I'd kill for the Sox to have the run that the Cubs have had the last 6 years. 5 of 6 years in the playoffs, 3 straight NLCS's and a World Series? Woo buddy, sign me the fuck up! Look, everyone wants the Sox to be the Dodgers but that just isn't going to happen under current ownership. If you really wouldn't take what the Cubs have had the last 6 years then you really need to temper expectations.10 points

Honestly his twitter personality is less annoying than his board run. He was game thread cringe. His twitter stuff is just trying to be a worldwidewob for the white sox, it's aggregation. That stuff gets followers, not shocked he's built it up. Good for him, etc.5 points

Because the spectrum of US politics shifted far enough right for you to be comfortable calling yourself in the Center. It's not that Centrists believe in nothing, it's that the "Center" doesn't exist.4 points

You guys, and many others, are so mean to chisoxfanmike. He seems like a decent kid. He definitely has a bit on Twitter and isn’t exactly my cup of tea, but the hate he gets directed towards him isn’t really fair. At least from my vantage point. Let him be.4 points

I guess my point is that I don't want to be that "really solid team" that gets there every year but isn't really good enough to beat a super team. I want to be that super team. Do you really think Darvish gives us a better chance to win WS in 2022-23-24-25 than Cease-Kopech-Crochett fulfilling their promise? He sure gives us a better chance of winning in 2021but I don't think we are ready to beat the Dodgers in 2021. The core of the White Sox...Madrigal, Moncada, Robert, Eloy, Vaughan, Gio, Kopech, Crochett, Cease, Dunning, Foster, Heuer are 26 or younger...not even in their prime years yet...why are we pushing all chips in at this point? Seems like we have a much better idea a year from now how to hit the gas...and our young assets will be better defined.4 points

This is going to be an interesting off-season for a lot of reasons, but this off-season is almost the perfect storm in regards to being terrible for free agents. The CBA is set to expire as is, and COVID is still going to be running into next season. The players have less leverage than they have ever had. I have been thinking about all the things going against free agents this off-season and I think it could be even slower of an off-season than we've had the past couple of seasons. 1. Owners have significant uncertainty heading into next season with COVID still ravaging. Many teams took on substantial losses and will use that as an excuse to not invest at all. The fact that there are even rumblings that a player of Kris Bryant's quality could be non-tendered (he won't be) truly exemplifies the difficulties players face this off-season. Many teams are cutting wages. 2. The CBA is looming and there could be a stoppage. Owners pairing that concern with COVID may get ultra tight with the pocket book. The CBA has a lot to work out, and free agents are better off - probably - trying to extend their FA out a year or two by signing shorter deals. 3. Typically players who wait out the market don't lose any earnings and usually get what they want; this off-season I think we are going to see a flood of early lower signings on 1-2 year deals, but the players looking to get paid are going to be sitting out there for a long time... and unlike years past, if COVID gets worse, and ballparks are looking at closings again and the CBA negotiations go poorly you could see something like 75% of teams sitting out FA almost entirely. This would make me optimistic as a White Sox fan but Reinsdorf very rarely breaks rank and file and if other owners are claiming poor and non-tendering quality players I worry he won't spend. This might be the worst year to be a FA imaginable. People that think Springer signs early; I hope you're right. Springer signing early would be a good sign that the market won't be dead for the entire off-season, but I think we get a bunch of shorter contracts signed relatively quickly - as midlevel to low level guys jump out at offers - and the bigger players are either short-terming their way to high AAV, or they are sitting out there maybe past February.2 points

I know what I see. If it's lessened the past two weeks, then I'm very happy. I watched it nightly all summer into the fall into the winter. If it's now subsiding, good. But I will not back down on my summer/fall/early winter hobby of nightly watching the streamers in Portland. Just Saturday two guys were online harassing the Antifa in the street. I can send you the link. It was pretty funny. It was LAST WEEKEND. If you want the links I watch I'll PM them to you.2 points

That's the whole thing though, what constitutes "each side" depends on both time and place. The Democratic Party would be a center-right party in a whole lot of the rest of the world today. Their economic positions today would have been center-right from roughly the 30's-70's in this country. There's no inherent virtue in picking a compromise position between the US's two dominate parties simply because it's between them. e: there's nothing inherently good about being 100% in line with either particular party either, of course.2 points

Huh? The guy i tweeted was being critical of the guy and attacking him. I was literally defending the guy. I pointed out that I think he was reading things about Mike wrong and that Mike is just a passionate kid who I think suffers from a disorder/disability or whatever you want to call it. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.2 points

