If you want the Sox to be competitive for years, I just don't see how you can have Crochet spend the whole year in the bullpen.4 points

You anticipate an insult and start handing them out before it even happens, in every thread. This shit is tired dude, grow up4 points

I would be shocked if they do this. I really believe they have a Collins plan...I think all of this year they had him catching the top prospects in the alternate training sight teaching him how to be a catcher. ..coaching him every day. They didn't need him in 2020 with McCann and Grandal so they taught him. I've been a big supporter of Collins and I think a guy with an elite batters eye and elite power and a lefty bat has enormous value as a back up catcher/dh/1B guy. Bringing on some old free agent catcher seems more 2018 White Sox than 2021 White Sox.3 points

Sox Ownership: We are all in! World Series or BUST! Sox fans: Great I can't wait to get Trevor Bauer for the top of the rotation Ownership: Whoa, that seems a bit expensive Fans: Ok, well how about George Springer, you saw how bad we were in RF last year? Own: Well, you remember Adam Eaton, right? Fans, Yeah, why? Own: No reason, how about Lance Lynn Fans: Well at least he is good, but what about the other holes? We definitely need a closer after Colome became a free agent Own: Hey Tony, can we add another reliever? [Incoherent mubbling in the background] Own: Eckersley? He is like 70 years old now, right? Uhhh, let me get back to you guys on that one. Fans: With McCann gone, we need at least one more catcher on the roster, right? Own: Yeah, guys who can hit in key situations, play good defense, call good games and frame are great. Well, how about a guy who might eventually do one of those things? Fans: What? Really, did you guys just say you were all in? Own: What's that? You are breaking up, and we are having problems hearing you... [CLICK}3 points

If you want the Sox to win the World Series this year I just don't see how you can have an issue with Crochet being in the bullpen.2 points

ASSUMING WE HAVE A NORMAL-ISH SEASON Kopech starts at Charlotte and works up slowly to 5 to 6 innings, and comes up around June unless other problems dictate an earlier arrival. Crochet starts at Birmingham as a stater, working mostly 75 to 80 pitches an outing getting around a dozen starts between AA and AAA before evenutally coming up as a reliever, to finish the season. He ends up somewhere between 100-120 innings this year.2 points

Guys, please don't get me wrong, I think Vaughn will be great in a year or two, just not getting too high yet. Not grading him an A or F, just an I. Hopefully, a year from now, he's ready for the show. Ofc he's going to get a chance to succeed, he just hasn't got much of a minor league resume YET. His college stats are great , for sure, but he still needs to prove they convert to MLB org baseball. For anyone hoping for him on the 2021 Sox roster, I don't think that's going to happen.2 points

I don't think stats from 50 games during somebody's draft season should ever be referenced. Vaughn is one of the best college hitters in the last 10 years...and that's not hyperbole. I'm not too worried about him.2 points

It amazes me that in three generations our leadership has gone from "Ask not what your country can do for you" to "1% of dead Americans is cool by me as long as I don't have to do anything for someone else"2 points

Stop escalating? Lol the guy posts to me out of left field and me responding is the problem. Got it pal. I'll make your job easier as this isn't enjoyable for me with a barrage of trolls that apparently I should never respond to; as if I don't ignore 90% of them. Have a good holiday and best of luck.2 points

100% agree. And let’s be honest, Kopech will likely be in the bullpen as well if we make the playoffs next year. And maybe it won’t be 2021, but I still believe Burdi has the chance to become an elite reliever in time. His stuff is beyond phenomenal, just needs to learn how to harness it. But imagine this pen come October: 9th: Hendriks 8th: Bummer* 8th: Kopech 7th: Crochet* 7th: Heuer 6th: Marshall 6th: Fry* 6th: Foster Plus you’d also potentially have Lopez, Burdi, Johnson, Lambert, Cordero, & possibly even Stiever in the mix as well. That’s potentially a best-in-class bullpen you’re looking at there.2 points

Attitudes like this is one of the main reasons there are over 300K people dead from this virus. If everyone was in fact brave and selfless enough to follow the guidelines, social distance, and wear a damn mask, we wouldn't be in this situation.2 points

