  1. You are our new insider. You will be treated like a god until you deliver news we don’t want to hear.

  2. It fills “postseason starter you don’t need to warm up someone once game starts”’ role

  3. One minute the team is talking about World Series or bust, the next they aren't interested in the players most apt to get them there. In my world, that is what is bizarre.

  6. The failure is artificially limiting what your team is capable of to shame the other owners into not giving out contracts the owner thinks are unseemly.

  7. By this time next year, we have a better chance of hoping to open Sox World Champions gear on Christmas morning than we did 40 minutes ago. that’s the window we’re in now, not some pray the 26 year old nobody turns into the second coming window.

  8. Opened this thread excited something might be happening, instead I see a Not Steve Cishek tweet. My goodness. I'm fine with these guys wrong and pointless tweets starting discussions in other threads if people like it, but starting a thread based on their intel just feels like a bit much.

  9. Tatis Jr was not a top prospect when he was traded. He was a lotto ticket that hit big

  10. What on earth am I reading here. This is Dane Dunning ffs. Hahn turned Jose Quintana into Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease. Am I in the twilight zone?

  11. Lance lynn has thrown 54 post season innings and has a 4.8 ERA, and a 1.6 WHIP. A true post season stopper.

  14. The Dick Allen/Richie Allen thing always confused me as a kid. I started watching baseball in the late 70s, and for the longest time I wasn’t sure if it was two different players they were referring to. I wish they’d make the 72 uniforms the Sunday alternate this year in his honor. I’m tired of the ‘83 unis.

  15. I saw enough last year from both to put Crochet 3rd and feel comfortable with it.

  16. I think the worst thing they can do is sign 2nd and 3rd tier spot-patch pieces **and** make trades giving up stud prospects. E.g.: trade Cease in a deal for Musgrove, Stiever/Dunning in a deal for Lynn, sign a stop-gap RF, sign a RP. Then they deplete the farm and spend their money while similarly failing to acquire any marquee player, and failing to provide any real long-term solution to any hole. I'm thinking that's probably what they are going to do. Because Sox.

  17. Good, because you are getting a PS3, and will be expected to be excited about it.

  18. Yup, this is my entire point. This team spent no money for YEARS under the guise that they were going to spend when the time came to supplement their core. They said such over and over. They made money hand over foot without investing in a quality product for years. Now that time is here and we're talking about signing the same shit level players we've been signing for years. I will never stick through another rebuild with this organization for as long as Jerry owns the team. The point of that horrible product we were asked to watch for years was that in the end, it would be worth it and they would invest in the product. They were full of shit.

  20. Sox fans will NEVER change. 1. For all the reasons talked about ad nauseam already, the Sox were not going to be players for Springer or Bauer. Would it have been great? Sure, but so would have Harper, Cole, Machado, the list goes on. It's not how the Sox do business, never have. Deal with it or move on. 2. More importantly......The Sox don't need to make a splash. We've become so used to winning the offseason and being trash by July. The foundation is finally in place. The Sox are going to win the World Series with Giolito-Robert-Moncada-Eloy-Grandal-Timmy leading the way. This is the core. Right now they need to add depth to bring this thing to the finish line. Using a guy like Dane Dunning is how you do that.

  21. So for the record, this is a Tony deal and not a KW deal or a Hahn deal?

  22. Wow. Some of the takes in this thread are just unreal. Dane Dunning flashed potential. So what? Lance Lynn is a bonafide ace who can throw 120 pitches every start. He’s the exact type of horse you bring in when you want to win a World Series. my only regret is they didn’t make this trade a few months ago because we’d have beaten the A’s.

  24. I’m serious. Phil wrote an article about the Sox landing Snell. Then Al’s beef started posting about it. They don’t follow each other. Nor does Phil follow the Jacob Larson guy. They also are active at the same times. It’s a theory I have. If you go through replies from Al’s beef, the response that Phil had is very similar to how Beef responds to people.

  34. Jerry Reinsdorf is going to waste the talent of this great young core isn’t he? Because he’s going to be a cheap prick.

  35. Something important for us to remember despite Hahns overtures is the white Sox are still very much the white Sox. The great news is there is still a lot of ways to make this team great next year as it’s foundation is incredibly strong.

  37. This makes no sense. His primary worth on offense is standing like a statute and drawing walks, secondary is for the times he does swing he connects enough times to hit home runs. He is third on the team in OBP, and fourth in OPS. Second makes most sense, to allow others to knock him in. If he bats 5th or 6th, his walks don't score nearly enough. Proposed lineup / Career OPS (R) Anderson .751 (L) Grandal .793 (R) Abreu .870 (R) Jimenez .848 (L) Moncada .783 (R) Robert .738 TBD RF/DH TBD RF/DH (R) Madrigal .745

  41. So that means he's going sign with the Cardinals? What? So he can not be with his brother, but have the same affiliation? I didn't know we were selling Reach toothbrushes on soxtalk.

  45. The first report from a national writer on the White Sox off-season is "they're not in on this player because he's a high tier talent in FA" and you don't understand how that is frustrating to fans who have watched this episode play on repeat for 40 years?

  48. I feel like we’ll be signing a B tier OF sometime this week and this story is just our front office reestablishing expectations with the fanbase. That being said, saying Jerry Reinsdorf doesn’t “pay nine figures for anyone” in the year 2020 is one of the most pathetic statements I have heard in regard to a sports owner in my lifetime as a fan. A $100M contract is nothing crazy in this day and age and acting like it is fucking ridiculous.

  49. We offered Machado a 9 digit offer in 2019 and Wheeler a 9 digit offer last year.

  50. Yeah, we're discussing whether it's right or wrong to separate children from their parents and then lock them in cages, to camp outside a secretary of state's home with rifles demanding an election be overturned, to say it's okay for a cop to kneel on the neck of a black person for 9 minutes... Remember when the discussions around politics were about gun control, the death penalty, foreign affairs, reproductive rights, etc.? Because of Trump and the GOP's encouragement of him, it seems their policies are: unless you are an unborn child we don't care about you and if you look different than me I hate and fear you.
