I like how the La Russa apologists have identified themselves via avatar.6 points

And that's why we get continually one of the worst strike zones in all of baseball.5 points

When I started the GT on the 2nd game of the 6/27 DH against Seattle the Sox had just lost the suspended game. Their lead over Cleveland in the Central had shrunk to 2 games . The Sox had lost 7 of their last 8. Mercedes and Collins drove in all 7 runs and Luis Gonzalez made a perfect throw home to gun down a runner at the plate. Aaron Burr started the game and went 2 innings without giving up a hit. Not exactly the names we are used to seeing in the headlines lately. We've witness a dramatic turn in the Sox fortunes from that point on led by some improbable names . Gavin Sheets made his Sox debut in grand fashion in the next game. He had 2 hits and 2 RBI but that was just a preview. Andrew Vaughn had 2 hits in what would be the start of 4 games in a row with 2 hits and counting. Burr pitched 1.1 hitless innings. The Giolito/Donaldson controversy started and the Sox won 7-6. 6/30 The Sox hit 6 HR's led by Grandal with 2 and Sheets collected his 1st MLB HR. Vaughn had 2 hits again with a HR and 3 RBI. Brian Goodwin and Abreu also hit HR's. Final score 13-3 White Sox 7/1 Vaughn had his 3rd straight game with 2 hits. Brian Goodwin hit his 2nd HR (3rd of the season) in 2 games and a double. Sheets 1/3 with a double and RBI. Collins 2/3 , HR and 2 RBI. It also was the return of Kopech who pitched a scoreless inning in relief and got the win. Burr also pitched a scoreless inning. Sox sweep the Twins 8-5. 7/2 The debut of rookie Jake Burger with the Sox at 3rd base in place of the injured Moncada. Surprise! Another good debut. Jake went 2/4 with a fluke double and played a flawless 3rd base. Vaughn again with 2 hits , a double and a HR. Gavin Sheets hit a 3 run HR in the 9th. Eaton returned from injury and went 2/4 .Final 8-2 Sox over Tigers for their 5th win in a row. The victory extended the Sox lead over Cleveland in the Central to 6 games. It was 2 when I started the 1st GT. It's been an exciting 5 wins to be sure and the most exciting time since the now departed Yerminator was eating his burger. It great to see Burger and Sheets step up and perhaps save the Front Office from selling them short. It Takes A Team ! Enjoy today's game ! Let's Go !!4 points

#1, it shouldn't have taken Katz getting tossed to wake him up. #2, Once Katz did get tossed, Tony should have done enough to join him. You could see Burr was still visibly upset after the inning. Protect your guy.4 points

To be fair, you don't bring much either, if anything. Cali Sox Fan is a great poster. Hope he/she continues contributing.4 points

Facts with sources? You should try it. Makes for better reading than baseless bluster.4 points

"LaRussa is bad because he doesn't yell at umpires and that makes the umpiring worse against the Sox" is the best "I hate LaRussa and am going to make everything I can his fault" logic I've seen yet.3 points
-
https://umpscorecards.com/umpire.html?name=Tom Hallion Hallion is just a trash umpire in general.3 points

If you don't think there is a mental aspect to this game, I don't know what to tell you.3 points
-
Okay. If you really think we get bad zones because old man LaRussa doesnt shout enough, then I dont know what to tell you. Yes, umpires are deliberately fucking the Sox over because they know no one will yell at them. These are professionals we are talking about. Your logic still makes zero sense dude.3 points

How long are we going to debate TLR lineup construction. After cookie cutter Renteria maybe this stuff works.3 points

If you have watched Vaughn play OF this season and think he can't pass in LF your Kool aid has a little something extra in it.3 points

Hamilton & Goodwin aren’t starting caliber players and it’s way too early to make any declarations on Sheets. If Eaton is 100% healthy then he’s far & away the best option in RF against RHP that we currently have. The problem is he’s proven that he can’t stay healthy and an upgrade is necessary.3 points

Man, it's really pathetic to die on the hill of "Will someone please think of the process?" when someone had their skull cracked open and raped. Brain worms.3 points

My verdict on Keuchel, including calling out the team last year and then shitting the bed in the playoffs, is that he's all talk. Total blowhard.2 points

this seems like the guy to trade... but prob not worth enough2 points

Yowza 7 runs against this lineup? I pray we don’t have to see Dallas pitch in the playoffs again this year.2 points

Cmon, you really think bitching at the ump will get use a better strike zone? Not a chance. The reason we have a "strike zone" issue is because Collins is horrendous at framing and pulls pitches off the plate.2 points
-
It sets a tone for the rest of the game. Hell it isn't like Tony does anything during a game anyway.2 points

