Moncada is getting on base 40% of the time, is a plus defensive fielder and is making as much in salary in 21+22+23 as Machado is making this year. He's put up a .550 Slugging percent just two years ago...and he's only 26. Jake Burger is 25. Do you really want to trade Moncada?? Do you really think other teams wouldn't be interested in him?

I was actually thinking about Sox v yankees yesterday. You know how the Yankees always have these prospects we all know of, that make their way into top 100 lists and we get national writers on their minor league progress constantly? They all seem to bust. In fairness, they’ll find a Gio urshela out of nowhere. Meanwhile the all star rosters come out. Marcus Semien, Narvaez, Escobar, Bassitt. All ho hum Sox prospects. (And Tatis) The only place that seems to value Sox prospects accurately is Oakland. The Sox thankfully seem to be self scouting much better recently.

Kelley walked 3 guys and gave up 2 hits in the 1st inning. Sox starters have a 30 pitch limit per inning in minors so he was pulled.

When's the last time a Sox draft pick contributed at the big league level? It's been over a week!!!

in my opinion, Kopech is the best pitcher in our bullpen, not Hendriks. If he is not available out of the bullpen the Sox are going to lose a lot of games after the 6th Perhaps scouting reports on Hendriks may have made him more predictable and hit-able this season. Crochet and Heuer are the only other relievers I have confidence will help hold leads in the second half of the season. For me, improving the bullpen and adding a starting catcher are the highest priority for trade acquisitions. Yadi would be a great match for this team

One of the problems I have with Soxtalk is the lack of love given to the hard working umpires....so I'd like to personally give a shout out to the home plate ump for not calling ball 4 on Engel in the 10th.

It’s always interesting to see the outsider’s perspective on the Sox and their success, which is often simpler, and in my opinion more accurate, than the ones that proliferate among hardcore Sox fans who are just a little too close to, and personally invested in, the rebuild process. I have not read the article yet, but I have noticed what appears to be a high percentage of young Sox position player callups making an immediate positive impact this year. I can not recall anything like it in my 40 years of watching the Sox, even during the Himes era. It is like the 2000s Twins the way every random dude comes up and contributes. It may be all drafting and good trades, but I am curious if Chris Getz also has played a significant role in his revamp of the player development side of the organization. We seem to be producing better all around ballplayers and not just the good body natural athlete guys that flopped here (and sometimes found success elsewhere after struggles) in the past.

I disagree somewhat with what appears to be a consensus here. I think Burger is the best natural hitter of the four. Vaughn will be a solid MLB player, but he's not there yet. Mercedes was fun in April, but there probably was a reason he didn't make the majors until he was 28. I've never thought highly of Sheets, and despite some early offensive success with the Sox, I still don't. I could be wrong, but I don't think Sheets will ever be a quality MLB player.

It's terrible. He'll be 20 before next season starts. They basically took a college player again without the benefit of playing college competition. He better be underslot allowing us to take a first round talent in the 2nd round. Otherwise it's bad value.

I never expected Engel show power like this. You're right. This could be a breakthrough for him. Nearing the trading deadline, this team doesn't need outfielders. It needs at least one decent arm in the bullpen. I would prefer two, but that is asking too much.

We have some good relievers that TLR needs to let pitch more than one inning once in a while, like when your starter only goes 5 innings. I don’t understand Why Kopech could not go one more inning today, especially when we are at the All-Star break. The man struck out all 6 batters he faced in this series!

Just my opinion but if he can get the command down I think Crochet will be fine at 95-98. That's still major gas from a LHP.

UZR has him as a positive defender. He's so much better than Eloy out there and he's not gonna hurt himself by being an idiot.

With Vaughn playing fine LF defense, they shouldn’t even consider playing Eloy in the field. His bat is way more important than seeing him out there defensively.
