You nailed it - the two of them together sound like 2 people just playing with house money and having a blast. Guys that really appreciate how lucky and blessed they are to do what they do and they genuinely seem to just have dynamic chemistry.3 points

I am still waiting to be blown away by these awesome strategic manager moves that Tony is supposed to be giving us. I was happy to see him hit the obvious one last night with how he handled Collins/Yas, but the bullpen management has been scary. It has just completely collapsed under him this season.3 points

Send a message to the lineup that they need to get it together. Bat Cease 4th and Abreu 9th. Not kidding. Do it for one game to send a message.3 points

Apparently Ross Detwiler is now beyond our reach...sigh. Besides just looking at the stats, how closely are you actually following Fry? What have been his velocity readings? He was never the type of pure stuff pitcher who blew you away, especially after two TJ surgeries. Effective, yes.2 points

You are correct in everything you just said and the reason hahn is still waiting is because hahn IS NOT a baseball man.2 points

The only way the pressure on Hahn would increase would be the Indians going out and adding to their team somehow. Or losing first place and/or wild card positioning between Houston, Oakland, TB, Boston...2 points

Adam Frazier should not be, and probably isn't, the target. He is a very good lead off hitter, but the Sox have a lead off hitter. What they are missing is power, especially from the left side. Neither Moncada, nor Grandal are really well suited to bat 3RD, 4TH, or 5TH. Frazier will also be under control, beyond this season. The Sox don't need that either, and certainly aren't anxious to spend what it would cost in money and, or prospects. Where would Frazier play next year, when Madrigal, Eloy and Robert rejoin the team? The only spot on the roster that will be open is RF, which really should be filled with a LH middle of the order bat. Frazier is not even close to being that type of player. He's simply not a good fit.2 points

Thsi - Cease had a bad error - but outside of that has looked pretty darn good. So a bunch of sky of falling crybabies who are even worse because they are on a 5 game losing streak.2 points

ERA+ of 110 in 2020, ERA+ of 105 coming into today in 2021. Someone who's young, affordable and above league average the last two years, I guess I don't see the impetus for us to move him at all.2 points

Best clip ever: 3 of the best to ever do it, regardless of what you think of Pete Rose and A-Rod. I grew up in the heart of Cub country, Frank (and my dad) are the reason I'm a Sox fan.2 points

Frank has gotten a lot better over the years. And compared to Beckham - I like it - he has brought a lot of energy to the broadcast. Plus - who doesn't dig some one dog references. Speaking of one dog - did anyone know he put up a 7 WAR in his first season with the Mets. Never would have known.2 points

Manhandled by one of the worst teams in baseball. We need reinforcements NOW.2 points

This is the first game thread I have created all season. Cease vs. some guy named Chase De Jong is the pitching matchup. Time to get back on track.1 point

Cleveland's 14-15 against teams above .500 is better than the Sox' record of 10-19.1 point

I'm a big fan of service time manipulation. It gives the teams that work the system longer control of their draftees and allows the MiLB teams to have some stars on their roster. Said no fan ever.1 point

If Gonzalez isn't going to playing CF over anyone but Leury, there is no reason for him to be here. Also for the record, by my count, this is quite literally our 3rd string OF taking the field today based on where we came into spring training.1 point

Eaton's arm. I seem to remember a play during his first stint when he held a live ball too long and cost the team something. I don't remember if there were runs scored, I'm kinda old and my clutch is slippin'. Anyway, it warranted a talking to from Robin or somebody. After that, everytime he got the ball, people in the lower deck were in danger. Good thing there is protective nets now.1 point

Even if he peaks out at a back up IF that works for me. I think Garcia is probably gone after this year, so a spot or two like that is probably open.1 point

Luis Gonzalez getting a start hitting 8th today in LF...isn't he currently the best CF option? Man, I wish Sheets got the call. Anderson SS Moncada 3B Abreu 1B Lamb RF Grandal C Goodwin CF Garcia 2B Gonzalez LF Cease P1 point

This offense is without a doubt awful right now. However if this bullpen was anywhere close to being as advertised preseason, the Sox would currently be up 5 games minimum on Cleveland.1 point

If you would have told me we get the 8th pick or Vucevic I would have went with Vuc1 point

Burgers' numbers are eye-popping and a DH who can back up another position or two is a nice plus.1 point

Umpires blowing calls is part of the history of the game and we all know TLR #RespectsTheGame1 point

I don’t think conduct like that accomplished anything. It isn’t going to change the call1 point

True...but with our current DH problem I would give Burger a shot, Burger has a higher value to us than anyone else would be my guess.1 point

The current lineup could dig quite a deep hole in a 5 week period. They need help as soon as possible IMO. Bring Burger up to replace Mercedes can happen now.1 point

Tony should be in that office, too. JR hired him to win a championship and there's no way Tony feels they can maintain their winning ways with this patchwork lineup. I think his lineups in Houston tell you all you need to know about how he's feeling about this current group of hitters.1 point

100%. As has been stated like a broken record, there is no depth that gets you by while losing Eloy and Robert. The Sox have been getting by on great starting pitching and the offense was being carried for a good part of the year by a 28 year old Rookie DH who has been terrible for almost 2 months now. a) rather than looking for ASG votes, TA, Moncada, Abreu, and Grandal need to start earning their pay. Carry this offense until hopefully Eloy gets back and perhaps Vaughn's lightbulb finally stays lit consistently b) bullpen needs to step up in a big way. No more squandering late leads c) Hahn needs to get off his ass and get aggressive. Convince JR to take on salary so he can make a trade with the limited prospect resources he has.1 point

I mean, at this point you're beyond depth. They acquired high end talent in their trades to rebuild instead of multiple pieces risking duds and failures from all aspects. You can argue which method is better, but there's not really organizations that can suffer the amount of position players injuries the Sox have and have viable replacements. The Sox are on their 7-9 outfielders, and their 6-7+ infielders at this point. They need to make a move for an outfielder badly. Mendick can hold down 2nd base.1 point
