It's necessary now, man. Lets see what they do tomorrow. For example, if they pay a guy $150K tomorrow, it costs $25K against pool. If they did that today, it counts as $150K. There are reasons for doing this.8 points

I would somewhat disagree. 5-6 months is feasible but on the very conservative side. The tendon should be healed at 3 months. As long as he has full range, I don't see an issue with the swing as that muscle is a not primary muscle. It does need at least decent strength though.4 points

Hahn and his crew get a TON of credit for putting together a team that could weather the injuries this team has experienced. But pull me a lineup from the last four weeks that any baseball fan, let alone analyst, would call “immensely talented” as of 1 April 2021 and you’ll either be lying or delusional. The win/loss record that TLR has been able to achieve with the talent he’s been given is remarkable. (The players themselves have of course been remarkable too, but you can’t discount TLR’s role of putting them in positions to succeed.)4 points

Great pick from everything I've read and seen on You Tube. I just hope he signs with the Sox and play at University of Indiana where he has a full ride offer.4 points

If Jerry Reinsdorf didn't give TLR the job, would Hahn have signed TLR? It's a pathetic joke that an arrogant JR had to make up for a huge mistake he made from 35 years ago, when he allowed Hawk Harrelson to fire TLR. I am not going to give a grade to TLR. This post was initiated because the poster expected us to apology to TLR for the success of this team. I will stand on my remarks and I will not apologize because TLR was handed one of the best teams in MLB. This team would be winning with many other managers. The fact we had horrific injuries along the way and then minor leaguers and rookies stepped up, has nothing to do with TLR. The credit as I said belongs to Rick Hahn for putting this team together. Talented players are expected to play. If anything I would give an "A" to Katz for handling the great pitching staff and an "A" to Frank Menechino for handling the hitters.4 points

I will mention it here again. Every single White Sox top draft picks since Tim Anderson in 2013 has made it to the big leagues with the White Sox at some point. The draft and development team which was a mockery about a decade ago, has figured it out to a high degree.4 points

every year I think I'm prepared to not get mad about them, then a bunch of tweets on a team with 2 more draft picks in top 50 than anyone else gets a "great draft" comment and it makes me want to throw my phone.3 points

My main worry is still that Hostetler's drafts lacked system balance. And if Shirley is going to run drafts often like last year, we may still have a balance issue. But as weak as our Middle Infield depth was as an org, our pitching is terrifying right now if they can't transition Kopech and Crochet to starters. I am happy the got cespedes and colas, but thats where we really need to see latam supplement the org with young arms and so few make an impact past single a. All eyes on Mena, Guzman, and definitely Vera.3 points

Moncada is the best player on the team even without the power showing up lmao3 points

You're still about 18 names short of a Caulfield post. Either he has a baseball encyclopedia next to him, or he has remembered every player who has ever put on a uniform in his lifetime.3 points

TLR being a manager of a MLB ballclub has nothing to do with it. The job was handed to him and it shouldn't have been, based on normal baseball executive protocols. Regardless if he is a HOF manager and won 3 WS titles, that was light years ago. He is 76 now and acts, manages and talks like someone even older. It's not a bias that I don't like him. It's based on the facts I see watching him manage and lead this team. Again, this is a immensely talented team that Hahn put together. TLR is simply along for the free ride.3 points

The quality of the video was not good. Let's wait to see more but yes, he did not look good in the video.3 points

I don't like LaRussa. But if you truly believe the Manager of a MLB ballclub had nothing to do with the hiring of his staff...well. It sounds more of personal bias to me. I am of the belief, based on logic, that if you blame him for losses you have to give him some credit for wins. Whether you like it or not.3 points

That is an unfair comparison. Moncada struggled for 3 years in the majors (one at Boston and two with the Sox) before exploding with his breakout year in 2019. Burger has only played a short amount of time in the minors and his first time up to the Sox, and so far he hasn't disappointed. We know what we have with Moncada. However the upside of Burger is so much higher IMO. I do think Burger can eventual be our starting 3rd baseman of the future.3 points

Just another example in the lack of leadership from TLR. That message absolutely should have been given by TLR to the players. Yet again, based on how motivating it is to listen to TLR after a game, I can understand why he asked Joe to give the message. I'm sure at least Joe gave some passion in his announcement. ?3 points

