  2. He should do the drill where you throw rocks into the water from a boat. Gain some confidence in hitting the target.

  3. I didn't. Pretty upset about it.

  4. As if this tells the entire story of the team and the org. Come on, that's blanket statement thinking and you know it.

  5. I mean the biggest problem besides hiring a two time felon and trusting him not to be a felon again, is the Sox have totally gamed the fans on this topic. At the beginning they hid behind the legal process and kept saying they wouldn't talk about it until the legal process happened. Then the legal process happened and nothing was really said. Now that we are to spring training with nothing said, Rick Hahn is out there saying this was all 4 or 5 months ago and isn't worth talking about. The topic hasn't gone away because the Sox still are avoiding the topic. So instead of having one bloody press conference, or god forbid, doing the right thing here, we are getting death by a thousand cuts and we get a piece of a rumor here, and a bit of story there, and it just keeps going because the team refuses to be in front of the entire story. It is obvious they view it as the fans can go f*** themselves, and just need to deal with it, otherwise they wouldn't keep insulting our intelligence by pretending to take this whole thing seriously. Their strategy is quite literally to pretend it doesn't exist and just to wait until people quit talking about it. So instead we are now months down the road, and it isn't going away. The same people are pissed and insulted, and the team is publicly saying that it doesn't matter, and they don't care. This is the Chicago White Sox fault, and it will keep going until they acknowledge the drunken elephant in the dugout.

  6. And attitudes like this are exactly why fans are pissed and not getting over it. I promise you the worst way for a person to start to deal with something, is for judgey people to tell them to get over what is bothering them and accept it as is.

  7. Counterproductive for whom? What exactly is our digestion of the new sordid details of this embarrassment holding back? If the facts of this hire are affecting the players then that sounds like more of an issue with the coach than with the discussion surrounding it. Every new fact that comes out is fair game and should absolutely be amplified, we deserve to know exactly how all this went down, if we have to deal with this bullshit going forward then I want the Sox to have to sweat every last detail of this fiasco, Why in the hell would you just sweep it under the rug for them? This organization has done nothing to deserve that level of respect. They need to speak to all of it.

  8. Complaining about the TLaR hire initially was fair game, but it has gotten old over the past several weeks. Please move on men because this is starting to get counterproductive. Let circumstances play out for a while with the team and let Sox fans enjoy the start of a new season. Thanks.

  10. I'm just happy to have electricity for 24 hours straight. I restocked my tequila, picked up some IPAs, and learned our largest contract in team history is the smallest contract of any MLB team largest contract. Fuck, wait, I don't want to be a buzz kill. Jose will be even better this year, Grandal can play 150 games, a 5th star will appear like the blessed virgin Mary, Vaughn will live up to his potential, and Tony will learn how to use the Uber app.

  14. Not a fan of the hire then or now. It’s pathetic that he was chosen and now the more facts that come out, the more incompetent and disfunctional this organization looks. HOWEVER, I will not deny his accomplishments as a manager. He knew what he was doing (granted a decade ago). I think this team is talented enough to win inspite of their manager (as seen with RR). I’m ready for baseball to start and distract me from this shit show over the past year/year and half. I will always support the team due to all the fond memories they have given me in my childhood and young adult life.

  16. Dude I just smoked a blunt and I'm dying over here. You crack me up. Def fun to engage someone that likes to be subtle with it as they drive the knife in. What's done is done. Guilt and regret about the past are not helpful emotions. We're moving on to 2021. Rick Hahn has built or stumbled onto a monster. Fangraphs will confirm my thinking when Sox are projected for an AL Central winning 92 wins in a few weeks.

  20. Buried behind a paywall is an Athletic article that TLR claims he was upfront about his SECOND DUI early in the interview process and told all three of these guys. Someone is lying and covering their asses. Hahn and Williams aren't going anywhere because they are as guilty as JR in this bullshit. https://theathletic.com/2395134/2021/02/18/white-sox-tony-la-russa-rick-hahn-mlb/ for those of you with subscriptions. BTW, if you are on T-Mobile they offer free subs it seems like every year.

