  1. I’ll excuse myself. But I’ll leave it up there to showcase my stupidity.

  2. There's an elite level SP out there that would cost you not a single one of your prized prospects, Bauer. Time to play with the big boys and hang out a 9 figure contract for once. Enough with this nonsense.

  3. Jack, you constantly told us there would be no baseball in 2020. In fact, you said baseball was done until 2023. Forgive me if I dont share your negative outlook on the world.

  4. I don't think its relevant. A team doesn't stop acquiring prospects because it has a major league player.

  5. If that is true, then offer another year, a little more money, 5th year option with like a $5mill buyout to increase guaranteed money, etc.

  6. Never look at professional stats from a college player's draft year. They're meaningless. Vaughn is the best 1B prospect in baseball and deserves the billing. Plus power, plus hit and will be a big OBP guy. Elite level aptitude at the plate, exit velocity numbers as well. Paul Konerko is a much better comp for Vaughn. Dude is going to mash.

  7. Rosario doesn't suck. He's a pretty good hitter - but he doesn't walk much at all. He does hit from the left side which is a benefit. I watch a lot of Twins baseball (I live in MN), and watch pretty much every game when the Sox aren't on. He is a VERY bad defender. Eloy level bad. He is not a RF. Sign Springer, move Eloy to DH, sign Rosario to play LF and trade Vaughn for elite SP could be a route, but short of moving Vaughn and shifting Eloy to DH, there is no role for Rosario on this team - just like Ozuna would not a fit either. This isn't THAT hard to understand.

  8. You have a better chance of winning a title by being real good for 10 years than you do being great for 2.

  9. Exactly. This is a Sale-like return. If I trade Vaughn AND Kopech (and I don't want to), PLUS MORE, I better be getting a DeGrom caliber pitcher in return.

  10. I mean that’s partly true. I know they’ve offered Springer. I have no idea whether they get him. If they don’t though, they’ll be spending in the next tier because there really isn’t a first tier at that point.

  11. That’s why he’s finally gone though. Just got to hope Katz can still save Cease.

  12. Tell him to let the owner know this is the strategy.

  13. Because he doesn’t think he can be a good defensive DH

  15. Even Viciedo was a reasonably talented player. He just couldn't ever quite put it all together. But the tools were definitely there.

  16. What is your reasoning as to why he's not a 30 home run guy? What is the skepticism based on?

  17. LETS TRADE IT ALL! EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN BUILDING FOR 5+ YEARS! ALL CHIPS IN NOW! 2021 WORLD SERIES OR BUST!
    3 points
  18. Why is this even a question? Vaughn may be the best hitter in the organization.

  19. I think they let him have a full minor league season.

  21. To compete for a championship they need to add high end guys to put them over the top. Just getting bodies in here that are better than Mazara is not good enough. Just getting rando pitchers to take a spot in the rotation is not good enough.

  22. Please. This is a second DUI, with no indication of any change of personality or contriteness taking place. There is ZERO reason to actually believe that Tony is anything but the way he is being described. He is a 76 year old man getting his second DUI. He doesn't deserve any sort of a benefit of the doubt. Finally, sorry to hurt your feelings here, but as you so eloquently said before, get over it.

  23. You are chasing people around telling them to get over it, and don't realize the irony here. Let me help you. F Tony Larussa. Get over it.

  24. Not gonna lie. I have no idea who or what an Avery Weems is.

  25. We need to preserve the Lee comp for when our big baby boy Ben Bailey gets here.

  26. They turned him into a pro player. That is always a win when you are dealing with 18 year old signings.

  27. Sorry, this is nonsense. He played a very good 1B through college. He'll be a plus defender at 1B in time. You seeing a couple of bad spring training plays doesn't mean anything. And please produce the reports of him maxing out as a 20 homerun guy. It seems you have an irrational hate for Vaughn.

  28. This. This. This. It's crazy to empty the farm when there is a guy out there in Bauer that fills EXACTLY what we need.

