  1. CaliSox obsession with Vaughn is nearing that guy who's Yermin obsession must have meant his wife slept with Yermin.

  2. If you're going to use his high BABIP on one split to make your point you should probably use it on the other side as well. Your argument paints an incomplete picture. In all likelihood, he looks like he's going to come back down to earth a bit against LHP and should get some BABIP-fueled relief against RHP. IDK why you're always so angry or talking about irrelevant players. Vaughn has been ass against RHP. I don't disagree with you. You should at least show the full picture instead of picking and choosing what fits your narrative though.

  5. At this rate, I don't see how much longer they can reasonably keep Burger down while Yermin is swinging a pool noodle at the dish. Great to see Jake forcing the issue.

  9. I believe this is the case. The brain fog thing can last a long time along other nagging ailments. I had it a while back. I've been fully vaccinated since but it really does take quite a while to get over it. Kudos to Yo-Yo for being out there and fighting through it !!

  10. Micker (along with a bunch of other prospects) starts heating up, hits a walk off. Yoelqui is playing. The Future Sox game threads are usually sober and fun. Instead: Rick Hahn, the man who built a team currently in first place that's just experiencing their first slump due to an ungodly amount of injuries is apparently a bum because he doesn't recognize talent in the farm system ... that he (and obviously Getz, Shirley, Hostetler, Paddy, etc.) put in place. Oy.

  11. Adam Frazier should not be, and probably isn't, the target. He is a very good lead off hitter, but the Sox have a lead off hitter. What they are missing is power, especially from the left side. Neither Moncada, nor Grandal are really well suited to bat 3RD, 4TH, or 5TH. Frazier will also be under control, beyond this season. The Sox don't need that either, and certainly aren't anxious to spend what it would cost in money and, or prospects. Where would Frazier play next year, when Madrigal, Eloy and Robert rejoin the team? The only spot on the roster that will be open is RF, which really should be filled with a LH middle of the order bat. Frazier is not even close to being that type of player. He's simply not a good fit.

  12. Really enjoyed watching and listening to the podcast with Rick Hahn, their first episode, think many here will enjoy it, perhaps tonight with the off day. Later episodes will include both baseball and non baseball related subjects.

  13. Almost every MLB team is doing this...for example, the Dodgers broadcasters were at Chavez and they lost the crowd noise of 40000+ in SD just a couple hours down the road for about five minutes. Very weird listen. So not a case of JR saving money, it’s nearly industry-wide across numerous sports for away games.

  14. The Sox have been completely exposed and embarrassed in this series, and there is no guarantee that Eloy and Robert will be anywhere close to the players they were when they come back...if they come back at all. Is it time to tear things down and get a haul for Lynn and Rodon at the deadline?

  15. Honestly the only number that the Sox should care about is that career 116 OPS+, and his huge split advantage vs RHP. The Sox won't be trying to get defense out him, so WAR doesn't matter. Slot him at DH and let him rek righties

  16. It used to be that Stone was guaranteed some games off every year (usually the west coast swing, which gave us Bill Walton).

  17. blah blah blah windbag. It's a baseball discussion based on defensive stats which are a highly debatable thing to discuss. You stepping in with nonsense is typical .You are acting like a petulant school child who was scolded because I admonished you on using lies and distortions when arguing about Vaughn's abilities vs. RHP. If I am obsessed with Vaughn what does that make you? The guy who lied and told everyone that I said send him down to the minors when I did not, then didn't bother to take it out of your post after you admitted I was right. The only thing you have left is to personally attack me. Apparently you are obsessed with spreading falsehoods and lies and jokes at my expense like a child among his schoolmates.

  19. Luis had 1 home run and wasn't anywhere near MVP during season. Yermin gave us about a month and a half of Eloy production and Lamb has hit a little. Not to mention a lot of good players have been hurt around the league. Couple this with playing in a weak division we are actually fortunate. If we played in the AL East or West we would be in third place most likely.

  23. The Sox could learn from this and spend more in the off-season for bench depth and bullpen depth. Great to learn “ what could happen” I realize that we have been decimated and little to no team can compete like that but we can spend more even another 15 million in the off-season could provide more or better depth. Hope they get some help. It would show the current group that management believes in This team to invest.

