He fits very well. He and Eloy can take turns in left as long as both bats are in the lineup most every day keeping both fresh and engaged. He's a leader, winner, clutch vet, professional, class act. He reminds me a lot of Bears' Allen Robinson. Vaughn needs another year in AA or AAA. Sox are going all in this year. I doubt they would then turn over their every day DH to a single A .250 hitter. Its not fair to the team and not fair to him. We desperately need a lefty bat anyway or be challenged by right handed pitching again.5 points

Might want to learn how to do something basic, like quoting a post, before calling into question said posters intelligence.4 points

Lets relax on the sustained success stuff until we actually sustain success for at least two years. You're getting a little ahead of yourself.3 points

It's nice to get a brief break from "JR is cheap" "TLR is a drunk" "RH is the worst GM ever" over and over in every thread to listen to this little oasis of sanity. Wow is this exciting. The idea of Katz working with Cease, Lopez, Kopeck and Crochett...be still my heart. There's also a nice article in Bleacher Report about the White Sox home grown relief staff. So very much positive in this organization. So much to be excited about.3 points

If Hahn would have gone to the Phillies I might of finally got that interview for the White Sox GM job.3 points

If this is true it debunks how put off Hahn is to his lot in life with the Chicago White Sox.3 points

Jackass may be too strong a term, but it's very insensitive, and it's also a false equivalency. Fried foods kill people the people who are eating them, they aren't killing people because the person eating them is coming into close contact with others and not wearing a mask.3 points

I will never get what happens in people's brains to justify this kind of behavior towards others.3 points

"leader, winner, clutch vet, professional, class act" Can this be quanitified or proven true, specifically for Brantley?2 points

One reason I would be OK with trading Vaughn for the right return (it would have to be a really good one) is that he is easily blocked. If you bat right handed and only play 1B/DH, you better hit like Abreu, and he might, but you lose a lot of roster flexibility when you give him a roster spot.2 points

The report states he turned it down three times. Dombrowski and JR go as far back as JR and TLR and JR's boneheaded hiring of Hawk essentially fired both. I would guess that Dombrowski approached JR prior to speaking to Hahn three times. This could all be untrue but it could also debunk the Soxtalk ideology of the current state of the White Sox front office.2 points

I think he’s just using the term splash because that’s what was mentioned in the question, not because of some earth-shattering acquisition.2 points

I'm sure those in-game tactics didn't help him any in the eyes of the Sox, but his incident with a Barons team employee may have been the last straw.2 points

He seemed like a guy the White Sox were grooming, then suddenly he was gone. I wonder if this shit had anything to do with it.2 points

Right, because how to use a computer is a much more sensible gauge of intelligence than actually using logic. This quote is so laughable.1 point

I remember that intrasquad game. He looked like an ace. K'd a bunch of guys. Then during the season we never saw that Cease again. 8 K's in 4.2 innings.1 point

This is a joke right? I would have to seriously question my intelligence if the only way i could evaluate anything is through stats. You think it makes you smart lol but all it does is make you unable to think on your own.1 point

And then what happens next year with Eloy, Brantley and Vaughn?1 point

I would say a very poor record with free agency prior to last year.1 point

Why would Cease want to start throwing this pitch again? He doesn't need it.1 point

Agreed. While I'm sure they would love to win the WS. It is their job and there are many other factors that apply.1 point

It would be fascinating to learn what kind of relationship exists between Reinsdorf, WIlliams and Hahn. If KW and Hahn leave, I think Reinsdorf would be screwed. I don't think an experienced executive would take the job so you know he'd give it to some younger person looking for a start in the business. And that means there would be a learning curve.1 point

Not sure where else to put this or if it's already been mentioned, but Chuck's podcast interviewed Katz. Some really good insight here, including guys preliminary work with Reynaldo Lopez. He specifically said they're working on the curve ball and bringing that back.1 point

You're on the right track.....but there needs to be an abundance of options for good jobs in both urban and rural areas. The country is falling apart because even college educated folks who have a decent family and friend support system are getting squeezed. There simply are two economies. There's one for the middle class and above and there's one for the working poor. And the largest segment of US society is in the latter category currently. I read an article where they claimed that 47% of the US labor force is making $27k or less per year. That's not sustainable. Those people are fracturing into two groups based on who they place the blame on for the lack of good jobs. When half the country can barely pay their bills, you have a problem. This is exactly how societal decay happens. The two greatest threats to America are income inequality and climate change. Fixing those are a must.1 point

OKC is really bad but bulls had a lot of good things tonight. Zach has really been putting in effort. Coby is just gonna have some games where he takes over. Williams looks great, and the screen action between the bigs is helping out Markannen. Carter Jr. still timid. And my take: fat euro players >>>> skinny tall euro players. aka Poku looks awful to me.1 point

Increase high school graduation, increase college and university attendance and graduation (including the trades), and improve job market participation and labour market outcomes. There's probably no better cure to radicalization than a decent education and solid employment. People with steady jobs, good education, and good family and friend support systems don't listen to OANN or throw bricks through a CVS window. Also, I don't think polarization is a strong enough term anymore to describe what's going on. Partisan politics mostly provides a good outlet for the combat of ideas leading to mediated outcomes. However, in America people seem to live in completely different realities, where they can't even agree on first principles.1 point

Honestly kind of what I was thinking. Baseball in Chicago is good for Opening Day, and then about the 2nd or 3rd week of May through September (and probably 1st or 2nd week of October if we ever made it that far)1 point