  22. Whatever we say about the DR, it is pretty clear most or all of the father’s (Tatis) $17-18 million has been depleted...or he would never have signed with an agency like BLA (similar deals to extract Cubans with buscones, the Puig escape/kidnapping the most famous example of a “future earnings” loan shark approach). Big family spread across DR and Florida. That and the fact that he asked for another $10 million in more immediate signing bonus money, although endorsement money is already starting to roll in as well, like video game covers and regional SC promotional deals.

  27. you have no idea how good of a manager he is. he hasn't managed in a decade, and he's also an elderly man with a drinking problem, take off the rose tinted glasses. ffs

  28. Perhaps fans can "move on" if the club actually provided honest answers to their fan base. What changed between Age 75 and 76 for Boomer Silent Generation and 9 10 years removed from the dugout Tony La Russa, for Jerry to completely flip from his statement Tony La Russa cannot relate to young players and has no reason to return to managing? How committed is Tony LaRussa to fulfilling his role as manager, after his statement he would not have returned if he had to give up his get out of arrest/jail ring HOF credentials? Tony has avoided all managerial media responsibilities since his hiring, including MLB's Winter Meetings where every other GM and Manager was available, and was 90 minutes late for his first scheduled appearance since the Winter Meetings. Is Tony physically and mentally capable and willing to fulfill the responsibilities of a ML manager? What are Kenny Williams, Rick Hahn and Tony La Russa's current roles and authority levels? Also, what information regarding the managerial search was Rick Hahn provided prior to his public statements of the managerial search criteria during the recently extended Rick Renteria firing press conference? What time after Tony La Russa's latest publicly known DUI arrest did Jerry Reinsdorf decide to hire Tony La Russa, and at what point did Jerry disclose to his "family", i.e. Kenny Williams and Rick Hahn the fact that Tony has once again been arrested for DUI. Has the club compensated and or apologized to Willie Harris for the farcical interview process to comply with the Bud Selig minority candidate rule? The White Sox issued a statement regarding a Tony LaRussa "third strike" for DUI arrests. What is the White Sox' interpretation of his current strike count (0 as in 0 with the team, 1 as in actual convictions after plea bargains, or 2 as in the number of publicly known DUI arrests? "Managing, it just takes an awful lot out of you. There's nothing else for him to accomplish. You know, he's won three World Series, and uh, he's in the Hall of Fame. And so, there's no reason for him to go back to managing, and have to try to deal with people 22 years old when you're 75 years old." - Jerry Reinsdorf on Tony LaRussa, February 2020

  29. I wouldn’t expect younger, high-risk, high-ceiling guys to make the list. With AAA starting in April and everyone else starting in May, you really have to limit who’s hanging around the complex. Note that the younger guys who got an invite are mostly big bonus guys. Hence Cespedes and not Bailey. Also, Cespedes and Sanchez are both older. Sucks, cuz I’d like to see them, but it makes sense.

  31. The top guy who didn't make it is Ben Bailey. I also don't see the younger Tatis, jose Rodriguez or Bush. For all of the love Ramos got this off season, he also wasn't on there.

  32. An interesting list for no other reason than to see who the Sox seem to favor enough to bring to camp early for the extra work and exposure, and also who they don't.

  35. Ok so everyone hates larussa I get it, he has a couple of DUI’s which apparently nobody on this board has ever got or won’t admit. We are all angels here, let me ask this in your hatred are you going to go as far as to not want him to succeed? I want to win , he is the manager whether you like him or not, but damn JR is old and will die soon then we will all get his cheap kid running the show , we’re not getting Mark Cuban or jeff bezos. Let’s just focus on the team and win.

  40. It's really weird how millionaires and billionaires really like their money and if you try to force them to give some of it up and give it to their workers they find ways to not do that. Who'd thunk it?

  41. I suggested one catch all thread. The media blitz is on. Hall of Fame manager returns to dugout. It's a movie storyline but every actor I can think of to play Tony is already dead.

  42. How so? I don't think they have somebody knocking on the door to play right field, so they clearly needed somebody to fill that position (who was better than the statue we had there last year). It would blow the theory out of the water if they were dying to give Adolfo at bats, but I don't think there's anybody who's ready.
