100%. Tony has been active, vocal and recruiting like crazy. He’s a big reason why coaching staff is so solid, Lynn is here and he’ll be a big reason why Hendriks is here if they sign him too.8 points

This dude’s name is “RagahRagah”, he has Tom Cruise laughing as his profile picture and this is all taking place on a message board about a sports team. This same guy just gave his 6th or 7th speech about how he’s not a hypocrite. The same guy thinks it’s his duty decide what’s “wrong” and to call everyone else out for being “wrong”. ?6 points

Well JR remembers how profitable 1994 was for him in the long run. The fans eventually kind of came back. Plus who needs first place teams anyways. 2nd place keeps the suckers, I mean fans, coming back for more.4 points

Madrigal, Dahlquist and Heuer for Gray and Barnhart would be a bad trade for the Sox IMO4 points

I'd like to trade Nick Madrigal for Mike Trout + a prospect. Not sure why the Angels would want to do it, but the Sox would be taking on lots of salary, so LAA needs to sweeten the deal.3 points

If closer isn’t important, why did you suggest Grandal for Hader?3 points

I'll believe it when I see it too. The owners fought tooth and nail to delay last season with no fans and they'll do the same this year. They can force a delay but will first try to "negotaiate" and drag their feet while blaming the players union until they have the start date they want. We've seen this movie before.3 points

He’s not living on his Oakland reputation at all. Sox are buying his Reds production. Gray is a pitcher who is fortunate to have modern pitching strategies take over. He has a mediocre four-seam fb with great secondaries. Reuniting with his Vandy pitching coach made him comfortable with reducing his four seamer and living on his secondary pitches (whatever they were). He’s been much more successful. The same goes for musgrove who was just starting to lean into this. Katz will be as good for Gray as Cinci was.3 points

I know this isnt Sox news but I laughed when I saw this. Never really cared for his broadcasts. Ok but yeah. Hes also has red hair, a frightening smile and his nickname is Boog.2 points

This isn't what was said. Apparently all of the players were demanding trades and wouldn't speak. People mad, they are real mad.2 points

The players don't have much choice other than to roll with him. I HIGHLY doubt that anyone here wants this team to implode after being a complete dumpster fire for more than a decade. You can want the team to succeed (WE ALL DO) and be dissatisfied with how other aspects of the club are run/operating.2 points

I agree that we are a contender right now. We are in the enviable position of improving our current good club by making relatively doable moves. Find a reliable SP, a good RP, perhaps a DH. Obviously the better the player the greater the cost. We keep discussing a half-dozen players in each area of need that at a minimum would improve the club further. If we offer Hendriks 14 million for 4 years and sign him...half the forum will scream the FO got screwed. If he signed elsewhere...half the forum scream that we need to get rid of cheap old JR. I want us to make realistic offers for good solid guys to add to an already great team. If Bauer and/or Springer can get the numbers being discussed for them I don't want them. If Hendriks can get 4 years at 15 million...I don't want him. Colome, Q, and Vaughn will get us to the playoffs and beyond. Get us better than those three names...so much the better.2 points

Or when they found out our players spoke with him and are ready to roll with him. I'm convinced most fans want us to fail just to be right about TLR and Jerry.2 points

Ask the Oakland hitters if Gio was "coughing up chunks" during that playoff start, arguably the biggest game of his career, outside of those other no-hitters he threw. God forbid young players needing experience to learn and improve their skills.2 points

It's extremely small minded to make presumptions of someone based on their user name or their avatar. I use the avatar because I think it is funny and the name has a story behind it. These are not things I should have to explain to anyone. Anyone who is actually ignoring the words someone actually typed and instead grasps at something entirely irrelevant to make a judgment about that person is not a logical, rational human being. If you care more about aesthetic than substance you are petty and presumptuous. What Orlando *actually* said is stupid. I don't really jump into that many topics unless I notice someone saying something that is provably incorrect, no reason not to correct misinformation. I never run from an argument and I will always respond kindly to someone being kind. When someone has nothing to do but insult you instead of argue your point it's clear they have nothing to contribute. Thanks for being an adult with your reply!2 points

If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. Which is to say - I feel like most of these "top-tier" closer type deals don't work out. I'm not getting very hung up either way. I mean we won a championship with Dustin Hermanson, Cliff Polite, and Takatsu, etc. before Big Bad Bobby stepped in. As we saw with Crochet this year, you can find a shut down guy like that in house. Not saying Hendriks wouldn't be nice - but were not the type of organization to sign "extra pieces" to supplement an already strong team, nor are we one to give market level contracts out.2 points

They agreed to sign Beckham and he passed the physical before the LaRussa announcement. LaRussa's views on race and his criminal behavior are nauseating. I hope the White Sox post the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission contact information in their clubhouse and front office. https://www.eeoc.gov/field-office/chicago/location Phone (312) 872-9744 If you believe you have been subjected to employment discrimination, please access the online Public Portal here. The greatest scam on the planet is JR forcing the hire of an Octogenarian as a win now play. Then only to tighten up the purse strings talking about how money is now tight. The next play in his grand scheme will be to have a forced labor stoppage and he can avoid paying payroll altogether.2 points

This is good. Means resolution should come soon with him. Sox will either get him or move on to other targets but at least it's moving.2 points

They're dragging their feet on that one (coincidence?) meanwhile there are over 200 free agent players just sitting out there but pitchers and catchers are going to report in a month and a half. Ok2 points

Sonny Gray just made his 32nd consecutive start allowing 6 hits or fewer, a new Major League record, excluding "openers." He was sharing the record with Nolan Ryan. ? Just saying ... if that's your #4 then you're up there with the Dodgers and Padres for best rotation. Sonny Gray is exactly like Quintana when he was with the Sox - super underappreciated to the national media, but very, very, very solid. Now, the case can be made that Q was not worth Eloy and I'd agree. You can also use the Kaplan analogy that Q is a Buick not a high-end car & that you wouldn't want Q on the mound as your do or die pitcher, and that's fine too. But let's not dismiss Gray as some meh pitcher. He's every bit as good as Keuchel and Lynn are in this day and age. They are all interchangeable based on hot streaks.2 points

I do not disagree but don't think the Bears will see it that way. There needs to be a seasoned football mind in the building. The Bears hire inexperienced people and then wonder why they fail. I believe Pace said he would draft a QB annually, He has drafted one but he does love to draft WR's and TE's for some odd reason. I am not certain what to make of Mitch or any of this but I do think it all comes back next year. I think the O line has solidified itself and that has helped Mitch and the running game and we can see that he still needs work but he is serviceable. All of the money has been spent on the defense thus this is what we have. I think they sign Mitch for two years and draft a QB in the first three rounds. They are stuck with Foles next year I believe.2 points

Just asking - is anyone concerned that some NL Central pitchers' numbers are fluffed up because these pitchers faced garbage offenses most nights?2 points

I join you in the opinion that Gray is just OK. Still living on his Oakland reputation. For me he is a #4 type and Madrigal would be a real screwing. No thanks.2 points

I know this would never happen, but my fantasy is that the Georgia runoffs split, leaving the Republicans in a 51-49 majority, then Susan Collins tells the other 50 Republicans that if they don't make her majority leader, she'll switch parties.1 point

One more thought on Trump. He doesn't seem to have aged like every other president in the past 50 years. It could just be hair dye and really good facials. Or he handled the stress better than all the rest. Kudos to him.1 point
