If he starts taking Nugenix at a young age, he will be playing well in to his 40's so 3000 is still attainable....and yes she will like it too!!7 points

I said it in another thread, but I’d love including Kole Calhoun in a potential deal to help offset some of the prospect cost. He’s obviously a total wild card but would provide some depth at both RF & DH. Given how bad Eaton has been and Yermin & Vaughn’s struggles against RHP, another lefty power bat in the mix would be ideal.4 points

Reality has caught up with Yermin. It has nothing to do with LaRussa calling him out. To blame his decline on TLR is just silly.3 points

I know it's relatively early in the season, but damn this SP staff is impressive this year. Kudos to Katz.3 points

For all rumors Escobar. Let’s start with this one:2 points

He'll be an everyday guy from here on out, probably deserves a thread. Former 22nd rounder, tools aren't that loud, but doesn't seem to have much of a weakness and is in his baseball prime at 27. He doesn't do a lot wrong. Takes big cuts, has a good upper cut swing for the most part, and has a strong arm and decent range up the middle. You'd like more contact and maybe a few more walks but in today's MLB hitting 270 isn't exactly mediocre, in fact it might be solidly above average. Again, doesn't do a lot to hurt you as a 2B. ZIPS ROS is insanely bullish on him, basically thinks he's a 3 WAR player and will be worth 1.2 over the rest of the season. Not a Rick Hahn thread but take a bow man, whatever process lead to Danny as the 30th is some vidya game dynasty shit. I don't really see a lot to be down about with Danny. He just fucks, as I've said. He is a guy that fucks. Happy for him he's developed into a solid option and a guy that can fill in and keep this winning season going even as a backup now pressed into full time.2 points

Adam Eaton: AVG .197, OBP .298, .347 SLG, OPS .645 Last 30 games: AVG .173, OBP .295 SLG .309, OPS .604 Yermin Mercedes since being called out by Larussa: AVG .173, OBP .253, SLG .222, OPS .473 Yes he has been that bad Andrew Vaughn's last 30 games: AVG .193, OBP .247, SLG .386, OPS .633 .511 OPS against right handers, mashes lefties Leury Garcia AVG .244, OBP .307, SLG .308, OPS .615 been pretty damn good over the last few weeks however Somehow we have been winning with these 4 falling on their faces, thank you starting pitching but this wont last. Eaton needs to be on the bench when we get some reinforcements in the outfield, Mercedes needs to make adjustments or go to AAA, Vaughn needs more time, and Garcia is a good backup but thats his limitation. We all know this though, but the numbers are just puke worthy from these guys. Its a miracle we are where we are.2 points

Keuchel's best game of the year ! Mendick a big hit and help from TB defense. Engel HR now with 3 in a short period of time !2 points

Shane McClanahan (2-1, 4.54 ERA) vs. Dallas Keuchel (5-1, 4.14 ERA) Let's start a new winning streak tonight!2 points

Or it can move on when you stop bringing him up every post. Pretty much everyone agrees he should be part of a DH platoon and dropped down in the lineup until he proves he can start hitting again, but you insist everyone must say he sucks and should be off the team. If you don't, then that means you're defending him and blaming Tony instead. You don't like him. Cool. Stop trying to coerce others into what you think of the guy.2 points

We should trade the strength and conditioning coach.2 points

Because rumors are always worth discussing and if he’s wrong we can ridicule him last last trade deadline. But there is a lot of smoke out there of our potential interest in him.2 points

Would absolutely do that, but Madrigal won’t be traded now due to injury. Vaughn would absolutely be available for me.2 points

The corpse of Eaton should be first to go. Even trying dig for positives by looking at his splits, there isn't much to be encouraged by.2 points

No offense taken. I agree with most of what you state. To a large degree, and this will be unpopular to the antiTony crowd, I think LaRussa has done a pretty good job of playing matchups. Some of the reasons backups have some decent numbers to invoke is because they have been put in good matchups. I was surprised Lamb wasn't in last night.2 points

I think Eaton may be toast, but Vaughn and Mercedes are both rookies in the toughest hitting environment in MLB since the '60s. Maybe we've got to be a little more patient with them, especially Vaughn. Moncada, Eloy, and Robert all had struggles their first years. If you want the rewards later, you gotta live through the growing pains. I'll admit Mercedes has been brutal for the last month. I could see giving Lamb a bunch of his at bats against tough righthanders, but Vaughn's gotta play through it. At least until Eloy comes back.2 points

