Let's fuckin go!! Feels like it's been an eternity. Baseball seriously becomes such a staple of your life, it's just expected that there'll be a Sox game on that night so when we get a few off-days in a row it's hell.7 points

Hoping the Sox don't get swept again by the Astros. The Astros are the best team in the American League this year by a fairly wide margin.6 points

A 23 year old hitting .207 in A ball. Seems like an odd equal for Dylan Cease +, but ok.6 points

Have some of you guys watched baseball before? Those were virtually all on Bummer, not Collins3 points

C'mon those minor things just aren't worth his time. He only goes for the big stuff.3 points

Just while we're on it, should the sox acquire Gallo, throw him in the Grandal category where he'll be very good but a ton of people will hate him because of the optics3 points

With the way TLR uses Foster he was not even worth the roster spot. He was used so sparingly I am okay with having Lopez ready in case Cease/Gio get pounded or something goes awry in Monday's DH. He's in Chicago with the team but you're right that he's the only part of this 4 player set of transactions that isn't official. Makes me wonder if Lopez is a contingency and the Sox are close to acquiring the reliever they will surely bring in this month.3 points

Or we keep our GG caliber 3B with a 123 OPS+ where he's most comfortable3 points

Even before the All-Star game, I added a post on my thread about Vaughn, Burger, Sheets and Mercedes that the Sox should move Moncada to 2B to open up 3B for Jake Burger's bat. I asked if it was an insane idea, but now I think more and more that it's the right move. But during the All-Star game, when they interviewed Kris Bryant and showed how many games he'd played at 5 different positions, I thought that an All-Star player can in fact move around successfully. Yoan Moncada has played 200 games at 2B. He's plenty capable of moving over there tomorrow. Jake Burger, meanwhile, is a rookie, but he's off to a hot start after a torrid season in AAA, and looks like a much better hitter than Leury Garcia or Danny Mendick. One option was to try Burger at 2B, but that's a poor choice when Moncada can do that job much better. Anyway, the final evolution in my thoughts about this would be for Moncada to volunteer to make the move. This eliminates any pressure to do so by the club, and keeps everyone happy. If he makes the move and Burger flames out or stops hitting, he can easily move back to 3B. He can even move back on a game-by-game basis. But if Burger keeps hitting, or improves, the Sox will be a better team, and Moncada will be seen as a selfless guy who only wants the team to win.2 points

I watched the game until after Cease unraveled and lost focus. He had no business giving up any runs tonight with the stuff he had. He should be out of the playoffs rotation. Kopech in. Playoffs is all about focus and mental toughness.2 points

Astros are just flat out a better team than the Sox right now. I despise them but it is just a fact. The Sox have to get Eloy and Robert back healthy and need to add a middle relief guy and a second baseman who can hit.2 points

I can't get mad at Collins for always going down to one knee because it just doesn't matter. No knee, one knee, two knees he just fuckin sucks.2 points
-
Collins doesn't frame well and he can't block pitches. You've got to squint really hard to see him as a big league defensive catcher.2 points

Fair but tonight's ass offense is not the same team that will be on the field. Tonight has nothing to do with how we will play in October.2 points
-
Everyone saying we will lose to the Astros in the playoffs does realize that by then we will have Eloy, Robert, Grandal, and a trade acquisition at 2B, right? That's half the lineup being upgraded with all stars2 points

You can see how overexposed Leury is when the Sox are actually playing good teams. He can't be plan A to start at any position in a playoff game.2 points

Burger is someone you trade in a package for a core piece moving forward. You don't trade him for a rental or a 1.4 year guy who would play out of position next year.2 points

the MLBnerds account proposing those Gallo trades is straight up awful. Out in looney land.2 points

It's pretty outrageous and dumb and I'm very glad they aren't making any real decisions outside of their PS5. When your main justification is that the player values are close in that dumb MLB Trade Simulator tool, you need a new argument.2 points

When Lamb is ready, I would imagine, even as good as he has looked, Burger has to go down. The one thing Burger needs to do is play, and sitting on the bench most of the time is a waste.2 points

that is a great question. It looked like they were stealing Lynn's signs, as they really jumped on particular pitches. Not sure about Cease, but he really struggled as well.2 points

FG had Zack Burdi as the #2 rated prospect in the system, so yeah there's some serious updates that need to be done there.2 points

I think Fangraphs’ view of the system is very outdated and I don’t think he’d be anywhere close to our top 5 even before the draft IMO.2 points

If Rodon, Lynn, Moncada, Jimenez and Robert are all 100% on October 3rd, they have to be the AL if not World Series favorites.2 points

Mods, please check into this ASAP. This is a Soxtalk emergency. It will require some of the brighter minds, so leave Kyyle on the sidelines for this one.2 points

Story and Gray for Lopez, Steiver and Adolfo? If that's real, Hahn deserves a medal made out of pure cocaine2 points

Bro, I heard stuff on a scouting level that I probably got too excited about. Scouts were all a-Twitter about one of our guys and were in love with theirs. I probably got overheated. That’s my bad and my last dabble in trying to predict moves. I still think we make a substantial move, but lesson learned. Listed to y2jimmy2 points

Escobar is a much better rental than Pederson. Nevertheless, this trade should give us an idea of how inexpensively some of these rentals will be. That statement by Bernstein, regarding what he thought it would take, for the Sox to acquire Joc, simply tells you how little he knows about the subject.2 points

The answer for Moncada hot takes part IX is the same as part I. Why would you downgrade two positions?2 points

I do not think he sucks. I just have expected more from him, especially in the power department.2 points
