Wheeler let his girlfriend dictate where he landed. He turned down an extra 7m to go to the destination of her choice. The guy is clearly a low testosterone cuck, and I don't want him.11 points

Pretty sure we made fun of you for making excuses for the coaching staff.8 points

Wheeler having to explain to his wife that he was traded to the Sox would be amazing after what happened last offseason. Lol6 points

Erik Johnson? You're the # 1 piece the Sox traded for James Shields. Lucky for us, you never amounted to much in the MLB. Good trade.5 points

So we are at the Ted Williams' frozen penis point of the offseason I see. We need a rumor.5 points

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30462167/sources-philadelphia-phillies-open-trade-offers-right-hander-zack-wheeler Just feels like a bunch of teams, knowing FA for pitchers is weak, seeing if they can get a haul. Having to pay talent AND wheelers contract really makes it less attractive to me5 points

Your lack of self-awareness is almost Trumpian. Telling someone to stop acting passive aggressive (who really isn't) while you are being passive aggressive.4 points

The Sox should just take on Wheeler’s whole contract and not have to give up Dunning.4 points

The best part is trading two free agents we signed just last offseason who both produced and helped lead us to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and then thinking that Realmuto is actually going to sign with us.4 points

Joc Pederson has been a White Sox target for years. The front office has spoken to his representation and he could finally play on the south side this year. I wrote about it at Southside Sox: https://www.southsidesox.com/2020/12/6/22155960/white-sox-joc-pederson-a-sensible-fit-joc-in-white-sox3 points

Cmon man why do you have to bash James like that? I think maybe it’s good idea for you to take a break from Soxtalk for a couple days to cool the jets.3 points

Hi I am Coach Pagano. I have inherited a defense that was one of the best in the league. Put my spin on something that a child could of managed and turned it into dogshit. Now people have figured out how to scheme against me and I have no idea what to do. So we will just keep doing what we have been doing and hope for the best.3 points

I'm often the voice of reason here. Emotions just ride so high, that people are blinded and don't see it. I need to step in and put the normal folk, and even mods (SS2K5 and Kyle mostly), in line on occasion.3 points

I'd move Dunning in the right deal but I would try to trade Kopech or Cease first. I'd like to hang on to the guy that doesn't need to make any adjustments.3 points

Eff Wheeler. We offered him an extra 7 million and he turned us down so that his wi.... girlfriend could be closer to her sister.. Let him get traded to the Angels to really piss her off.3 points
-
Exactly. No interest in giving up Kuechel and Grandal. And to be honest with our lineup and today’s financial situation in MLB, I’m not sure I’d want Harper. It’s a no all the way around.3 points
-
The Phillies are trying to shed salary, why would they want Grandal and Keuchel?3 points
-
Okay so this: Harper + Wheeler for Grandal + Keuchel + Cease + Heuer + Adolfo Sign Realmuto This is retribution for those fuckwads who threw shit at Stacey King and Neil Funk in the playoffs that one year ... actually for proper retribution we should make that deal while holding out Cease and Heuer3 points

The Dodgers also did not want 2 of the 3 AL Cy Young finalists this year.3 points

So I guess we're not getting springer lol. This team is a joke honestly. Never play in the big kids pool. Sox have two real holes and they're gonna plug them with bargain deals. Its embarrassing sox fans are excited or ok with this. Jimmy been telling us the Sox been in on springer. Now selling us on joc. Lol3 points

They signed him as a FA after he played with the Astros. They obviously got over it. Maybe you should too.3 points

I mean, if we trade someone away, it seems almost certain to come back and hurt us, that's just our record. That said, this is a fair deal concept for both sides, and it fills a need for both. So yeah, I'd hate doing it, and the downside is obvious, but we have to do something to add pitching and doing so without giving up the big guns is the key. Apparently based on this year, the trick is the Rangers need to accept fair value for Lynn rather than a king's ransom for a guy with 1 year of control remaining and a non-trivial contract. If they're willing to accept a fair deal, that's a fair deal.3 points

They're not signing bauer, you guys have lost your mind. If they wont pay for the position player they wont pay for a sp.2 points

I think Dunning could surprise a la Jose Quintana. Nobody believed Q was a #2 until he was.2 points

That's a good way to shorten our window dramatically and increase the chance we'll see a "what went wrong" article about the Sox in a couple years.2 points
-
Honestly, agreed. What kind of wimp let's his girlfriend (not even wife) dictate his living location while taking 7m less in a deal? The guy has no backbone.2 points
-
If they add Wheeler, I don't think you add Q. Sox can hedge their bets on Kopech/Dunning/Cease for the 4 and 5 spots.2 points
-
Because he hates Grandal and every trade proposal must include his exit.2 points

I believe the gap in production between a Joc/Engel platoon and Springer is smaller than the gap in cost. I would love Springer, but I wouldn’t mind a Joc/Engel platoon that gives us a .900 OPS in RF for much less money and also allows us flexibility to go after a top end starter at the trade deadline or next offseason.2 points
-
I totally agree on signing Pederson. Of the FA outfielders behind Springer, he's one of the few who isn't a defensive liability. With Jimenez likely stuck in left as long as Abreu and Vaughn are here, we can't afford a second defensive liability in the OF. Robert can only cover so much. Pederson also shouldn't break the bank, which should be spent on resigning Alex Colome and going after Trevor Bauer. Sign those 3, Sox, please!2 points
-
He is a great fit and I like it because Engel doesn't get exposed either. I wonder if Joc would be DH until Vaughn joins the club as well. If you can get a great starter this is really the way to go. Nice write up.2 points

Great stuff. I’ve been on the Joc bandwagon for quite some time due to that 138 wRC+ against RHP across the 2018 & 2019 seasons. While it would be great to have a guy like Springer who can play everyday, there is real value in adding a guy like Joc on the cheap to serve as the strong side of a RF platoon. Do you have any sense of what it might take? For whatever reason 2/$20M is the figure I’ve got in my head.2 points
-
It's not. The problem is just the White Sox system. They won't trade Vaughn, Kopech and Crochet for anyone and the rest of the system was hurt severely from playing no games of consequence. I think they're in a tough spot trade wise2 points

Wow, that’s a crazy ask. I wouldn’t even give up Cease or Dunning straight up for Lynn.2 points

The White Sox would do this rather quickly I feel like. Texas has been asking for Vaughn up to this point.2 points

Everyone keeps saying the pitchers love McCann. That’s cool and all but I want to point out that Keuchel literally said that one of the reasons he signed here was to pitch to Grandal.2 points