What? I wasnt making fun of the kid at all. I was actually saying people should stop being a dick head to him as I think he suffers from a disability. Seems like a nice enough kid.2 points

yep. Same. The thing I take away from the dodgers is to only make a trade if it's for a big upgrade, but the REAL takeaway for me between Cubs and Dodgers is that you cannot stop drafting well even if your team is largely made up of young players. But what cannot be recreated by the sox is having a fairly "conservative" 200 million payroll made up of 35 MLB caliber players and being creative with DL and other tricks to use all of them. They hacked the regular season to make sure they are always in the playoffs. Cubs post-mortem, for me I think they got a little bit unlucky. Had they gotten Darvish and Heywards 2019/20 production in 2017 and 2018, they likely make the WS again. But they became productive when their young core started to have some unfortunate injuries and they had maxed out improvements. They made some big mistakes but not sure they should have been as crippling as they were had it not been for some unfortunate declines during prime years.2 points

I think he's referring to Ray saying the following "I'm like 90% sure chisoxmike is some kind of autistic or learning disabled kid who loves the white sox." Don't think he's referring to you.2 points

40-man catchers are needed every year. I am rooting for Jake, but also realize that there are a lot of interesting players every year available in rule 5 and only a handful are taken. He won't be protected, and come december he will still be a white sox.2 points

I'm not saying all were gained that way. Dude gets a lot of interaction out there and is popular, so it's easy in that regard to see why it keeps growing. To me, there are interesting points in the data over the last couple years that jump out (compared to other popular Sox accts of the same ilk), so I'll leave it at that. If I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the first time and I apologize. Back to Springer discussion (or lack thereof) for me.2 points

I mean, that's long been the rumor out there. And the more I think about it, the more it makes sense and I believe it. Dude just steals content left and right from other people and posts it as his own. Jabroni.2 points

What I don't want is to be the Cubs...one WS and a real good half decade and then standing again on the precipice . I want this team to be a juggernaut and part of that is not trading away key positional pieces before the soufflé has risen. The fun part of the White Sox right now is people saying "Eloy might be the best hitter on the team" and I think...well...yes but Robert might be...or Moncada or Vaughan...I mean those are four hitters that could be the greatest hitters the White Sox have had in our lifetimes (Excluding Frank Thomas who was an alien). And that doesn't even count Tim Anderson...who in his last 172 games has hit .333 with 28 homers, 43 doubles and stole 22 bases...at SS...or the rookie 2b that hit .341, or the reigning MVP...or the second best catcher in baseball. Plus...we have a DOZEN very exciting starting pitchers that are 26 or younger. Stiever was our top 5 prospect...came in his first ML game and looked amazing and we were all excited...then he got shelled the next game and we never talk about him again???? I say sign Springer who will make our offense and defense elite. Sign Quintana for cheap and then let Cease and Kopeck and Dunning and Stiever and Crochett and Lambert and Lopez and Kelly and Dahlquist and Thompson with the new hot shot pitching coach fill in four and five. There's a very real possibility that three of those 10 will be better than Darvish or Woodruff by 2022...and we are set to be the 1970 Cincinnati Reds.2 points

Jocketty’s also not surprised to see La Russa managing at age 76, since he’s been hearing about his desire to jump back in for the last few years. “He’s really had the energy and ambition to get back to managing because he sees things he doesn’t like in the way the game is played some times, and he’d like to have some opportunity to show how he did it, obviously with some adjustments,” Jocketty said. “He was definitely fired up for this and he’s got the energy and the drive to take this thing as far as he can take it.” Oh FFS!1 point

Not really to be honest haha. And they have Zavala, Rodon, Mazara, Ruiz they could cut...take your pick.1 point
-
I think they try to trade Adolfo to be honest. I think he has one option left that will be used in 2021, but he’ll basically be in the Basabe situation before you know it. Obviously depends if they can get value for him, which admittedly may be a challenge with how much time he’s missed and not being exposed to external scouts.1 point

Not a whole lot of fat after those three. Vargas, Zavala, Mercedes and Gonzalez probably the next 4. Maybe Rutherford.1 point

Non-tendering Rodon & Mazara will get us down to 38 with Ruiz probably next on the chopping list.1 point

Honestly wouldn't care if he didn't like me. Plenty of people on the internet who don't and I'm an idiot who gives people reason to feel that way by my rhetoric online sometimes. I def think it's unfair unless you've met me in person, but it is what it is. That said the whole tired act of "barstool is racist and sexist" is so goddamn stupid. Ask the many people of color or our CEO, CMO and CFO if they think barstool is racist or sexist. Then on the flip side, google some of the horror stories of shit that has gone on ESPN. Nobody says a peep about them being racist or homophobic It just annoys me to no end. Fuck off1 point
