  1. Then do us all a favor and stop trying to take us all down into your pity party on a daily basis.

  2. Are we forgetting about his swan dive into 3B last week where he landed on his hand? This injury isn’t new

  4. Stop with the senior, old man bs. That’s not cute any longer (not that it ever was). Question his judgment all you want but stop with the ageist crap already.

  8. This is an easy one as it tears off and won't cause issues in the future. He shouldn't have any set backs with this one.

  9. The season is extraordinarily long and it's really hard to watch bad baseball, they've been playing mediocre baseball for awhile now. It's exhausting to live and die with every out of a baseball season, sometimes you just need to take a step back, nothing wrong with that.

  10. Injuries suck no doubt and we are far from seeing the team at it's best. But while still in first how could you not love this team and want to watch ? You had Mercedes in April. You have Vaughn making adjustments, you have Sheets and Burger coming up and hitting well right away. The whole Burger story is just amazing. You get stories about how Burger and Sheets were roomies n the minors and going through the Sox initiation by having to sing. You got Billy Hamilton a fan favorite. You got the Big Bastard Lynn, you got Rodon's out of the blue success. There's hardly been any player who hasn't contributed to keeping this team in 1st place with Lamb , Leury Goodwin and Collins all having significant games . Hendricks is about as good as we could have hoped for. Sure there's that guy in me who says it could come crashing down at any moment . But it's like a very slow roller coaster , where you have all this time to think. Don't think ,just relax and enjoy the ride.

  14. I have been pretty apathetic since Robert got hurt. Nothing they've done has changed that for me. I was more into 2019 and 2020 than I am this season. I'm usually more into baseball than any other sport I follow. Not this year.

  19. This is actually very forward thinking of TLR. You want your best guy in the biggest spots against the other team's best hitters. It's something he hasn't done this year and it's something you'll see the Rays do.

  26. Sox are fortunate to reside in such a garbage division, with three of the four not bothering to spend the bare minimum (bottom third), and the Twins fielding a pile of flaming shit this season. @ptatc - At first glance, is the four to six weeks too optimistic for a catcher to return to full strength, as opposed to a player with far less stress with the knee?

  28. You can make tendons stronger. Similar to all tissues like muscle and bones they hypertrohphy when placed under graduated stress. This is the process for rehab for someone like Jimenez after re-attaching to tendons. It also works in healthy subjects. All tissues can increase in tensile strength. The only time there is too much muscle for the tendon is in abnormal muscle growth as in PEDS. Now injuries occur when the external forces are greater then the internal structures ability to absorb it. In most cases the tendon has been weakened by a previous injury and has progressed from tendinitis to tendinopathy where the is a cellular breakdown of the tendon. The tendon can be built back up through proper rehab. Unfortunately, it is nowhere near as simplistic as you make it. With your bridge someone built it from material that can ba easily made and examined and be replaced quite easily. The human body has many tissue that can't be replicated, seen nor easily examined. Working with players in this case is a lot of educated guessing due to these factors. We are getting better at the science but it really is still the practice of medicine. Another factor to consider is that since it really is a league wide issue, if you fire the staff, who will you hire? Everyone will be fired and there aren't enough experienced professionals to go around.

  32. Story has a higher wRC+ on the road in his career than TA does. The Rockies are facing opportunity cost. Keeping Story to allow to recoup the comp pick doesn't come without cost. The Rockies owe him roughly 9 million for the remainder of the season. The slot value of the 31-34th pick in the draft draft is roughly 3.3M. So if the Rockies keep Story and get the comp pick, it will cost them about 12.3M in signing bonuses and opportunity cost of paying a guy 9 million to play 80 games for an awful team going nowhere. On the other hand, they can trade him and pick up three prospects that they would either pay minor league salaries or the major league minimum. They can get multiple prospects instead of putting their eggs in one basket. They could get AAA guys who have less risk associated to them, they could get A ball guys that may have more upside, etc. They could get a mix of the two all the while saving money. Who is running the Rockies right now? They fired their GM mid-season. Their owner just gave 50 million to the Cardinals. It's unclear (I believe the info is not public) whether they gave out 50m this year or whether it is spread. But who is more likely to make a move that saves the team money? A GM who wants to build a winner or ownership? Who is making the call? Who is a contender and in need of a shortstop let alone a middle infielder? The A's? They said they're not interested. The Red Sox could possibly upgrade at 2B. Who else? Maybe the Dodgers if Seager is going to be out for a long time. My point - the Sox should have limited competition, the Rockies owner may value 3 diversified prospects and 13 million savings over one comp pick. Away from Gallo, there may no other bat as impactful on the market for the Sox.

  33. Even without Grandal they'll probably at the very least be in it until the last week of the season, if not still win the division. They're absolutely not a title contender though.

  38. Once again, our training staff fucks up big time. It really makes you wonder how ready Eloy and Robert will be when they come back. They said Grandal is ready to come back despite not being able to run for himself as early as yesterday afternoon and he immediately re-injures himself, only this time it's much more serious. I know there's been a lot of injuries this year all across baseball, but we're doing something wrong. The re-injures with Engel and Grandal are inexcusable.