Eloy has been on the IL the entire season Robert has been on the IL for all but the first month Engel was on the IL for the entire season up until last week Anderson spent time on the IL Billy Hamilton is on the IL Now Madrigal is on the IL Yes, there are a lot of guys not producing right now (Eaton, Vaughn, Yermin, Leury) and even starts like TA and Abreu are having sub-par seasons by their standards. The problem is, there have to be 9 guys in the lineup every day. We're going to have to suffer some bad hitters in the lineup a while longer. The pitching is good enough to beat bad and average teams despite the lineup. Tampa Bay is proving to be a different story.2 points

I want him before this, but if his return lines up with the Field of Dreams game it'd be foolish to not have him walk out of the cornfield.2 points

He also has a solid enough arm to play all three outfield positions and especially SS better than Mendick. Compared to Vaughn/Mercedes/Eaton, he's not even the biggest problem offensively in the line-up right now. And it seemed inevitable that some of our other "back up QB" hitters (beyond those already named) like Lamb were going to return to earth as well. For now, Goodwin's the flavor of the day/week, but how long will that actually last? Basically, TB just has a better bullpen and a better defense right now...overall, they SHOULDN'T be better than the White Sox with everyone back in the line-up and a bench of Collins/Leury/Engel/Hamilton or Lamb.1 point

If Crochet graduates this threshold, reaches Kopech level or close in 2022 (say 120 reg season or 140 total innings, carefully managed like Kopech), he could start for most of 2023, maximizing his value. Katz is tending to the little things to keep pitchers healthy and effective. I don’t think Kopech and Crochet even get this far 2 1/2 months in under Cooper, not to mention Rodon and Cease’s health and effectiveness, when both showed little in close to a combined decade under Cooper. Tampa Bay has had the benefit of modern pitching coaches for a decade, the Sox are just starting to make that leap. Haven’t heard anything about a “pitching lab” as teams like the Astros and Cubs have, but pitchers like Rodon are working with outside labs (ProX). Perhaps Michael Reinsdorf will find the benefit of investing in-house on this front once his father is out of the picture.1 point

Leury also gets bashed a lot about his baseball IQ but in tonight's game against TB he hit a double took 3rd on a fly ball by Mendick and scored a run on a wild pitch that probably most of our players do not score on. He got a big secondary lead off third and made a split second decision to go home once the ball was in the dirt and bounced away from Zunino. He was really surprising how fast he got home and was easily safe. His speed, versatility, switch hitting and his OF defense all help win games. The same can be said for ( except for switch hitting) Hamilton. Until Eloy and Robert come back I suspect both will be around until then or the trade deadline.1 point

Due to financial constraints, TB has practically written the book on how to manage a pitching staff . They have started 11 different pitchers this year while the Sox have started 7. Their top 5 starting pitchers have started 50 games while the Sox SP have started 61. The Rays also believe 2 times through the batting order is enough for starting pitchers and that's another way they limit starters load and rely heavily on their BP. They have a much deeper farm and pitching depth which allows them to mix and match . They have a deeper BP and recently traded Adames because they had Wall and Franco in the wings . One of the guys they got was Feyereisen who has been great for them since acquired and shut down the Sox for 2 innings tonight. They play the best defense in baseball and never overlook defense when looking for players to acquire. All these things haven't won them a World Series but it works great for the regular season as long as the talent evaluators eyes keep working. Despite the low budget and not great draft position they still somehow manage to identify and develop talent through pitching ,hitting and defense and do not hesitate to rid themselves of talent when it gets expensive or is necessitated by up and coming farm hands The Sox are overly reliant on their SP . Their BP is nowhere near as good or deep as TB. The Sox must start curbing their SP innings or they will either be unable to pitch or very tired for the playoffs. This means at least 2 BP arms who can pitch well .Fry may be back soon and this will help some with the depth but a guy just like Freyeresien would be tremendous. I'm not very worried about Lynn or Giolito but I am definitely worried about Rodon ,Kopech, Cease, Crochet and Keuchel running out of gas. They all will be needed to to contribute to winning playoff games if the Sox can get passed the 1st round.1 point

Totally agree with you. With Bieber out I couldn’t be less worried about the Indians. Just wish we were healthy to truly see mid season measuring up against the best teams in the league1 point