I would say those not willing to change are cowards. It’s a freaking pandemic. Over 300k lost. More people are dying from Covid everyday than anything else.2 points

I love how their "source" tells them every single trade idea that flows through Rick Hahn's head, and also knows all the other teams that are pursuing said players.2 points

Might want to learn how to do something basic, like quoting a post, before calling into question said posters intelligence.2 points

Didn't the Sox trade Bobby Bonilla to get him? ?2 points

I think it depends on the amount of off-days, but realistically the #4 starter is probably getting two starts Max as you won’t need them in the Wild Card round and will likely skip them whenever possible.1 point

I don’t get the concern over having too many good playerss. Grandal Collins Abreu Vaughn Madrigal Moncada Anderson Garcia Jimenez Robert Eaton Brantley Engel That’s thirteen guys you can roll with for two years. Dump Eaton after ‘21. I don’t see the problem here1 point

It literally shows how every team did in every year. Every dot on that chart is one team, their payroll and their results from a single year. There are no averages there. Not sure why you continue to say otherwise.1 point

Yet your attitude is that of a stubborn, stupid late 60's man. Still no idea where you get that I'm scared or a coward. Also fitting you didn't absorb a single thing I said. You're not worth the trouble, I prefer not to allow myself to stoop to your pitiful level. You're clearly past the possibility of learning something, anyway.1 point

2 of those three are the organization shooting itself in the foot and then wondering why they can't walk.1 point

This is a joke right? I would have to seriously question my intelligence if the only way i could evaluate anything is through stats. You think it makes you smart lol but all it does is make you unable to think on your own.1 point

He fits very well. He and Eloy can take turns in left as long as both bats are in the lineup most every day keeping both fresh and engaged. He's a leader, winner, clutch vet, professional, class act. He reminds me a lot of Bears' Allen Robinson. Vaughn needs another year in AA or AAA. Sox are going all in this year. I doubt they would then turn over their every day DH to a single A .250 hitter. Its not fair to the team and not fair to him. We desperately need a lefty bat anyway or be challenged by right handed pitching again.1 point

This was the speculation, but upon their last agreement. the cap will not stay flat after this year. https://nba.nbcsports.com/2020/11/06/report-nba-salary-cap-will-increase-at-least-2-annually/ That said, they are still going to hold 18% of player salaries in escrow. As you said, it's all complicated but with the cap guaranteed to grow 2% each of the next three years after this one, that escrow amount ends up shrinking down to under a 13% reduction in current salary (potentially) over that time period. To compare that with MLB, last year players took a 73% reduction in salaries and if owners hold firm again this season and push the season back to say June or July, you're looking at another 50% cut in their pay. So you are correct that the NBA is cutting back somewhat, but they are not cutting back in the way that the MLB did or is doing due to fans not being in the stands. And the interesting thing to me is that the cap actually gave owners much more leverage in the NBA because salaries are directly tied to revenue. I guess it also makes making a deal a bit easier as well though. MLB owners are exploiting players because players don't have a cap so they can't tie their earnings to revenue like they do in the NBA. Lastly, as NBA revenue grows so do players salaries to the same proportion; in baseball, that has not been the case the last 10-20 years. Which is really what drives me crazy; MLB player revenue has declined as revenues grew, but now that revenue declines MLB wants the players to subsidize that. It's bullshit.1 point

It would be fascinating to learn what kind of relationship exists between Reinsdorf, WIlliams and Hahn. If KW and Hahn leave, I think Reinsdorf would be screwed. I don't think an experienced executive would take the job so you know he'd give it to some younger person looking for a start in the business. And that means there would be a learning curve.1 point

Bringing back Q and Colome would be realistic and make for a solid roster. But yes they always run out of starters.1 point

Hard to argue. This is easily a 90+ win team as is. I think most people are hoping the Sox take it to that next level of “fuck you, the trophy doesn’t get handed out this decade without our say so”. That’s Bauer and Hendricks.1 point
