I wouldn't trade Kopech for Snell straight up. We'd be regretting this trade big time in less than a year.7 points

You are correct. 27 year old non prospect no glove right hand hitting DH's *ARE* undervalued in today's MLB. You've discovered the new market inefficiency. Be proud.6 points

Andrew Vaughn and Michael Kopech are two of the top 25 prospects in baseball. There's no chance in hell that the Rays land both of them for Snell. The dude threw 100 innings in 2019 and 50 in 2020. I wouldn't even headline a package with 1 of them and I understand how awesome Snell is. When your owner is Jerry Reinsdorf and you don't consistently play at the top of the free agent market, you can't trade close to big league ready potential stars. It just doesn't make sense. I'd make a quantity deal with Cease, Dunning, Madrigal etc and if that isn't enough, just trade for Lynn or Musgrove instead. Kopech and Vaughn are too important IMO. I doubt the Rays get 1 prospect ranked as highly as either of Kopech or Vaughn. The problem is the Sox don't have enough guys in that 30-100 overall range prospect wise.6 points

I think the White Sox would be selling at his lowest value point ever which is why I think it's unlikely. Their development people are thrilled with how he looks. I'd be really surprised if they moved him right now.4 points

This is the same kind of baseless rumor that used to be leveled against the East German Olympic track and swimming teams. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.3 points

1) The white sox do not give the biggest offers. Especially to a premium talent that over half the league would love to acquire. 2) The White Sox organization would very likely be near the bottom of Bauers wish list.3 points

Arozerana is the one being charged in a federal court, not the mother or the grandfather. If the mother has custody, which she does according to news reports, any action he takes would have to be done in the courts. It would be irrelevant to the question of whether he committed assault or abducted a child. Everything I posted above are facts as reported by Yucatán ahora. He is being charged with those charges that i listed.2 points

The fact that you know MLB is catching players, meaning you know they are testing and that it's working, and that hasn't affected your hypothesis that Nelson Cruz is on steroids at all is almost a textbook example of bad logic.2 points

Lynn and Gallo aren’t good enough or controlled for long enough for me to take on an expensive contract for a bum like Andrus.2 points

Keep them coming Maloney.... You're the only reason we have stuff to talk about. Ignore the haterzz2 points

I appreciate pulling the relevant stuff but, yeah, no need to pull the whole feed in. People can follow them for that.2 points

Its a simple thing. Spend the fucking money. Unless JR thinks that Osiris is going to allow him to take his wealth into the afterlife spend the fucking money. I dont want to hear how X person is too much money or my god how can they afford it. Spend the money. There is zero reason that this is not the place whomever you want can land. No more tricks, no more deferred deals that are less but in your eyes are more. Just put cash up and get your man. Get Springer and get Bauer. Use the plethora of golden arms as either bullpen pieces this year or trade chits for other things. Its time to compete.2 points

I honestly don't get why we would trade 2-3 top prospects for Snell IF (big IF) you could get Marquez and his control through 2024 if you give some decent prospects along with Madrigal and take on Blackmon's contract. You are getting a left RF bat that hits much better than Mazara and a TOR starter for about $30 million per. Keep big prospects. You could do worse than Blackmon as a platoon even. I don't get giving up the barn for a pitcher or paying Springer $25 million per and then bargain basement shopping for SP.2 points

This. This this. This. We’re trying to build a juggernaut not a 2-3 yr window2 points

I'd pass on any of these type of deals. I'm not big on a Marquez or Snell trade to be completely honest. It'd be a very Sox move ... we have no holes to fill outside of SP and RF. We have enforcements on the way for the holes we have with Vaughn, Kopech, a full year of Dunning, possibly Crochet, etc. Why trade depth when you see what happens in a long season to teams? Keep your depth and actually open that wallet and sign Bauer or a top SP for once and be done with it. If you don't spend now, then never spend. To me if you're going to acquire a guy via trade you don't go after a Snell, you go after a Musgrove - less cost both in terms of money and prospects. Snell is good, not great.2 points

The only reason i would consider trading Vaughn is because Yermin can likely provide much of what Vaughn would bring to the table.2 points

I would like to have Colome back. He has done everything possible to gain my trust. Man has balls!2 points
-
You absolutely do this if Colome can be had for that cheap. He may not overpower you, but he's got stones and a closers mentality. With him being a primary cutter pitcher, does he remind anyone of a Mariano Rivera Ultra Light? Or Light? I am 100% okay with that kind of production.2 points

Good because he still has our highest ceiling out of our entire staff (Giolito included)2 points

All I can say, Greg, it is amazing how many people think Trump won this election, but think the virus is a hoax.2 points

Would be sweet if Rays were super into Yermin Mercedes, take a trade we all are ecstatic about, then it turns out yermin is babe Ruth down there and torments the yerMEN on the board for eternity.2 points

would you care to place a wager there was destruction in portland as most recently as last weekend? The "imaginary" riots could win me some cold hard cash. Also are you saying there were not riots more than 100 consecutive nights?2 points

Why are we trading assets for a RF? Sign a free agent to address our OF needs and trade for a high end pitcher where the free agent market is actually weak.2 points

So just for the record, Snell has thrown 7 or more innings one time since the beginning of the 2019 season. And that was in April 2019. Some of that is the Rays, but some is elevated pitch counts. He has made 30 starts exactly one time in his career. I know wins don't matter, but he has won 7 or more games 1 time in his career. That speaks of his inability to go deep into games to me. He has pitched more than 130 innings once in his career. He has struck out more than 150 once. He has had a WHIP beneath 1.2 once. The year he won the Cy Young, his ERA was more than a run lower than his FIP. He had one magnificent season, and has been a good pitcher otherwise. He isn't the guy Sale was when the Sox traded him, he isn't even close, and no one should make that mistake. Honestly, at what the price would likely be, I'm going to pass. And not only because trading with the Rays is horrifying.2 points

My ideal is adding on top of our immediate young core - not balancing. When I throw out Vaughn I’m just trying to be realistic on what TAmpa would actually want and what it would take. The ideal trade for Sox is a greinke/verlander deal of past where they are still very good but on the side of their deal where their team couldn’t build around them anymore. Thats why this offseason for pitching In good with quality depth and biding our time until one becomes available. edit: I should add that this is what Darvish is to me and why he’s my favorite of the trades, followed by Lynn then musgrove.1 point

In this market, there is zero excuse for not bringing in a quality reliever in on a short-term deal.1 point

Kopech and Vaughn are top 25 prospects in the sport. Vaughn will be a top 10 prospect at some publications and he plays 1B. The White Sox shouldn't be trading guys like that. Spend some of the cheapskate owner's money instead.1 point
-
But they don’t need a 2B. They likely want a catcher in any deal. Vaughn is actually someone they could really use.1 point

This would be great news and news that would also bum me out. I'd be thrilled to get Springer and also bummed because then Bauer is definitely out and I consider Bauer a lot more important than Springer. If Springer adds $25M a year to the payroll how do we fill the starting pitching holes ? Is the payroll going up $25M this year ? Springer estimate +$25M 1 or 2 starting pitcher estimate + $10M to $25M Bullpen estimate +8 M EE, GG , Mazara Rodon gone -$25M Equals +$18M to $33M increase in payroll.1 point

i am guessing only, but I think we will still have Pioneer League baseball here next season. However, if they cut it is 2022 i think these teams should sue and the cities where they are located should sue MLB. Some of these communities have spent taxpayer money to build new ballparks to meet MLB requirements and now get stuck with no baseball teams. I just think this is a slap in the face to baseball fans that enjoy and support the game.1 point
