that they got in a fight. Your argument is exactly the same one billionaires use (and spend millions on amplifying) to paint workers going on strike as the villains. Its bullshit, its bootlicking, and, unless you are a Billionaire yourself, its counterproductive to your own success.3 points

I'm sorry your boss sucks and is putting his personal agenda before the well being of the team and those in its employ? What should I say? That I'll blindly support an owner that is tacitly endorsing his buddy's dangerous and negligent behavior with my own ordinary middle class dollars? I acknowledge your argument and recognize the points you are making, but I'll ask you again, what should we fans do? Do we Just take it? Just keep on keeping on? Just blindly and silently drudge on ashamed of the team we all love?3 points

Let's be honest guys. Most of us here who wrote in to the Sox to call for TLR's termination, did so because he is a terrible fit for the Sox right now and we should have had a younger more modern choice with more current experience. His 2nd DUI might have put us over the top, but that isn't the primary reason for the outrage. With that in mind, the whole contacting the sponsorships thing is a little over the top.3 points

I like Madrigal. More than most I reckon. But if it comes down to trading Madrigal or Vaughn for a controlled piece, I'm sending out Nick in a split second. Vaughn's offensive profile is sorely needed in the White Sox lineup. He just fits so well.3 points

If you can’t get Bauer then I fully agree. Go with the best possible lineup and add two B & C tier starters in free agency. Springer + Kluber + Quintana for example would be fine by me.3 points

I understand the frustration of watching Mazara bat, but idk how they don’t put all their resources into the starting rotation which has three questionable holes to fill.3 points

Stay. He might have only 1 championship, but a 2nd is arriving shortly. He’s fostered a personable, family-like environment where everyone knows everyone top-to-bottom. Former players enjoy it so much they return often. His biggest mistake was 35 years ago, but he‘s humble enough to correct it 35 years later when most billionaires would never admit a mistake. His relationship skills are second to none. I envy his and Tony’s friendship and it’s my goal to build a friendship that special one day. The fairytale ending of a lifetime is coming in an October or two, and will be a huge storyline when Ken Burns films his 2020s documentary.3 points

If we could get to the second tier of starters for a deal, I am in. No Kopech, Dunning, Crochet, or Cease.2 points

The MLB manager role is equivalent to a C-suite level job at a fortune 500 company. Arguably, it's higher profile. How many COO's can you name off the top of your head? The point is, they need to be held to a higher standard and they are in fact a public face of the organization. Their actions are representative of the product you are putting out, and by supporting Larussa, the White Sox are supporting his actions. There are consequences to this support, and it will absolutely impact lower level employees who have no say in this hiring decision. That's a consequence of bad leadership. It is unfortunate for those employees, but this is an everyday situation in the workplace. It is not our responsibility as customers(fans) to look out for those lower level employees, that is the responsibility of the White Sox leadership. They are failing those employees, not us. Our choice as customers(fans) is to continue to give money to that leadership, or not. Let the leadership decide what impact to their organization is acceptable to them. Don't let them off the hook, if you are dissatisfied.2 points

Personally I hate this standard. When someone makes a stand, the question to ask isn't why aren't you doing more. It is what can I do to help. You don't need to live in a cave avoiding all human contact to make a point here.2 points

Yes. There is a reason why I didn’t support the Washington Football Club, why I no longer say the name of the Cleveland Baseball club, and why I won’t ever consider supporting the Cubs under the ownership of the Ricketts. They all have employees. I can find better uses of my money than to support liars and racists, and if the White Sox want to be in that group I have every right to make choices with my time and money and you don’t get to use their employees as a shield for those choices.2 points

What is really terrible about that is even after Biden is sworn in and issues a national mask mandate, this population will still refuse to wear masks. The virus became a political issue because of Trump. Now we're in a situation where only a vaccine will help us get out of this. And what do you want to bet that there will be those who would have followed Trump blindly if a vaccine had been rushed to the public during his tenure will refuse to get the vaccine when it's released in the spring because it'll be under Biden's leadership?2 points

As someone who has gotten one DUI (no one was hurt and I was pulled over for speeding and then arrested with alcohol on my breath), I would like to put my two cents here. I went through two stages of counseling, 6 months of hell financially and legally, and I realized through that process that I needed to reevaluate a lot of things. after doing so, I realized that I couldn’t do things the same way. It wasn’t the first time I had driven under the influence. After a lot of reflection, I ultimately made the decision that alcohol was not something I could make a judgment call of any kind after imbibing, so I have been sober since a few weeks after the event, about 3 and a half years. I feel like I was extraordinarily lucky to make that choice. While I went through my legal process and counseling process, I encountered a lot of individuals who could not make that choice, and were on DUI number 2, 3, 4. Some showed up to court or to class or therapy drunk. I have empathy for people who struggle with alcohol - it is socially accepted and loudly encouraged. Driving under the influence is not only tolerated, it is apologized for. Let me be clear: it’s absolutely unacceptable, and it shouldn’t happen- and we need to address it culturally. We haven’t yet. I’m not saying alcohol is bad at all. It isn’t. It’s simply dangerous. And it inhibits judgement. As an editorial comment, my experience with the process informed me that the system we have has little interest in saving lives. It’s easy to save lives - we require breathalyzers on all vehicles just like you mandate seatbelts. The cost is subsidized by the government. You train the public on how to use them, they do, people complain, but lives are saved. A few people are 15 minutes late to work because they forgot mouthwash is problematic. But - nobody dies. I find that troubling that the system doesn’t make that choice. The system is set up to be a reliable revenue generator. Business is great, by the way - hundreds were in the courtroom every time I was there. Spending thousands of dollars they can’t afford. No mechanism is set up to do anything more than punish them. Most importantly, TLR himself needs to address this problem in his life, because 2 DUIs is a chronic problem. He is in danger of putting his, and other lives, at risk. There are no doubt more instances he got away with. However, nothing will change if he is enabled here. That’s first and foremost. Moreover, the White Sox deserve more from the manager of a storied franchise. We deserve a first class manager who can give his full attention to one of 30 professional organizations at the very highest level in the world. TLR had a great career, but this is an unacceptable set of circumstances for the incoming manager of the White Sox. While dealing with the legal fallout from this, he will be distracted. While the media frenzies about this, the organization will be distracted. The players will have to now tolerate an utter circus while trying to focus on championship baseball - in a pandemic - and they will be distracted. We don’t have the luxury with the window we have to deal with this. my two cents.2 points