  29. The fact that he's skeptical/negative about everything?

  30. A lowlight reel of any player is a bad indicator of their skillset, just as I could post videos of Mike Trout missing a catch or striking out to make him look like a bad fielder or hitter. Advanced metrics show that he's an average defender in left with a strong arm, and most of the negatives came from 2019 where he was playing with a bad ankle, he was able to rebound in 2020. At the risk making it sound like I'm Rosario's agent, I think he's #2 best option after Springer at RF. Pederson is a more well rounded player if he puts it together, but there's too much boom or bust risk, and he's more of a platoon than Rosario. If signing Rosario to a reasonable short term deal would allow the Sox to go after Bauer, or a Kluber/Quintana combo with two closer quality RPs without dealing from the farm, then I am all for it.

  31. This is a great way to turn a potential 4-6 year window of contention into a 2-3 year window.

  32. That's another possibility, good point. Also, even though this wasn't your point, I just wanted to clarify that I have doubts he's close to ready to be an MLB starter, not that it's specifically about RF.

  33. The first three lines put you on an island completely by yourself.

  34. Move Eloy to DH to make room for an equally bad defensive LFer who is a worse hitter, while likely keeping a better hitter in the minors for a year. Sign me up.

  35. The lesson of the 2000s white sox is also that you can't stop drafting and being a player in INTL and sustain success.

  37. There has seemed to be a lot of hints that he could be a White Sox hire in the backgrounds of his instagram posts, such as this one https://www.instagram.com/p/CHbTI74AkqL/?igshid=24fx3bgb21mv

  38. ...but the question was backward-looking, not forward looking. The original post said, even in retrospect, he'd take the sustained success with no titles over sporadic success with a ring.

  39. No way for me - flags fly forever. I take no joy looking back on seasons where my team got close but lost. I can summon pure joy from memories of the 2005 title run now and for the rest of my life. Now if we're talking about approaches going forward, I totally agree that sustained success is the way to go, rather than cashing in all chips for a short window. But that's because I think it's the best way to maximize the chance for a ring.

  40. I think the issue may be that it's f***ing crazy, with all due respect. I'm not worried about how big of a question mark Tampa thinks Kopech is. This would be a massive overpay.

  41. Man, Sox Twitter is full of arguments this week in response to that graphic from MLBtv suggesting Vaughn + Kopech + Stiever (yes, that's our #1 hitting prospect, #1 pitching prospect, PLUS another MLB-ready arm) for Snell...with the majority seeming to like it! Makes me happy to spend my time here with you folks.

  43. You are wrong. I am more conservative. I had come to accept this hire, did Not like it but accepted it. I would want to get rid of ANY coach for a 2nd dui. If I have to explain to you why getting a 2nd dui is very very wrong you will never understand. And no I have never driven drunk or buzzed even so you can’t tell me everybody does. The guy is clearly not sorry if this is his 2nd time being CAUGHT. So yes I absolutely believe they should fire him.

  44. You can play with numbers from any states, especially the swing states, and see how Biden won. If PA and MI had gone to Trump along with say GA, Trump would have won. But in that case you're talking about 250,000+ votes. I get what the author of the tweet is saying, though. The electoral college is ridiculous and needs to be abolished.

  45. Generally I would rather have Rosario.... but on our team, based on our OF defense.... Joc + Engel is better IMO. I would rather overpay for Joc as a platoon player than have Rosario and watch him and Eloy force Robert to make up for them. Increases injury opportunities.

  46. Given the premium price for top pitchers, I would think outside the box a little and see how much trade value Keuchel has provided that a younger pitcher comes back in a trade. Something like Keuchel plus Reylo plus Collins for either Snell or Plesac. I think Keuchel started to regress a little last season.

  47. If we don't get Springer or Joc because all the money was spent on Bauer...I'm happy with Adam.

  48. It would bei stupid to Bring up vaughn immediately because unless he signs an extension because then you could just as well have brought him up last September for the playoffs instead of EE. I doubt vaughn has improved much between September and next spring so there is really no argument to think he is ready in April but wasn't in September.
