I’m sorry but I don’t have an hour to read this. I read the first line and I assure you, Hendriks would be a great get.10 points

I was on a cruise a few years back and a college-aged kid near the pool made the really poor life decision to try and shotgun one of those giant 25oz cans of Fosters. He made a big deal about it, got the crowd pumped, tons of people cheering or jeering him. I'll give him a bit of credit - he gave it a real shot. Probably made it about 2/3 of the way through, though perhaps that was just momentum carrying him over the edge of the cliff a la Wile E. Coyote. Regardless, suddenly he throws down the can and sprints across half the deck for the bathroom. If you have ever been on a cruise, you will know that doors (especially external doors) are often actually bulkheads - they have a 3-6 inch metal lip around the entire thing. Well, he apparently forgot or didn't notice this (he did have some pressing concerns that may have been distracting him), because he slams his foot on the bulkhead as he is sprinting into the bathroom. He does a gorgeous faceplant at full speed into the tile, then proceeds to vomit up about 17 oz of mostly undigested fosters (as well as who knows how many oz of other drinks) all over himself and the bathroom. He lost his lunch, his dignity, and, most importantly, his open bar wristband. The rest of the trip, he would get bronx cheers anytime he emerged on to the pool deck. This isn't really relevant to anything tbh, but I will never be able to see a giant Foster's can without remembering this modern day Icarus.10 points

This board needs to stop acting like Hahn is some victim. He's on board every step of the way.10 points

Liam Hendriks dropped Dan Lozano in October apparently. He has new representation.7 points

Your need to punch down at minimum wage workers and restaurant workers in a conversation that really wasn’t going that way says way more about you than it does anything else.6 points

More than 50% of mlb players are conservatives. Can we stop with that stupid narrative that Republicans and conservatives aren't prevalent and welcome in the game. They're everywhere, and no one cares. It's a job and it's baseball.6 points

Man you must have a masters degree in negativity. I get that you don't like the 2020 Sporting News GM of the year...and you hate the White Sox as a general rule. But come on man...this roster that Hahn has built is filled with budding stars at almost every position...they have a low payroll with room to upgrade and the future has never been brighter. To this Hahn adds, by almost every measure, a top ten pitcher in all of baseball in exchange for a player dealt from an area of massive organizational strength...young pitchers...and of the dozen dynamic young arms Dunning was the oldest and with the least dazzling stuff. From THIS data you manage to write a 10,000 word dissertation that Hahn sucks and this is likely to be a "hahn special" because...1) The team is over rated. 2) Lynn isn't very good because the last 300 innings where he earned 10 WAR are an illusion and we should probably also ignore the fact that in 9 years he's pitched 1500 innings with a FIP of 3.64 and nearly 3 WAR per year and instead focus on that horrible last game he pitched. 3) Dunning is AMAZING based on his 34 innings of 4 FIP at the major league level and will leave a "gaping" hole?? 4) Cease, Kopech, Lopez, Kelly, Crochet, Stiever, Dahlquist, Thompson, lambert, Flores and Pinklington are trash are unlikely to fill the hole that Dunning's departure leaves. This is just rantings. Did Hahn run over your dog or something?5 points

Aaah yes, the great Adam Eaton bidding war of 2020. No one thought the Sox would come out victorious, but a least minute bid of $7M blew the competition out of the water and brought our beloved Spanky back home where he belongs.4 points

I love that JR is now running the team like Jerry Jones. Eaton and Lynn were cost effective moves that made the team better and while Dunning was nice he was certainly movable and by no means proof that there is now a push to get really old really quick. Other than a handful of starters none of which are all that good, nobody has spent any money this offseason. People need to really take a step back. The White Sox are not getting Snell for Leury Garcia and Dane Dunning. The cubs are also not handing off Darvish for Stiever. The Sox got burned waiting on Machado and Harper. My guess is Bauer and Springer are waiting on the Mets. If the Sox sit around and wait on them there could be nothing left and then the pissing and moaning around here would be epic. The White Sox are not going to overpay for Sprigner and Bauer you can call them cheap and that would be fair I guess.4 points

