Is this from the ESPN app or something, or are you texting with caulfield?10 points

is how I'm extremely annoyed by baseball media again. Takes me right back to 17 years old calling the tribune the cub-une and yelling at every baseball tonight segment that didn't mention the white sox. Biggest annoyances at the moment: - National baseball media falling over themselves to talk about how resilient and grindy the Mets have been since they've faced such devastating injuries that have forced some of their players to the sidelines for upwards of a few weeks ? RIP Conforto, i'm sure they also threw a funeral for you - *Fernando Tatis Jr catches a pop-up* . *my phone buzzes 17 times straight* "YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT TATIS JUST DID" "CAN YOUR SHORTSTOP do ThAt? ?" "SEE HOW A SUMMARY OF HOW OUR WRITERS REACTED TO TATIS INSANE CAN-Of-CORN CATCH!" - "The cubs just won a game...are they the greatest team in baseball?" I'm hurt! I'm hurting! The grievances are bubbling to my surface!9 points

Kelenic on pace for a beautiful -5.6 fWAR per 162 Madrigal on pace for a wonderful 4.35 fWAR per 162. Madrigal is a Mike Trout better than Jered Kelenic!5 points

Defensive about a guy telling you that you should have made more cake? Are you insane? The victim mentality in life is annoying as fuck. Tread in public waters, especially the idiocy that is talk radio and expect to take absurd criticism and ridicule. If anything people white knight her endlessly on twitter and etc. I'm certainly not oblivious to BS sexism, but calling everything mansplaining whenever anyone disagrees with you is just exploiting that area.5 points

This is weak. If you don't want to post then don't post. It's not our responsibility to ban you because you can't stop contributing. We aren't your parents4 points

LOL i'm a dickhead who explains things to women and men equally. I'm an equal opportunity douche.3 points

I can imagine you'd be sensitive about undeserved "mansplaining" accusations. If you need a witness that you just talk that way regardless of gender I'm sure plenty of posters on this board would vouch for you.3 points

Don't you think it's kind of obvious why women would be overly defensive in that environment? I would imagine she's probably right in most of those interactions.3 points

Sports media is so manufactured, boring and redundant that taking a short break makes you realize how little actual value there is. There just isn't that much to talk about in a 24 hour cycle, so they're intentionally manufacturing bullshit to piss people off.3 points

Lol at the posters who said he would be a sub 700 OPS ceiling player unable to accept the fact that he can improve with more experience. Now that hes well over 700 OPS and has made great contributions with his contact thanks to adjustments. Those same posters are now calling his current defense his ceiling. These posters will ignore the fact that Anderson has gone from worst defender in the league to above average. They also forget how Moncada has improved on his defense over time. Madrigal is not capable of that though according to them. I wonder what they will cling on to next when he becomes an above average defender?3 points

lol, such a sloppy article. How much of the Sox' 72 million guaranteed in 2024 is "FA money" and how much is arb buyout money? Isn't 3/4 of it arb buyout?2 points

I remember saying that I was positive that someone with a higher ceiling would be taken behind Nick, and would end up being a better player in the long term. But what we knew with Nick was that he was about as good of a bet at finding someone to be a 10 year starter as existed in that draft that we could have selected. The hard part was finding which guy that was, and then getting them developed and contributing. Plus Nick is already a contributing starter on a playoff caliber team.2 points

I personally love Holmes...what don't you like? I think he is the most talented guy the Score has. Bernstein is meh and Parkins is more tolerable now that Spiegel is back teamed up with him.2 points

When did I mention that she was right about the cake? I said I can imagine why she's "overly defensive." I have no idea why you're talking about the "victim mentality" in that reply, but it seems like you have an ax to grind and you couldn't wait to post that canned response that had little to do with my post.2 points

One way that I know someone is really well-balanced in life is if they tell me often how they are well-balanced on a message board.2 points

About 10 years ago I pretty much rid my life of sports media and it was surprisingly easy. No more talk radio. No more ESPN. I listen to some podcasts and research on my own terms when I have time. For me, it helped put my relationship with sports in perspective and none of those things bother me anymore.2 points

He's taking his lumps but you don't have to feel bad for him. This is the first time he's ever failed in his baseball life and he's going to come out of it an even better player. He's a superstar.2 points

I quietly suspected they were on good terms as during Yermin’s slump: - La Russa recently talked about how Yermin had one of the best BP’s he’d ever seen - La Russa in postgame the other night credited something Hamilton did on the bases to “Yermy being such a great two strike hitter” - La Russa still kept Mercedes 5th through a one month slump while many called for him to move down I agree Tony botched the original situation, but he’s done a good job rectifying that mistake and rebuilding that relationship, and credit Yermin for being open to that too. Happy for them!2 points

Like I said, I don't care what the vocal cubsessed fans think. Last year several posted they weren't rooting for the Cubs against Cleveland in September. Sad, but expected by the cubssessed, many who hate the Cubs more than they like the Sox. I care about beating the teams the Sox face the most, competing for the postseason. It didn't matter if the Sox beat the Cubs or not, they lost the Division each and every year since the aughts, to their Division Rivals, the most important games the White Sox play each regular season. Take a poll of the players who they rather win the season series against, Cleveland, Minnesota or the Cubs. Cubs will finish third in that poll, and the players would be right. The Division Rivals are the focus of the season.1 point

Oh, well that settles it then. ? You’ve made clear that you’ve redefined “rival” to mean team you’re competing with for your divisional title. Went over this above, doesn’t actually capture the common English meaning of the word, but we get it. Anyway, I changed my mind and decided “rival” means your last playoff opponent. So it’s the A’s. End thread.1 point

You forgot to state why though. It's because the pitcher can only throw to 1st base a couple of times to speed up the game and it has sped it up on the bases. Once you reach the limit then runners can take huge leads and get huge jumps.1 point

That’s good though! Don’t want to get trapped in the playoffs ?1 point

The problem with this philosophy is that it is dependent on the averages. On average the sacrifice will not produce as well with trying to get a hit with your average hitter. Did the sacrifice occur with an average hitter? If it was with a below average hitter or with a hitter in a slump, do the same numbers hold true?1 point

It is easy for an anonymous poster to question LaRussa's character, but it makes me wonder about theirs.1 point

Actually it isn’t. Fans don’t tune in to root for the manager. With the obvious exception to this strange cadre of TLR worshipers. An aging slugger hitting his 600th is not the same as a washed up hack riding the coat tails of great talent to some post HOF career accolade.1 point

A thread on the Soxtalk main page about career accomplishments with other teams. Do you not see the disconnect, or are you just intentionally obtuse?1 point

He seems to have injury prone legs. Why tempt fate? Am I the only one who thinks stealing second is too risky unless the baserunner is elite?1 point

Accolades for past accomplishment can’t and don’t change that he is a shitty manager in 2021. But I sure hope they keep his stans warm at night.1 point