Thanks for protecting your pitcher and coach there Tony. Cripes.2 points

It's not Collins' fault that the umpire sucks at his job. Always the same morons in these threads blaming him.2 points

Just hope Keuchel doesn't go and give it right back, I enjoy watching Keuchel the least of all of our starters.2 points

Lucas Giolito's last 2 starts have had a lower spin rate on his fastball and slider than any game he's pitched since early 2019. He's in the "high drop in his spin rate" category. And it happened conveniently at the exact same time they started checking. That doesn't mean he can't pitch without the stuff, but he absolutely was using. Figure out how to deal with that, because it happened.2 points

How can you not love Billy. Man he’s the best2 points

The Sox are not trading the #3 pick of the 2019 draft for a middle reliever. You trade Vaughn, you better get back a TOR starter/first division regular with at least 3 years of control.2 points
-
Especially if they make a trade. Vaughn looks like the primary trade target for teams that are talking to Hahn right now. Vaughn has raked against Minnesota and Detroit pitching which has peaked interest in him from other teams. The Sox desperately need middle relievers if they are going to win close play-off games. Marshall, Heuer, Bummer, Crochet can , at times, be a shit show. Kopech will greatly help, if he stays healthy. Even then, we still need at least one more set-up guy or even another Closer type. I love what Sheets has done so far. He clearly has power, sees the ball pretty well, and can cover the outside of the plate. I hope the Sox keep him in case he turns into a monster LH bat, which is what the Sox look for every off--season. We may have that guy right now. Maybe he can even play RF like Vaughn plays Left - put your heels a few feet in front of the warning track so almost everything that gets hit is in front of you.2 points

So for the record, looking at FanGraphs, Andrew Vaughn is currently 10th in their defensive ratings amongst all LF with at least 240 PAs. 10th. He is 21st in OOZ plays. He is 17th in UZR/150, and 18th in arm. In half a season's worth of D measures, the kid is a middle of the pack defensive LF.2 points
-
Alex Gordon was MUCH faster than Vaughn. Probably 50 speed vs. 30 speed. Gordon is one of the best defensive leftfielders of all time. A poor man’s Alex Gordon might be a gold glover. Vaughn needs to be a rich man’s Kyle Schwarber.2 points

jose abreu sucks eventhough he has a track record of success.. but yet a guy who has played 4 games is jesus in cleats. I can't make this shit up.2 points

Billy might finally get a start in CF today. I was getting pretty tired of Goodwin's awful routes in CF.2 points

You are drinking Steve Stone Koolaid if you think Vaughn is going to be a career outfielder.2 points

Vaughn needs to get some starts at first base, his eventual every day position.2 points

Remember what Eaton did for Washington in the World Series? I do. I think we definitely want him around and healthy for the playoffs.2 points
-
As I wrote in another thread, it will only cost the Sox $1.3 Million to put Beckham on the roster. Seems like a no brainer. He is really on fire at Charlotte and he has the Major League experience. He is the most logical replacement for Madrigal, and they don't have to give up any prospects. If Sheets can supply a little LH balance to the lineup, he is the prospect who should be playing, at least until they get Eloy and Robert back.2 points
-
I’d play Eaton just enough to keep him fresh and healthy for the postseason. Then platoon him with whoever is hottest.2 points

I mean this sincerely, you are one of the best posters here. I don't know why people are going in on you so hard regarding Vaughn. Let's just celebrate his success instead of smearing it in CaliSoxFan's face.2 points

It’s July 2. the White Sox are on pace for 98 wins. Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson, Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, Lucas Giolito and Yoan Moncada (this one is kind bs he’s been great) are basically ancillary characters on a team that has “no depth”2 points
-
That couldn't have possibly happened. @CaliSoxFanViaSWside said Andrew Vaughn doesn't offer a damn thing, he is disgusting, terrible and putrid, can't hit, field or run. Open your eyes Balta and stop blindly supporting Vaughn.2 points

Panic trading a future core piece like Crochet for Frazier is a bad, bad move.2 points

Start getting Sheets some time at second base.2 points

Yes, wouldn’t even consider trading Andrew Vaughn for Adam Frazier.2 points

We can discuss this without you being dismissive of me. The difference is optics, the difference is Bauer would have started if the MLB didn't step in and stop it. Players have been sat down for off the field incidents without the MLB forcing the team to do it.2 points

The Dodgers had the ability to take some action, they just chose not to do so. This take by the Dodgers was so bad, that it has been almost universally mocked by baseball fans and media alike. And there are many more like it. Pretend that the Dodgers couldn't do anything if you like, but it is not really true unless you draw a box around only MLB discipline.2 points