Totally agree. Total players are expected to play. TLR is not a good manager. he wouldn't even be the manager of his buddy JR didn't make a dumb decision to make up for a big mistake he made 35 years ago in letting Hawk Harrelson fire TLR. A lot of competent managers could win with the team that Hahn has put together. For all the people here who still think TLR is the reason the Sox are winning at this success rate, is just as wrong as when the Bulls Jerry Krause told us that organizations win championships, not players.3 points

I was watching the Yankee v Astros games this weekend and came to the conclusion that the Astros players are trolling the mlb world and the fans because they were not punished for cheating. It pisses me off that their is zero responsibility and beyond that they are mocking everyone with celebrations of their accused cheating acts. These clowns know the mlb players want to have nothing to do with them so they also all opted out of All Star game. It is disgusting and on the commissioner office that these clowns got away with cheating I hope we beat their ass in the playoffs.2 points

That's a pleasant way of talking to someone on Soxtalk. Tell me how that turns out for you.2 points

Sheets and Burger are both trading block guys. They don't have any position to feed into at the major league level for the next few years, and they also allow a team trading for them to look like they are getting guys ready to step in today. You don't have to trade them, but they are easy guys to move out in a deal because the Sox won't miss them, and the other team will get near ready talent.2 points

Then you can't blame him when the team loses. Its Rick Hahn's fault then too.2 points

Yes I have written so much that I am constantly surprised that I still have people acting like I said I wanted him getting only weak side platoon AB's. Even now you say I have written more words then Hemingway about how "Vaughn wasn't the right guy for this team " yet you did not you quote one of my many posts on Vaughn to reach that conclusion. Truly odd that when I ask people to do that so I can have something to response to that is accurate they don't do it . I don't like being known as the guy who hates Vaughn because that was never true. All I ever thought was that like any other player who was struggling , that he should be benched once in a while against RHP instead of playing every day. I actually thought people were expecting too much from him with so little minor league experience. I think LaRussa has done a good job with matching up guys throughout the season with the many injuries. If we always listened to fans Leury, Lamb, Goodwin, Hamilton would all either have been DFA'd or never used. All I ever wanted was for Vaughn to get good matchups, a good balance between facing LHP and whatever RHP the coaching staff deemed fit for Vaughn to face.2 points

Cali, I'm just messing with you but you can stop pretending you wanted Vaughn to be the everyday left fielder. You've written more words than Hemingway about how Vaughn wasn't the right guy for this team.2 points

I'll say this, sure is good news that the Sox kept giving Vaughn his ab's vs righties so he could right the ship. Could be a monster second half from vaughny2 points

Can everyone on the board solicit Dan Bernstein on 670 all week until he cries like the baby clown he is and gives credit to La Russa?2 points

Moncada is getting on base 40% of the time, is a plus defensive fielder and is making as much in salary in 21+22+23 as Machado is making this year. He's put up a .550 Slugging percent just two years ago...and he's only 26. Jake Burger is 25. Do you really want to trade Moncada?? Do you really think other teams wouldn't be interested in him?2 points

We cashed in on 3 quality players (Sale, Q, Eaton) who were under favorable contracts. Had several quality drafts and some nice international signings. Also picked up several quality FA's at high but affordable prices. Rick Hahn should be given much credit for building this powerhouse on a middle-of-the-road budget.2 points

I was actually thinking about Sox v yankees yesterday. You know how the Yankees always have these prospects we all know of, that make their way into top 100 lists and we get national writers on their minor league progress constantly? They all seem to bust. In fairness, they’ll find a Gio urshela out of nowhere. Meanwhile the all star rosters come out. Marcus Semien, Narvaez, Escobar, Bassitt. All ho hum Sox prospects. (And Tatis) The only place that seems to value Sox prospects accurately is Oakland. The Sox thankfully seem to be self scouting much better recently.2 points

Yes, it seems like most on here believe the manager doesn't matter as long as you mentioned they are not a buffoon. The truth is that people personally don't like TLR so they are incapable of giving him any credit for the team's success. Bringing up DUIs and stuff like that makes no sense either. How something irrelevant like that enters a discussion on how he is managing this team is puzzling. I was indifferent about his hiring and was actually in favor of them hiring Hinch. However, TLR has done a great job and the only people who can't admit that are those that have some sort of personal issue with him.2 points