  25. How about the following?: 1) Send Mercedes back to AAA 2) Bring up Burger to DH 3) Acquire Escobar to play second 4) Continue to search for a better bat to play RF, preferably LH, and especially if he's more than a rental 5) Play Lamb vs. RH pitching,

  29. Yeah I would agree. Excited to see how it plays out. I do expect the Sox to go really top heavy again with the way they allocate spending so hopefully someone falls.

  30. I always wondered how this narrative got started. I know he opined immediately after the Tatis/Shields trade fiasco, but it was mostly at the expense of Hahn/Williams. Or so I thought.

  31. Ramos is putting up a 124 wRC+ in Low A as a 19 year old and has posted a 162 wRC+ since Jun 1st (last 17 games / 75 PAs) with a 9.3% BB rate, 13.3% K rate, .354 ISO, & .240 BABIP. I really like Rodriguez, but I think scouts were higher on Ramos coming into the season despite much defensive upside and he’s more than delivered with the bat so far. In system as weak as ours, I think he’s one of the more attractive trade pieces we have, especially with many rebuilding clubs targeting younger, high upside assets. The Stiever hate is starting to get a bit ridiculous. He hasn’t performed that well in Charlotte so far, but he’s also skipping AA altogether. He was a guy with serious helium before the pandemic and I still think he’d be highly interesting to a lot of clubs. He can easily be the centerpiece for a rental or reliever, but probably not much beyond that until he shows a bit more at AAA. Cespedes is a bit of a wild card, but for now I’m sticking with the more recent, more optimistic scouting reports that suggest significant muscle gains alongside some swing changes intended to add more power. Again, this is an incredibly weak system and Cespedes has enough tools & pedigree to warrant a high spot for now.

  34. The Sox need hitters and there’s no reason not to bring up sheets and burger to give them a shot for the games before the all star break and maybe beyond. The Sox are missing four outfielders and don’t have a second baseman. They currently can compete with a team that hits a little. Sooner or later their pitching will hit a wall and the hitters will have to pull their load. give these kids a shot until Eloy Engle and robert come back. What is Hahn waiting for? This team needs some life.

  35. The only hope is that the advanced age of both TLR and JR make all-in/win now moves this year much more likely than, say, 2024...certainly no guarantees, though. We’re only averaging about 300 fans per game more than KC, and around 5,300 per game less than the Cubs. It feels like we will still get the usual excuses about not supporting the team enough to justify the spending. That said, the t.v. ratings and amount charged for advertising has to have increased by a factor of 25-50%. Guess we can call Jeff Vuck/Nationwide to verify, haha.

  37. The 2010 Giants went 4-12 at one point in late June of that year. The 2011 Cards went 11-15 in June. The 2012 Giants went 2-8 in late June-early July, and later in July went 1-7. The 2013 Red Sox went 4-8 at one point in August. The 2014 Giants went 22-30 over the entire months of June and July. The 2015 Royals went 2-9 in late May / early June. The 2016 Cubs went 1-9 in early July, and had a losing record that month. The 2017 Astros, Cheating and all, went 11-17 in August. The 2018 Red Sox, a 108 win team, had a 4-7 stretch in August. The 2019 Nationals had an 11-14 April and a 3-7 stretch in July. Every team will lose 7 out of 11, 8 of 10, a few in a row. I'm concerned too, but the fact that we're this good with this many injuries is astounding. Fully healthy, entering this season, I had this team winning 89-93 games. I considered myself an optimist. Even after a 5 game losing streak we are on pace for 99... We will have bad stretches. It is how we make adjustments to those that dictate what we're able to do later this season.

  41. Not the first time you've said this...explain to me how a 23 year old guy with 55 MILB games under his belt that is currently mashing LHP, in the process of learning 2 new positions and being exposed to/learning the best pitchers on the planet, and more importantly those in the League he will eventually and currently compete against on a daily basis has the ability to turn off his development switch. Like wtf does that even mean? You should say what you really mean, he hasn't shown incremental month over month growth against RHP that you find to be satisfactory enough to demand a lineup slot on a team that currently sends Yermin Mercedes to the dish in the 5 hole on a nightly basis. Get over it, Andrew stays.