This talk of signing Brantley or Rosario to DH until Vaughn is ready is malarkey. It is a complete waste of resources. It is time for the team to release Yermin and see what he's got. They can rotate guys to DH on occasion if need be. The only issue is if Yermin is completely mashing (OPS 850+) and Vaughn is ready, what do they do? Do you just keep Vaughn down until there is an injury? Bottom line - paying good money for a DH is silly when we have Yermin ready and Vaughn ready soon as well.3 points

This site is stupid. Yesterday people were b****ing all day about Adam Eaton coming back, even after knowing Springer wasn't happening and there was no other choice but to try to find the tallest midget among 2nd tier options. And now today everybody wants to give like $40M guaranteed to a reliever. Unbelievable.3 points

I'm not gonna waste time in a sports thread humiliating someone who has no idea how wages have been effectively exploited for over 40 years by a very select few in this country, and how wages are actually set... all I'll say is what you said is 100% categorically false.3 points

I like this plan except I just don't see the appeal of Richards over Q. Their career numbers are very similar (Q is arguably slightly better), Q is younger, and Q is WAY more durable.3 points

Horrible trade. This rebuild was not supposed to be about a one off title. It was supposed to be about sustainable success and competing for (and hopefully winning) several championships. If Dunning turns into Bieber for Texas, the Sox don't have that cost controlled asset to fill out their rotation in 2022-2026. We all like Kopech, Cease, Crochet, et al, and want them to succeed, but they could all flame out, leaving 2 rotation spots to fill in 2022 and 3 to fill in 2023. Dunning would've left one less spot to fill in both years, and signing Bauer would've put it at 1 spot to fill in 2023. This trade actually creates more uncertainty in the competitive window to try to win in 2021. That's why I hate it.3 points

Next steps IMO: Sign Hendriks to a 3/$39 deal Sign Richards to a 1/$11M deal Extend Giolito at 5/$75M Extend Lynn at 2/$40M3 points

Am I the only one who would prefer James Paxton to Jose Quintana. I guess my thought its you already have 3 innings eaters in the rotation so you can gamble a bit with higher upside.3 points

I don't even know Eaton's politics? I just know Drake LaRoche situation with Eaton and some of that stuff. I know that before the Drake LaRoche fiasco Eaton was pretty well liked by Sox fans although there was some commentary around his time in Arizona and maybe he had too much of an ego or something for being such a young player. Either way - that was a long time ago and he's been a professional with the Nats ever since and people mature. And yes - I actually am human enough that I don't think someone is a (good or bad) person because of who they voted for. I may not agree with that person - but it DOES NOT make someone a good or bad person because you voted for Biden and/or Trump. I'm going to end with that but enough is enough on the TLR stuff and the Eaton stuff. Its absurd. I've made it clear - people have an issue with TLR - put it in the thread from when he's hired - don't dump it into every thread out there.2 points

I’m all in on Hendricks, want him so bad. I think these guys do have some credibility but we should be cautious given his agent is Dan Lozano. Could be effing with us the same way he did with machado2 points

He’s arguably been the best reliever in baseball the last two years, so yes he’s significantly better than Colome.2 points

I hear ya. He liked the smokes and he loved the horses. Neither helped keep him focused on baseball. There is no doubt in my mind if he played the game with today's ball...someone would have gotten killed. He would have set the standard for exit velocity.2 points

I'm sure you are a charming person in real life but here on Soxtalk you seem to be a dick to everyone. Still...that's fine. Dick away. But...we just added a guy who's been one of the ten best pitchers in baseball over the last two years and one of the leaders in innings pitched...and a left handed hitting RF who has a career .360 OBP to a team that WAS A PLAYOFF TEAM last year...and you say if we add another piece only as good as Q we won't be good enough to be a playoff team? WHAT???2 points

No lineup with Adam Eaton and Nick Madrigal is the toughest lineup in the AL; it's certainly not better than the Yankees lineup. And what are you talking about? The Sox didn't just not sign Bauer/Springer, they signed a guy that a team whose trying to contend - the Nationals - didn't even want to pay 9 million dollars to. Saying people are upset because it wasn't Springer is a joke; Adam Eaton wasn't one of the 4 best available right fielders. You can just ignore the last two years of his career if you want to pretend he's someone else, but those years happened. He's never healthy and guys who struggle with injuries age worse than guys who don't. It's very possible the White Sox just signed a well below average starting outfielder to "fill out" their roster in a season in which they're all in... but please, tell us how it was such a great move.2 points
